    When it's cold oil pressure most always shows high on a factory gauge when it warms up and circulating itll drop to normal pressure . . Had a 91 454 on a 1 ton car hauler for years . . Not to much to worry about . . Been in the business for my entire life . . That was a heck of a leak tho . . Glad it was a simple fix . . I have never run in to that one . . Yet lol take care Bill hope ya had a great Thanksgiving

    That was lucky you noticed it quickly before major damage to the engine. Looked like a pretty easy fix once you made the tool. Pretty good to have a truck still running after 25 years.......Take care, Bluefin.

    • @BillGoudy
      @BillGoudy  3 года назад

      Haha!! You know how conservative I am, Bluefin.. I use this truck to put my boat in the Mississippi river and to haul junk to the recyclers. I have had it for a few years... That is for sure. I was lucky that I had it at the workshop. I noticed the smell of oil and I saw the oil pressure gage drop. Luckily I was only a block from my workshop. It sure made a mess on my drive but, Like you said I got back before any major damage occurred!!
      Cheers, my friend!!

    I've changed o-rings on several filter adapters. At least yours didn't have the oil cooler lines running to the filter adapter. If you were closer I would have let you use my 3/8 to 5/ 16 drive adapter. I bought a set years ago. Mainly to check the oil level in rollers on the undercarriage of older John Deere dozers. Good job buddy 👍

    Excellent fix Bill. That gasket completely failed, even blew a good sized chunk out of itself. Good thing for gauges, because by the time an idiot light goes on its usually too late.

    Great work... pretty tricky of them to hide the bolts under some pipe plugs. Likely a threaded stop with a locknut to adjust the idle, it might be under a plastic cover, just follow the trottle cable to find it. Great to have oil pressure in that range ! Great days to you and yours !

    • @BillGoudy
      @BillGoudy  3 года назад +1

      Thank you... I plan to look closer into that idle. It just feels like it is idling a little fast.. I think it fast idles at 1200 RPM after it warms up, it is 950 RPM and when you put it in gear it is 800 RPM. Maybe that is normal. This truck passes everything but, a gas station... It loves gas stations!! Haha!!

    Wonder if a square cut gasket off of a new oil filter would work, even though the adapter gasket has a round cross section, guess it depends if the groove on the part is deep enough to keep it from squirtin' the gasket out the side. New filters run about $4 vs $8 for the pack?
    Not sure about the high idle, maybe check if the throttle plates will close further if u push on the lever while its running, could have crud on the throttle plate shaft. guessing it has an idle air control motor, sometimes those can be adjusted to set idle or it's faulty. I'd say that's enough guesses for 1 comment, good luck!

    • @BillGoudy
      @BillGoudy  3 года назад +1

      It might work. I will look a little closer to the idle. Thank you for the help!! ;-)
