  • One night I was thinking about the videos I used to watch when I was very young. The name Baby Einstein came to mind - which introduced me to classical music at large. Sometimes I sit and wonder (in my artless British-American way) why it is that they never made a video celebrating the musical works of Arthur Sullivan and the fine art of thespianism. I figured something like the very sad “Lost Chord” would make babies cry more than their parents would like them to, so I suppose a “Baby Sullivan” was ruled out.
Anyway, here's the first in a series of videos I'm going to post here, where I've taken the orchestral scores of songs from Gilbert and Sullivan and changed the instruments in Musescore (where else?) to make them sound like they're from a Baby Einstein video.
The songs here are “Comes a train of little ladies” and “Three little maids from school” from THE MIKADO.
There are a surprisingly large number of reorchestrations like this on RUclips, all of which sound like they're from people with more experience than I. But I'm quite proud of how this one turned out.
