I would definitely keep that male false water cobra. He's a natural color, but yet it's different than the others. Instead of getting all fancy on morphs, a variety of the natural coloring is nice to have.
So true. I'm not much into the fancy morphs out there either. I had a natural corn snake for 24 years and I'd love to get another one in the near future.
It's a shame the checkerboard tri-color didn't make it, that could have been an amazing pattern. Did the red-eyed tri-color ever end up changing its eye color back to normal (and reduce the swelling on its head) or did that one pass away too? Also in terms of babies, I think one of my favorite ones was either Busty Rhonda's runt baby, or the little bullsnake that went back inside its egg after hatching.
I wouldn't be at all surprised that the zigzag in the pattern was why it passed. If the snake's internal organs and other tissues were similarly offset then it would not have been able circulate blood effectively etc.
I know it sucks! He(she?) had such a beautiful pattern, but it may be that the same genetics that caused that particular pattern were the reason they didn’t survive 😩😭
@@SevCaswell that's what I was thinking. I posited in the comments on that video that maybe it was an incomplete split that would've been twins or a fusion from a split that rejoined. I thought chimera but idk if identicals can make a chimera, and, obviously, they'd be identical if they shared the egg. In any case, the mosaic pattern and small size could definitely indicate some not quite right genetic stuff going on. Still, if she'd survived (I seem to remember it was a trio of sisters), Mitosis would've been a really cool name based on the pattern!
Just a suggestion - Do you think next time you show the lavender hogs that you could edit in a picture of what color it looks like in person? I know the camera doesn't pick it up very well, but if you went out and found a stock image of a close purple lavender color and put it in the video, that would be so helpful for us to visualize it! Thanks :)
Maybe they could have the video editor do colour-correction in parts (assuming that they can see the lavenders IRL for an accurate reference.) I think they might have done that once in one video about lavender snakes? I could be mis-remembering. I think also putting them on plain white backgrounds can help too, depending on the camera.
It may actually help to white balance the camera and then straight away put the lavenders on a white background - the same card or paper used to adjust the camera will do - as that should show a more realistic shade.
A note about breeding lav to lav! Female lavs to male lavs have fertility problems, and they do better when lavs are bred to het lavs. There is also better fertility from het to het pairings. Ask Jeff Galewood for more info but that’s the gist of it :)
That makes sense, it explains why Tiffany (lavender) and Shane Co (lavender) didn’t produce any babies, but Lily (het lavender) and Shane Co (lav) did.
It kind of makes sense when you think about the genetics. It would also probably allow you to introduce more variety in your breeding programs since you almost certainly get more het lavenders than you do lavenders.
All three lavenders are eating at the same time is so amazingly cute💜 False waters are also super cool! Mad hogs they have so adorable faces, everyone is just freakin cute!!!
This must be one of the most exciting things about breeding, other than the eggs hatching!! I'm glad you shared this with us!!!! I vote for naming the fast eater "Shark" very fitting.
I love the name Shark too! Fast eater and sounds more dangerous then what people think; just like false water cobra are venomous, but not as dangerous to us as it would imply.
Wow! The Madagascar Giant Hognose snakes were very large when they hatched, but WOOOW!! How much they have grown in just a few weeks!!! Great to hear they are eating well for you!!! 🥰🥰🥰
When Emily mentioned that one of the lavender girls actually had a silver coloration, I immediately thought of the video in which we were introduced to Kai, the lavender false water cobra, and she mentioned then that lavender fwcs have more of a silvery coloration than the purple tones of lavender hogs, and it's pretty cool to see that silver lavenders are also a thing in hognoses!
Love that you’re focusing on good eating lines. I’m doing the same thing for my balls and other species. Morphs are fun, but not enough people focus on the things that make good pets. I only holdback babies that eat well quickly and consistently and are friendly from the beginning. Love your channel!
So Happy for a baby snake update!!! Name ideas for snakes!!! I am in love with that Hognose that looked blueish and now silver, to me next to the Lavender, it made the other look it was a platinum color, very lovely, the control Lavender too.
This is something I thought of while watching the hognose section. Is it possible to have a superconda lavender? Or will it cancel out like some other phenotype traits?
One time I noticed that cobra in the icecream cone with a crown in it and I recreated it made ti a hog nosed cobra and I bumbed up the details and made the icecream pink instead of purple
I love the lightly striped conda baby :) but the pink is also super cute!! And the silver really looks cool, you guys got a lot of variety with the lavenders!! :D
I ended up holding back 2 of my hognoses. Both are RBE Pastel, one is a Superconda and one is a Conda- both are pos het toffee. The condas pattern and color was too good to let go

That was a beautiful silver lavender hog 🤍💜🐍
After watching that cute little tri color hognose trying to eat Emily’s hand, and getting educated about them, I would absolutely love to keep one as a pet. 100% adorable.
Love y’all’s videos so many reptiles I swear I can keep track on how many y’all have
My favourite hognose hold back is either the one you used to compare and contrast with her siblings, or her grumpy sister! 💜💜💜
That's adorable you should name that sassy lavender miss sassy that would be so cute!
