- Can't connect the PS3 controllers wireless, but only when connected with the mini usb cable? Even resetting the controllers didn't work? It took me a long time to get them to fix mine. This is how I fixed my controllers:
1. Completely turn off your PS3, Press the power switch to OFF (this is what most people didn't mention)
2. Connect your Controller to some charger/computer with the mini usb cable so the controller blinks
3. Press the reset button on the back of the controller for 3 seconds using a paperclip or something, lights will go off
4. After that the controller should blink 1 or 2 times
5. Turn the PS3 power switch ON
6. Connect your controller with the mini usb cable
7. Press the PS button to pair.
8. Now you can remove the cable and you can play wireless

I got the same issue, all i did was plugged it in, turned it on, then i stuck a pin inside the reset button so it turned off the controller, then unplugged it and it worked

Thank you!! 😎😄 I tried the reset button but nothing happened apart from the lights flashing and then going off. The controller finally connected when I turned off the console and then turned it off by the plug. I had my controller connected, switched on the plug then pressed the ps button and it worked straight away. Thank you :)
Wow, this actually worked for both my controllers I couldn't sync for quite some time. I thought it was a console issue.
if u didnt fix the ps3 controller i got it, when the light is blinking, unplug it from the ps3, hold the ps button and push the first joystick in all the lights will blink again as if coming on but then go off, then plug back into playstation and it will start. If it still didn't work then do the same thing again but keep it plugged into the system while holding in the ps button and left toggle button just like before and then give it a sec and then hit the ps button and it should work! This worked for me perfect after watching so many videos and nothing helped. Then i found this!!!! Thank you god it worked like a charm!!! LET ME KNOW IF YOUR CONFUSED ITS REALLY EASY. good luck!

@@djpaulhannon I think he means the left joystick which is also known as the left analog stick/joystick (when you press it down it sounds like a button being pressed because it is a button although it's virtually useless in a game)
I held the PS button down WHILE I reset the controller and that worked!

I had this issue today for the second time. Both times (for sure this worked the first time and my PS3 turned on and my controller synched so I am guessing it worked) what I did was turn off my PS3 from the power BUT I did not reset my controller. All I did was turn on the PS3 vai the PS button and it worked. Thought I'd mention that in case this is the case for others and it could help others too.
My issue is with both pads. The controllers connect through USB and navigate etc. but when I take out of the USB, the lights keep blinking but won’t sync. I tried the reset button and everything. Still nothing. I charged the pads up too and still nothing. The weird thing is, the controllers can start up the ps3 wirelessly but won’t connect as soon as it’s booted up.

Reset Your PS3 Controller
Turn off your PS3 console.
Plug the controller into the USB port on the console.
Turn on your PS3.
Look for a small hole on the back on the controller near the L2 shoulder button. ...
Press the PS button on the controller to re-pair it with the PS3

When I plug my controller in it slowly flashes all 4 lights three times, stops, then flashes 3 times again.
When I unplug it and press the PS button, all 4 lights flash fast.
When I press the PS button while connected to the PS3, nothing happens. No change at all. Tried everything out there. Guess the only thing left is to smash the damn thing.

Make sure you have good quality cords guys...my problem was a cheap cord 😥

didn't work for me :/ i reset my playstation so that it would be clean before i started using it but for some reason the controller wouldn't just connect or do anything normally. i'd have to hold down the PS button for quite a bit for it to blink and as soon as i've held down the reset button for the 3 seconds it'd just stop blinking completely and not pair. (when i'm on the setup pair screen and would hold down the PS button it'd either blink like it usually does or do nothing at all.) if anyone could help me that would be amazing. thanks!

I was wondering if you could help me out I just bought the PlayStation 3 from somebody and the controller didn't work so I bought a new wired controller now the system detects it when I'm just ordinarily using the system but now I have corrupted files and I can't download Grand Theft Auto completely so I'm trying to do a factory reset or restore through the power button way and when it ask me to press start on the controller my controller isn't lit up or I believe it's not detected. Is there a way to see physically if my new wired controller is being detected?

Sony did a crappy ass job programming the control pads. Mine always has connection issues and all I can do is fiddle and cuss, waiting for it to work.

hey.. what's up? So how long do I have to wait before plugging it again? I have no switch on its back whatsoever.. I don't even know which ps3 model I have of Its slim or not. The controllers batteries are not dead. They charge, the green light on the charger is on so I know they work and are not dead.. and if they were I don't think the lights would even blink. They blink, don't switch to one light.. don't connect., my screen freezes at " connect the controller via USB cable and then press the ps button". Nothing after that. I reset the controller it does the same.. blinks all 4 lights ana that's it. Tried this a lot, tried the. " hold the ps button on your ps to get to recovery mode".. tried all that but couldn't choose and option because the controller wouldn't connect.. I don't wanna have to buy another one.. this happened all is the sudden, I was playing and then changed game.. it's it caused by retroarch? I also tried ISO game and didn't work.. and all the sudden this even appeared.I even thought it was overheated and did nothing for 3 days and still does the same.. help please.. thanks

I need help too lol, I got no switch on the back either. My controllers just blink and if I pressed the reset button it stops blinking for however long I press the reset button down on the controller. And once I stop it will start blinking again.
