I have a gray 19' 4runner TRD ORP and I love this truck, very capable in stock form , which mine is right now. I never once thought that an SR5 was less than capable. I got the ORP because of the extra features. That's all. But in the end, I would have been happy with a SR5 if I didnt have any other choice. Regardless, you can modify any trim if you have endless amounts of money..
This gives me great confidence! I recently purchased a 2015 SR5 4R and it’s stock bare bones, no center locker. Just ATRAC and 4H/L. Great video and I’ll have to agree with others, it’s refreshing to see a clean SR5 doing everything and then some when people are crawling pavement in TRDOF/PRO trims.

I saw this video last summer, just before I purchased the same year and trim level you have. It helped sell me on the SR5. I had mine in a lot of snow and ice this last winter, including a few spots that I probably should not have been in. Made it through in 4 low. But I think I discovered the 4wd limits of my stock Bridgestone tires. Putting all-terrain 265/70R17s tires on this summer.
Man I would still get an SR5 and get it lifted. I got a 3 inch lift with Fox coil overs and rear Fox shocks and it handles like a completely different truck.
Liked this video. Have a new SR5 coming in June. I wanted a TRD Pro, but the wife wanted a 3 row, so it had to be a SR5...was afraid that I would be losing a lot with a SR5 since we currently have a Jeep Wrangler X. This video makes me feel better about getting a non-TRD model
I purchased a 2022 Toyota 4runner TRD off road premium Barcelona Red with upgraded pro wheels and skid plates. Black out Emblems. Upgraded tires BF Goodrich KO2's. Any 4runner is a beast. I choose this trim simply for the day to day driver. I will admit the off road tech is pretty impressive.. so many modifications are a possibility. What's important..we keep the tradition alive. For me there is not a better truck anywhere in the world!!
Very impressive. I was trying to decide between a TRD or a SR5 premium. This video basically just made my mind up. I will take the extra luxuries in that SR5 and the lower price tag.. Excellent job.
Just bought a 2021 B.Red SR5 Premium. Replaced Dunlop stock tires with the same size BFGOODRICH KO2’s now she ready for anything. Not lifting maybe a level one day. Oh and I got all my interior lights switched out to led’s hahaha

For you, people who are giving the SR5 nonstop praise which, in many ways, it deserves, you have to notice that in several of these obstacles, they put down traction boards in order for this vehicle to get through the hardest parts. Take a look.
I thought you needed a 700,000 pound winch, rock sliders, full underbody armor, 100,00,000 watt led light bars, special massive round custom color wheels and tires, in truck generator, freezer box, CB system with communications tower, a roof rack that can hold an elephant, steel bumpers front and rear to hold gasoline cans and a little latter to climb on the roof. Glad I left mine stock. 😁

Hey guys I'm seriously considering getting a 4runner and I'm debating on the off road or the SR5. I feel like I would be compromising if I went down to the SR5 model but what would you suggest? What do you think is better?
The off-road model is definitely a step up, but that’s if you’re willing to spend an extra 5 to 8 grand just for an e locker, a hood scoop, and a suspension kit you’ll probably switch out anyway.
Taco Trails do you know if the performance in the differing transfer cases are a big deal? I prefer the manual but is there any difference between the electronic vs. the manual shifter?
I have an sr5 premium that does stuff that most TRD owners dream of. Most of it is in the driver anyways. ATRAC is a champ and honestly probably better than a locker. I have a built MDX that’s AWD and a rear locker and I feel that my 4runner is just as capable
If you like kdss, you can only get that in the off road. Some people don't care for it. It's great for me because I drive on steep, winding, mountain roads and helps reduce body roll and handles better. I don't think it really does anything for off roading.
Dude! We need more of this! So sick of seeing TRD'S with 35's, 3" lifts, winches, and freakin snorkels. So refreshing seeing an SR5 tear it up.

Sparks Glencoe Your right...a couple of front and rear lockers and you’ve got yourself a TRD Tank.
This dude needs more upvotes, Unfortunately this generation we see more mall crawlers 4runners.

Running an SR5 harder than any TRD on RUclips . Well done 👍
Thank you for proving you don’t have to dump $10-$30K on upgrades or that you have to have a TRD to go off-road with a 4Runner!!!
Ikr!!! SR5 IS THE WAY TO GO FOLKS!
My SR5 rocks anywhere his would do a hundred times better if he just got a little bit better tires
