    Love this bag and your review. Could you show me how to store it in the front pocket?

    The new one coming out for members is rip stop and nicer looking though does not appear that they added a pads to the handles. I like the big haul duffles but I missed the special addition member bad so I'm gonna jump on the special addition roadtripper member bag at my REI which is luckily 5 minutes away.

    Good review. I wonder why they didn't use regular connection points for the strap? Maybe to save 2 ounces of weight?😀

      Thank you Global Adventurer! Lol, good question! I’m definitely on the fence about the strap. Someone, some where must have thought it was a good idea.

    I like the size of the 60 L to leave room, but I'm worried about the strength. It seems almost too thin. I'm traveling to Africa for 2 weeks for a safari and I need a semi-lightweight bag that I can get the most room out of without going over the weight limit for the small planes. I just don't think this bag will be sturdy enough without the bottom being reinforced and the strap just seems like it would rip if it got too heavy. Ugh, shopping for a travel duffel is more work than planning the trip! lol

      Hi july7nyc! Lol, I completely understand. I'm still trying to find the perfect bag for me and I'm still looking after countless bags : ) I do feel the bag is stronger than it looks. It "should" be able to handle your items. The bag does lack structure due to the material the bag is made from. But, I feel if you have any concerns you need to keep looking. I'm guessing Africa is a long way from home and not easy to find a replacement. Have you considered the REI Big Haul 60? It would add about 1lb over the Roadtripper, plus the price difference. Not to muddy the waters any more, but reading through the Roadtripper 60 reviews, overall very positive. Also, if you have a REI close, it may help to see the bags in person. I hope I didn't confuse more than help : ) Save travels and enjoy your trip to Africa! I would love to go someday.

      @@ChrisU Thanks for the reply. I decided to go with the Eagle Creek No Matter What Medium duffle. It seems a little harder and I think the specs are slightly larger, though both are 60L. (Also found it on Amazon for only $50.) I don't live near a Rei any more otherwise I'd definitely go in person. I still really like the REI bag and the 40 L is probably perfect for my quick trips back to NYC several times a year so might get one just for that! Thanks for this review. It helps so much seeing it laid out like you did and after packing.

      @@imanygirl What's your opinion of the Eagle Creek NMW Duffle now that you've had it for a while?

    • @imanygirl
      @imanygirl 4 года назад +1

      @@LaserrSharp Actually, it worked out perfectly! I went on a 14 day trip to Botswana on a camping safari where there were we were out in the wild the entire time in tents. I mean, no floors, no electricity, no roads or running water for 2 weeks and that bag was amazing. It got dusty, of course, but I was able to fit a ton of stuff in it AND kept it as carry-on the entire way (4 different flights!) Plus, at the very end of the trip, when we got to an actual town, I was able to buy some gifts and fit it in the bag with room left over. I was really pleased and I liked the strap too. I'm not big- 5'4" and about 115 lbs. I had a backpack full of camera equipment and the Eagle Creek bag and it wasn't so bad carrying them both through the airports. The padded strap definitely helped. I used packing cubes so the lack of structure wasn't even an issue. Definitely happy with my purchase, but will also look into the REI bag for quicker trips to NYC and back.

    I have one for simple travel if I don’t want to bring my Tumi carry on roller suitcase. Love it. Durability seems ok, I wouldn’t say it’s too well made but the rest of time will tell. It’s comfortable to carry through an airport. Easy to fit in an overhead bin. I wish the bottom was reinforced but for 40 bucks I can’t complain. I love the fact I can pack it in a small carry bag and stash it in my closet, however.

    you recommend this for air travel?

    • @ChrisU
      @ChrisU  5 лет назад

      Hey NOFOOD?! I would normally recommend the Osprey Transporter 40, TNF Base Camp S, Patagonia Black Hole, REI Big Haul duffels but I feel this is a nice, low cost alternative. I believe I picked it up for less than $30. Another nice low cost alternative would be the AmazonBasics Carry On Travel Backpack, which cost around $50. So for someone on a budget or who just doesn't want to spend $100+ on a bag, I feel the Roadtripper is a good choice. Take care!

    Nice review as usual Chris. I cringe and my ocd kicks into high gear every time I see you shove that jacket in without folding it neatly ha! Good inexpensive bag but the straps do look a bit cheap and at 40 liters if packed full I don't think it would be too comfortable hauling through airport. But on a road trip it may work just fine.Thanks and keep stuffing 'em bags!

    • @GlobalAdventurer
      @GlobalAdventurer 5 лет назад

      I agree. The connection points on that bag look very cheap, and don't look like they would accommodate regular replacement straps with shoulder cushions. I generally remove the original duffle straps off medium size bags and replace them temporarily with a Tom Bihn absolute strap. Works wonders no matter how heavy the bag is.

      Lol, thanks Miamis4me! You almost had me crying! : ) Great point about carrying full with only the one shoulder strap, because sometimes 2 straps is uncomfortable enough. Also, I really like and I may have to steal: keep stuffing' em bags! That's really catchy!
