I’ve been thinking about getting an allied echo and I’m glad I stumbled across your channel. I currently have a 2020 sworks venge as my road bike and I’ve been looking for something different for over a year now. It’s a great bike and is fun to ride but I just don’t “love” it. I’m not sure what it is but it just has no place in heart. I have a giant tcx that I run for cross and I prefer the handling and feeling of that bike.
My issue is that I haven’t found a bike that is compelling enough for me to replace my venge. It’s a standard and somewhat boring aero road bike but it’s unique in the sense that they don’t make them anymore and the finish I have on mine is rare. Replacing it with a tarmac, canyon, cervelo, or any other world tour bike is not what I’m looking to do - those bikes are cool but I would never actually love the bike. I want something that I won’t want to sell in 2 years. So far Allied is one of the only brands that actually makes interesting bikes.
How much would I be missing by swapping from a venge to an echo? I don’t care about marginal aero gains but I do care about the responsiveness and stiffness of the bike. Is your experience with the echo good?
Also, I do some pretty serious riding on my TCX. We have some really good MTB trails in northwest Washington state and I have abused the hell out of that bike on somewhat advanced rooty and rocky mountain bike trails. I prefer the tcx to my mountain bike and have ridden it on any trail that I would mountain bike on. The echo is marketed as an “all road” bike and I definitely would like to ride it on some techy single track. Would I be an idiot to ride it that hard off road? I don’t expect it to ride like a venge on road and a cx bike off it, but in your opinion is the echo as close as you can get from one bike?

Allied's bikes just seem big across the whole range. I ride a size 52 Emonda and I'd be riding an XS in most of their bikes. Looks like a great ride, though.

Mondos are crazy nice on NYC roads. ❤

Tested one of these…nice bike with a traditional look. But I couldn’t get past the stem and head tube design…it’s just so visually clunky, and looks like a total afterthought in the overall design of the bike.

Are you guys using some kind of filter when editing? Last two vids have been kind of dark. Really liked the Epic 8 vid, but it was a bit too dark at times. Super cool bike though, love the color, and Jackson is a funny guy!

It’s because we’re still trying to finish the studio lol. We filmed this video before we painted the wall black and then also now that the walls black we are gonna get better lighting and hopefully that will fix it.

@@bicyclestation Sounds good! Yeah you are one of the only few that have the blue S-works epic, and I think that is the color my dealer ordered for me, trying to get a good idea of what the color looks like for real. Specializeds pictures are as usual so bad for seeing the color. Hopefully I can see the color better when you do your ride review!

The colors in the video I’d call accurate. It’s not a very bright bike

Four Thhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhousand Five Hhhhhhundred dollars for a frameset. Must be some pretty big egos with deep pockets out there. There are lots of complete bikes that are fully capable of doing the same job for less money. I prefer steel like a Ritchey or something that I can punish hard.

It’s a US manufactured carbon frame. I think allied is just trying to pay their workers fair wages. I’m kinda sick of this attitude that only mega rich hedge fund owners buy these. Normal people buy expensive bikes. They are nice people. There’s no reason to be so rude about it.

    Monstrosity of a stem lol

The absolute worst cable routing layout in the industry... From a company that makes everything in house(Frame, Fork, Stem), I just can't understand why this is the solution they settled on... There are dozens ways to accomplish this, even if they were so set on sticking to an 1 1/8" upper bearing. And I'm a fan of, and prior owner of a, Allied.

It’s a case of reinventing something that didn’t need to be reinvented. It’s not a dealbreaker for me but yea I don’t think an intuitive decision at all.
