I suggestion would be to try a different USB. That has been pretty common so far. Different USBs have given people different speeds and different results. I myself had a USB 3 that did not go fast whereas somebody else who had a similar USB 3. Had a much different experience than myself
Unfortunately this is not available as an over the air update. At least not yet. It is quite a large update so idk if they would do that. The files are about 13 gig total.
There should be zero charge for this if you go to the dealer. If they charge you, time to go elsewhere...and tell me who they are so I can put them on blast 🤣
So I have been meaning to make a short about this. I have a new issue now. Android Auto will not connect if my Bluetooth connects to the car first. So when I plug the usb to my phone I have to then turn the bluetooth off and then in again. Then it connects to AA. At least now it ALWAYS connects and I haven't had a random disconnect. So...net positive? 🤣
Any tips if it’s not reading the usb? I’ve tried 3 different usb all formatted to NTFS all above 32gb, and the car just won’t pick it up. I’ll be on the dealer menu , hit software update, plug in the usb slot, and then nothing ever happens.
I am unsure. In this case you may need to try a different USB. I know you said you tried , but idk I had a few laying around but the first model I tried worked so I didn't get a chance to do much trouble shooting.
Make sure you turn off Automatic Updates before going to the Dealer Menu. That actually made a difference for the technician when I was getting it done at the dealer. And I do believe the car has to be on.
Hmm not sure how that would impact the car. It goes through starlink so as long as your car is still connected to their network you should be able to remote start and do everything else (lock / unlock doors and all that jazz). If not I'd check in with the dealer. This is an official Subaru update so they should have more insight.
Thanks for replying I called starlink and they said its due to the Telematics DCM recall.I havent gotten mine looked at by the dealer yet,Did you get that recall fixed before the update install?
I had a feeling that when the starlink guy said that it was just a way to throw me off to go to the dealer, still odd though I wonder if I did something wrong. The update is complete and everything else works fine
Sadly NTFS format is not supported on Mac by default. You'll need to install NTFS for Mac ( idk if there is a free version) and then copy it that way to the USB.

Unfortunately this is not available as an over the air update. At least not yet. It is quite a large update so idk if they would do that. The files are about 13 gig total.
The car went into power saving mode
Does the Dealer charge for this type of update??
There should be zero charge for this if you go to the dealer. If they charge you, time to go elsewhere...and tell me who they are so I can put them on blast 🤣
Has anyone had any issues doing this update themselves? Seems straight forward I just don't want to screw anything up and have to go to a dealership 🤨
I think the recommended size is a 64gb USB. That's what I used and from a known brand, PNY.
Maybe try doing a full format of the usb drive, assuming your on windows uncheck the quick format box when you are formatting the drive.
Try cranking your car first
Make sure you turn off Automatic Updates before going to the Dealer Menu. That actually made a difference for the technician when I was getting it done at the dealer. And I do believe the car has to be on.
I need help,I did this updatw and now my remote start no longer works whenever I try it from the app
@@ROBBBIIINNN I need to actually go do mine. Still haven't gotten around to the dealership.
I had a feeling that when the starlink guy said that it was just a way to throw me off to go to the dealer, still odd though I wonder if I did something wrong. The update is complete and everything else works fine
Is this process for a mac too? I am asking because it gets stuck while I am downloading the files. Thanks
Sadly NTFS format is not supported on Mac by default. You'll need to install NTFS for Mac ( idk if there is a free version) and then copy it that way to the USB.
Thanks
Can you share the link to download update file ? Thank you
Sure thing! If this doesn't work I have it in the description as well as a link:

@@HeavyMetalWRX thank you so much ! I will try to update in this weekend
Hi can you share the link to download the files
Here ya go!

android auto only works with the cable?? thats shitty
I can’t download this through my car wifi?
Negative. At this time it is not available as over the air. Need to either go to the dealer or throw it on a USB at home.
Okay ….. that’s it. Time for the muscle shirts to come out. Can’t have you playing plumber over there flexing them pipes on me.
L O L O L O L dude it was SO HOT today
@@HeavyMetalWRX that’s what I’d say too. It’s hot so gotta let the pythons breath.
@@Flatline_WRX that's it , next video I'm challenging you to a workout contest 🤣
@@HeavyMetalWRX 🤣 I can’t be publicly shamed lol
Bro I took it to the dealer. 200 DOLLAR WARRENTY CHARGE. (I obvi didnt pay that) and they put it on 138......so didn't even upgrade the buttons 😂
Oh damn, forget them, you got this yourself! For free, even!
anyway to get android auto wirelessly ?
There are add-ons you can buy. Noble sells a wireless adapter that works. I plan on doing a review of one soon
@@HeavyMetalWRX cool thanks apparently, the 2023 wrx has it ? Wasn't completely fair.
And one more question, When you first reviewed the infotainment, You liked how you could see the air flow when you went into climate.. did that go away with the update?
@@loonytunezz5452 dude , of the 2023 gets the wireless AA I'm gonna be sad haha. I need to hit my dealership up and find out. Also yes the update still allows you to see the flow. All the relevant info is still displayed but it is a tad bit smaller. Subaru definitely took the 2 steps forward 1 step back approach here.
@@HeavyMetalWRX lmao I feel you, just googled it, so i think it does .
man thanks for the quick replies, enjoyed your channel so far just stumbled upon it!
@@loonytunezz5452 I try my best to catch everyone's comments. Sometimes things get lost but you can always email me or catch me on IG if you have any more questions. Glad to have you here, man. Check out the rest of the channel. I have a metric ton of good information from great people. TunerTalk is a great playlist that has interviews from Boosted Performance, Smeedia(who just got a VB), Dmann Tuning.
Did anyone also have to update V-CPU? My current version was 680 and it said that it needed to update to 780. I didn't see that on your infotainment during your video. My infotainment software was older than yours though.
That may be the reason, I'm not 100% sure. I got my car in October of 2022. I was already a few updates ahead which could be why I never got any OTAs
Did this still work for you? I seem to have an older version as well.
@@fayizd654 yea mine matched up
@@fayizd654 Yeah it worked for me
Android auto is so annoying on this car that it only uses half the screen for the map.
Why the hell is this 12gb? That’s 12 GameCube games! 😂
ACHKTUALLLLY most gb games were like 1.x gig. Don't ask how I know 🤣
Man. That is a really ugly screen. It just doesn’t belong in this car.
Unfortunately we are going to see more and more. You already have a screen in every hand....naturally they are making their way to cars.
I saw they had a picture of how to enter dealership mode on the base dual screens. Does this update work for the base trim too, or is it just for the single screen?
The pdf in the Google drive does detail that it works for the base model. It has instructions on how to do it.
It works for the base model. I just did the update a week ago, although I didn't really notice any changes to the UI or anything.
Thanks guys!
