Saw them in boise when they opened for children of bodom. They actually came out and talked with people. I would love to see how they perform as a headlining band.

I really liked Helvetios because of the story behind the album, and i actually saw the 55 minutes interview that was on the dvd and it was really interesting it gives the album anew meaning.
Here is a great thought, come to Australia, play a few gigs and I'll buy a sackful of albums from you.

Personally, Everything Remains as it Never Was, Slania, and Helvetios are three of my favorite albums. Eluveitie is my favorite band, and they can do no wrong as far as I see.

Yeah, there were some negative reviews about "Helvetios". But most of the reviews I found were very positive (masterpiece, great album, whatever...). And mostly the negative reviews didn't bother with the background of this album while the positive reviews actually did this.
And this is also my opinion. "Helvetios" is much greater if you know the story behind it (ok, even without bother with history I think it's great xD ).
But in the end it's always a matter of taste ;)
Individually, as musicians, they have definitely improved. Just listen to 'Havoc'; a very fast-paced piece with some very technical melodies that weren't that much played in 'the old days'. You can also see a very clear improvement of Chrigel's song writing.
But for the rest, it's all very subjective and to say that their musical aspect is not anymore their priority is a bit harsh. I'd say, the members of the band get more chances. Anna for example, has got a lot of chances to show her talent.
True. I don't know the story and to be honest, I'm not interested :p But I certainly understand you! It's the same reason I think Watershed is so great, because of the story behind it in combination with the music and the lyrics which makes it perfect for me. But I listened through Helvetios once or twice and it didn't get to me, so as you said it, it is always a matter of taste ^^
I had no idea Eluveitie was pronounced El-Whi-Te. I've been saying El-Ve-Tei for years. :)

hey comon the acoustic album was very good man!!!! though i agree recent albums are somewhat different, they tend to sound more pop-ish, they are still very good but i definately prefer older albums with lyrics entirely in gaullish

They are, but their main speaking language is German from what I know. It all depends on whether you grew up in a French or German household, I suppose.
I'm aware of that, but I thought Eluveitie were from Switzerland.

Oh sure, "swamping themselves with more work". Cmon, really remastering is as hard as you think? However, I know it's their job, but as musicians they need to put the musical aspect on top. And believe me, they earn more than you expect.

I think the best way to describe it is that Eluveitie doesn't follow your musical taste anymore. I personally think the band has improved its sound a lot, but I agree that they sound different... but definitely not worse or "bad".
They work too fucking hard to keep this band going, promoting themselves, hardly ever getting any time off, so they can fucking make the money they deserve!!! It IS their job, you know? They have to work and they do very well at it. And they play what they want to play, regardless of what YOU like. They deserve all the success they can get! They didn't have to make remastered/re-recorded versions of their early albums, but they did, swamping themselves with more work. And you sit there and cry.
They improved they sound a lot? What the hell man? The only reason they didn't record the albums with the musical quality as Spirit or Slania is be affected by fame and the money. In their early ears, the musical aspect was the priority, and the money only a necessity. Now it's backwards.
I know the "v" is different from the "w". The replacement of a "w" sound with a "v" sound is typically a slavic or Russian trait, which is why it's odd to hear a native German speaker use it.
How about simply accepting that not everyone shares the same tastes? Just because they're from my country doesn't automatically make me worship them. Quality makes me worship something, not their origin.
There's no "v" sound in German. It's usually pronounced like an "f" and, ocassionally, like a "w".

Yeah, I know :p but you can't deny the fact that their latest albums had a lot of negative reviews. Not that I'm just following public opinion, because a lot of people are dissing Opeth's 'Heritage' album, which I think is fantastic. Not their best (which is Watershed imo) but surely not their worst either. But I guess my taste has changed over the past few years. First I was this die hard metalhead, but I'm not anymore. I tend to get bored when listening to metal these days. I'm getting old xD
we're not friends, if you cared I would laugh ou loud. I dont care too but at least, now I know that we Portuguese are not the only ones not apreciating the good things our country has.

Actually... a "v" sounds a bit different from a "w"... it's a bit like "ch" (in "Milch") and "sch" (in "Scheiße").
They remastered Spirit. They re-recorded Ven. All they do is tour and tour and when they're not touring, they're working on other projects or doing interviews and stuff, plus listening to people's constant whining, ie "Come to *insert country here*." They aren't robots, yet everyone seems to think they should be! How are they not putting the musical aspect on top? Are you saying that just because you don't like their newer albums? I don't understand this comment at all.

Minimum? MINIMUM? Holy shit, their minimum is have everyone a Mac, a thounsand types of new and high quality instruments and a furniture with the logo of my own band? Lol, then I'm so poor, damn it.
money? Do you actually know what they earn? I do and I can tell you, it's an absolute minimum wage. Which they earn NOW after years of being literally penniless. I think it's ok to earn some money from an album many fans haven't been able to buy anymore and which they earned completely nothing for to begin with.

i never said whorship them, I dont ... but if Eluveitie are "stale, boring, not exciting" Im most certainly missing the good side of swiss folk, would you like to point me in the right direction ? Some bands maybe ? and im not being ironic, fell free to share your knowledge whit us.

Maybe the "new" CD is for people who like the actual Eluveitie... and that's great in my opinion. The old "Ven" already exists, so it would be kinda pointless to do exactly the same thing.
I'm not into eluveitie as I was before. To me, the new albums are really bad :p If they were playing on a festival where I happened to be, I would probably go check them out, but I won't buy any of their new stuff.

I totally agree, Spirit was great, Slania was even better. But from there it all went downhill. The mediocre acoustic album, everything remains was really bad and helvetios is even worse.. So yeah.. I listen to Slania once in a while, but that's it.
After Vên and Spirit Eluveitie went downhill. Slania was an embarrassment. Some songs from the acoustic album were only okay. Everything Remains was boring and Helvetios had a few good moments. So I'm looking forward to the early years again.

It's stale, boring, not exciting. Everything after spirit lacks, well, the spirit. Every song has lost the soul the earlier records have had. You know, suddenly Eluveitie was everywhere in Switzerland, they played everywhere, even at Open Airs which had nothing to do with their music. They were just everywhere and noticeably changed their sound, because Metalcore was blooming back then. It's just some sort of prostration. It's not their music anymore. Btw, I don't care what you think about me.
