Stream Oliver! on HBO Max: bit.ly/WatchOl...
Experience the high-spirited adventures of Oliver Twist in this Oscar®-winning musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic tale! Young Oliver (Mark Lester) is an orphan who escapes the cheerless life of the workhouse and takes to the streets of 19th-Century London. He's immediately taken in by a band of street urchins, headed by the lovable villain, Fagin (Ron Moody), his fiendish henchman, Bill Sikes (Oliver Reed), and his loyal apprentice, The Artful Dodger (Jack Wild). Through his education in the fine points of pick-pocketing, Oliver makes away with an unexpected treasure... a home and a family of his own. Set to a heartfelt score that includes such favorites as "Consider Yourself," "Where Is Love?" and "As Long As He Needs Me," OLIVER! leads us on a journey in search of love, belonging and honor among thieves. Winner of six Academy Awards® (1968), including Best Picture and Best Score, OLIVER! will steal your heart!

The cheerful, happiest, uplifting musical number in the movie! It is Awesome! I also Live I'd Do Anything! It's A Fine Life! Omm! Pah Pah! Shani Wallis as Nancy is Perfectly Brilliant! Consider Yourself! Be Back Soon! You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two! Food Glorious Food! As Long as He Needs Me! Author Charles Dickens as child and his mother and father were forced to live in the workhouses because his father had to borrow money and went into debt just so the family good be together and live modestly. The wealthy men he borrowed from were ruthless! They did manage to leave the workhouse! The workhouses were barbaric, brutal, cruel and inhumane! That is why Charles Dickens wrote so many novels about the workhouses because of his experience in the harsh conditions and to put an end to the workhouses! His novels Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, A Christmas Carol, and A Tale of Two Cities all reflect the brutal workhouses!

One of the best of the musicals, made at a time when there was still the ability to write music, and producers and backers willing to make quality shows.

Awesome Muscal Song and Dance Number! Very Uplifting! Then the camera cuts to the scene of Bill Sikes with Bullseye his dog and the Artful Dodger. That is what leads to the barbaric, brutal heartbreaking vicious, violent murder of Nancy by the abusive, mean, violent criminal Bill Sikes! Nancy doesn't portray Bill Sikes to the law, she just wants to return Oliver to his great Uncle, Mr. Brownlow so Oliver can have a decent, happy life!

We performed this poignant musical Oliver Twist at school, Dr Graham's Homes Kalimpong India, back in the 70s. It created a very deep impression on our young souls as every song, every scene, every character, every piece of dialogue struck us emotionally. Beautiful memories have been rekindled while listening to them in this video. We were in our teens then but the romance in the classics of Charles Dickens, still remains.

I love Oliver Twist hate musicals but love the 1968 version. I idolise Ron moody this is special to me the energy I feel listening to this is like an emotional atomic bomb that would light the whole country for a year. This song reminds me of my mother it’s so special to me I keep it in my hart. This particular song gets me because of the words..who will buy my sweet red roses two blooms for a peeny… who will but it in a box for me so I can see it at my leisure to last my whole life long..the fall out has lasted a life time I’m a career for my aging mum and will loyally stay buy her side..so what am I two do to keep this sky so blue.. this musical is magical to me it’s more then just a musical it speaks to my soul ❤

The 1968 classic movie Oliver! is one of my favorite movies of all time! The beautiful and extremely talented actress, singer, dancer, entertainer and performer Shani Wallis is the best and one and only Nancy ever! Shani Wallis should have received the Golden Globe Award, the BAFTA Award, the Screen Actors Guild Award, and the Academy Award for best actress in a motion picture for her brilliant and excellent portrayal of Nancy in the 1968 classic movie Oliver! It should be Dame Shani Wallis! All the movie musicals numbers in this classic 1968 movie Oliver! are fantastic! I own this classic and excellent movie on DVD and Blue-Ray! I think the beautiful blonde actress and singer singing who will buy My Sweet Red Roses is excellent! I was born in late fall of 1978. All the beautiful and handsome singers and dancers in this excellent movie musical number are perfect! The 1968 classic movie Oliver! received a special Academy Award for best choreography in a motion picture! The classic 1968 movie Oliver! also received Academy Awards for best musical score, best director and best picture plus two other Academy Awards! The 1968 classic movie Oliver! deserved every one of them! And should have received more Golden Globe Awards, more BAFTA Awards, more Screen Actors Guild Awards and more Academy Awards! Thank you for posting and sharing this classic and excellent movie musical song and dance number!

In an interview, Shani Wallis recalled how she got the part of Nancy. She was a guest on "The Ed Sullivan Show" and she impressed Mike Frankovich, who was the head of Columbia Pictures at the time. Frankovich flew her out to Columbia in Hollywood for a screen test. She immediately got the part and the rest was history. She was a perfect Nancy.

The movie puts a more joyous face on the reality of the times. Read the book. Charles Dickens was an amazing writer. This world is what Republicans (and undeservedly wealthy Dems) dream to drag us back to.
