Sojin was my favorite trainee during Baby Kara Project. I remember voting for her and Jeon Somin constantly throughout the show, and when I found out she passed, I remember I was so distraught! What made everything worse was the fact that DSP told Sojin that she both was "too old," and that her sexy girl crush concept wasn't something the company was looking for, only to have KARD pre-debut in 2016 with a concept that Sojin WOULD HAVE ATE UP, and her age would've fit perfectly with BM and J.Seph! The fact that Somin, Chaewon, and Chaekyoung debuted in KARD and APRIL showed me that DSP was planning on debuting the girls that didn't make it to KARA anyways, so why couldn't Sojin be one of those girls. They abused her trust, used her dry, and once they were done, they gaslit her telling her telling her it was her fault that they were done with her. Apparently this is a common practice. I was honestly shocked and sad that she didn't make it in the group. Youngji was missing for half the show, but apparently scored well with the Japanese fans who did most of the voting. I won't allow you to steamroll over Ahn Sojin's wondrous legacy so you can boast artificial success. Ahn Sojin was robbed of being an idol. KARA member or not, she deserved every bit of it.
Its nice these days too see groups like Kiss of life and yeah Blackpink debuting when they are all adults. I feel really sad for her....a pity she didnt try again with another company or go into Acting. Poor Angel i hope kpop companies learn something.
Korea should legalise the age for debut to be 18. Being a singer is a full time job. Why are people at 14 dancing on stage when they should still be studying ?
Exactly. new jeans is an example. Love their success but I can’t stand a 14-15 year old girl debuting. Korea should stop doing this. 18 up should be the limit. Not 13-17. Which is wrong
It's really sad what happened to her. She was so talented and full of life. Some female idols debuted in their 20s and some from the most popular girl groups, like Bom, Dara, Jia, Narsha, Miya and Sojin at 25, Irene and Solar at 23, and Moonbyul at 22.
DSP, Superstar K, SM, these are the leaders in the kpop industry which have made the industry more toxic and abusive as years go by, instead of better.
You see, this is why I fuck with the industry in Latin America, people there don't really care how old their artists get, as long as they're still talented enough to pull a mature, sexy performance and be good-looking, hot and attractive- no ageism is ever involved there to my knowledge, which is good. Take Shakira or JLO, those women are in their 40s and 50s and they're still popular to this day, their music is always trending when they release something new. Kpop Industry should take some notes and learn how to set up their target, demographic audiences.
Rest in peace to all the beautiful and amazingly talented idols that are no longer here. I appreciate the hard work and struggle they went through to achieve their dreams. And every trainee that didn’t make it to debut, is still an idol to me. ❤️🩹🫶
i am a kamilia but kara wasn’t exactly at their peak during that time don’t get me wrong they were still super successful selling massive numbers in albums and concert tickets just not their peak, and they only lasted a bit over a year after adding youngji to the lineup so i don’t know why dsp went through all that trouble.
This is why I think that the age system in Kpop is stupid you should be able to be an artist at any age not very young and I hate the fact that being in your 20’s is considered to be old to be an idol like NO ITs NOT being in your 20’s is still very young and that’s why I don’t agree with people when they say oh your in your 20’s that’s to old to be an artist or idol like just shut up your basically telling them to give up just because you are in your 20’s and I do not support the training system at all and I hope the Korean government will change this because this is getting ridiculous
I’m an OG kpop fan and I was a HUGE Kara Stan! I remember watching this and I was rooting for her so much! I really wanted her to win! It hit me sooo hard when this happened… not only that but my bias was Hara and that hit even harder. As a attempt survivor myself I know what it’s like to get so low and it’s so sad how prevalent this is in the kpop industry 😔
Me wanting to be a K. pop idol And being a girl Thinking about should I still be a K. pop idol or not Thinking I still should be. But since I'm a girl And I wanna be a K. pop idol This Might be harsh for me But I'm gonna still do it
No it isn´t but if you take the body into consideration it´s different. It may not apply to everyone but a lot of trouble start when you hit 30.Back hurts, legs etc, everything will start at this point, more or less! Even if you break your leg or arm or anything else, it´s much easier for your body to recover if you are younger. Plus thinking about beeing a trainee, you have to train for years (at least you could if you are unlucky),then you are in a group for years, what if you want to have a family, a child? By the end of all this you might be in the middle or end of your 30´s . There´s not that much time left for you. At least not the way SK is working, It may work out in the west but in SK?? And be honest, Idols are made -mostly- for the younger generation! We are talking about idols, not artists or singer , IDOLS! Which is a completely different thing. We in the west might be rooting for older idols but the main target is SK and SK prefers young and fresh girls. Is it unfair? Yes! Is it stupid? Well , kind of but that´s how SK is working
The companies and the judgemental so called fans are so cruel and idiotic. Trainees are HUMAN BEINGS, not PRODUCTS. For God's sake. RIP, beautiful angel.😢
When i saw her became 3rd place, i knew she was gonna end her Life...she looked beaten and so Over everything....DSP comment just pushed her over the edge..... But i wished she was stronger so that maybe she could have gone Acting....... Koreans the first thing they think is "SUIC***"...... So Sad.....i hope she rest in Peace
While it is sad, but the age thingy is business driven, so basically the fan. The fan ‘dont buy’ older idols as much as the younger ones. If the fans and market results dont change, why you expect the business to change. And all trainees come to the industry knowingly what to expect. If you dont like/ cant handle how it works, why participate in the first place. The point is, it is not black or white as this video try to paint it. All parties have always dealt their cards to fit their interest. It just the results will always NOT beneficial to all. And also note that hard work does not necessary translate to success, it is just part of it. All fail athletes can attest to the fact. You also need to be in the right place at the right time, some gift and some luck as well.
also F DSP and these companies that have no respect for the trainees. Take responsibility. I'm surprised no one has gone postal at one of these fn companies like FNC, DSP, YG, Star Empire, Pledis, Hybe, CUBE, and others. Treat people like sht you deserve whatever you get. I'd lock the door in a meeting and be the only one to exit.
They said two members would be joining... and then they only chose 1. They hated her that much that they changed the rules 😓 rest in peace, Sojin. You deserved that spot.
These people have signed up with the devil. They are trading their souls for fame & money. But before they see all that money promised, they are used up to the last day of their young lives. Even when they are dead, the music sale still belongs to the organization, not to the dead's family. Another words, they are bought like they bought the animals to work for them. They use the horse until it dies. Yet, the money they are making on a horse, they still own the money at 100%, not to the previous owners.
What DSP Media should have done was debut the 7 girls as a new group, because to be very honest, if Sojin had joined KARA, she would have failed, you see when Youngji finally debuted with the group KARA fell into decline and only managed to be with the group for less than 2 years, that's my opinion.
Also, if she's "too old" then don't have her participate. This should be a qualifying criteria. Makes me even more mad. How dare you f with people if you know you're going to discriminate from the get go! 22 is NOT too old are you kidding me. This was KARA's last breath anyway. Youngji only got that last album and had to wait how many years for the comeback? Give me a break. KARA was the first girl group to sell out Tokyo Dome. DSP blew it. They could have and should have sent them on a world tour. They could have sold out 500-1,000 seat theaters world wide. Same as YG losers. They could have sent 2ne1 on a world tour. Even if they broke even they could have generated so much more money. They let gold mines sit as if there was nothing there. What joke!
Nah... what's actuwlly wrong is to debut a 15 yr old or ANY MINOR. they are pverworked and without parents all the time. Shpuld be illegal in my opinion. Not to mention that they are made IDOLS by people, and yet they are kids. How do u protect those
Im such a nerd.... I didn't realize Somin from Kara project is THE Somin from KARD until nearly 3 minutes into the video when the narrator mentions it. I didn't recognize her at all. 😂
DSP had only two groups back then and that was Kara and Rainbow, one strive and the other never peaked to their potential. Wish Sojin would have the chance to hear their side of the story, the struggle just get their name to the public (their era was better since there’s not that many competitions, but still failed to get noticed). That amount of training basically locked your future for only one possibility in the future, similar as to Jiwon (Spica) but thankfully she pursued other ventures like theatre productions later on. The girls in the show didn’t take into consideration that they will be in a group that could disband at any time, not to mention a filler member. For Somin and the other younger members, they could debut in a new group since they’re not in their twenties yet, but for Sojin and Youngji it’s their last shot. Wish Sojin would venture out outside of DSP since they never gain momentum after Kara. From Rainbow to April to Young Posse, each girl group failed to gain momentum. Only Kard made it and they’re a coed group (and the only active one). The pressure from her father didn’t help her at all, as well.
I always suspected her to be the big winner. She fit so much in Kara. I was so disappointed when Youngji won like that girl nwver completed all the mission and got screentime for her injury. Im not saying Youngji isnt talented but she is way too young for Kara who is doing sexy concepts during that time. Sojin is really like the mom to all baby kara. She may have felt she wont win but for the company to just dump her, is just so unfair.
I love how debuting a minor is considered better than debuting a 22 years old. And girls don't join the army. So, only reason is sexism and ageism. Imagine calling a 22 year old- too old. She is not a grandma.
@@mygrammarsucks yes it depends on the companies thats why now a days underage early debut its better they become more successful if they debut in an early age but back then if you debut 21 to 22 they think they can't be successful but jin and suga prove that age doesn't matter if you become successful or not
@@sugalover93being underage does not guarantee your success.. nowadays companies look for underage children to debut just to feed the p_d_s . there's a reason why girl groups are forced to wear short dresses.. maintain a child like body with no fat..forced aegyo..k-pop is so much worse than people think of...the words don't go out because government is also involved
KARA is my ultimate bias among 2nd gen kpop girl group but I never forgive DSP for what they do to Sojin. I refuse to have anything to do with April. One of the worst company ever.

I won't allow you to steamroll over Ahn Sojin's wondrous legacy so you can boast artificial success.
Ahn Sojin was robbed of being an idol. KARA member or not, she deserved every bit of it.
never even heard of them.
22 is extremely young omg
Yes
RIP Ahn Sojin.
Both her suffering and death sounded extremely unfair. I hope she's in a much better place now.
These management companies have no idea what they doing. They consistently mis-manage so many careers. RIP, you sweet girl.
R.I.P. Queen's ❤
I feel for her... I'm turning 22 this year and I fear I will never get a chance to achieve my dream by now...
Never give up on your dream, work towards it, don´t loose hope and i´m sure you will make it
This is painful to watch...
It's really sad what happened to her. She was so talented and full of life. Some female idols debuted in their 20s and some from the most popular girl groups, like Bom, Dara, Jia, Narsha, Miya and Sojin at 25, Irene and Solar at 23, and Moonbyul at 22.
the pressure put on all trainees is unbelievable
it is so sad that be younger is sometimes more important than being talented
DSP, Superstar K, SM, these are the leaders in the kpop industry which have made the industry more toxic and abusive as years go by, instead of better.
Chaekyung is the mvp. She debuted multiple times and still didn't give up to now.
Rest in peace
She was my fav in this show ;(
This is why I think that the age system in Kpop is stupid you should be able to be an artist at any age not very young and I hate the fact that being in your 20’s is considered to be old to be an idol like NO ITs NOT being in your 20’s is still very young and that’s why I don’t agree with people when they say oh your in your 20’s that’s to old to be an artist or idol like just shut up your basically telling them to give up just because you are in your 20’s and I do not support the training system at all and I hope the Korean government will change this because this is getting ridiculous
I know her because of Sowon.. Both of them are best friends and it’s sad to see how her fate turned out to be.. RIP Sojin 🕊️
I followed soj so much, i even said i wanted to dance and sing like her. When they posted the news, i cried so much... Rip...
But since I'm a girl And I wanna be a K. pop idol This Might be harsh for me But I'm gonna still do it
I will support you!
Well I hope you make it and become successful! Never give up!
OK first of all, 30 yrs is not even that old
what 30 year old has all the time in the world to wait for their debut? You can wait years before you get your debut.
@@YuChen-ih4gt ooooo wow thats a LOT of reasoning lol thank you so much btw
The companies and the judgemental so called fans are so cruel and idiotic. Trainees are HUMAN BEINGS, not PRODUCTS. For God's sake. RIP, beautiful angel.😢
When i saw her became 3rd place, i knew she was gonna end her Life...she looked beaten and so Over everything....DSP comment just pushed her over the edge.....
But i wished she was stronger so that maybe she could have gone Acting.......
Koreans the first thing they think is "SUIC***"......
So Sad.....i hope she rest in Peace
this is so fucked up, i feel so bad
Same 😢
You could also look into Shannon Williams - her entire career was ruined by her company MBK.
and now shes The Voice actress of Jett in Valorant.
I remember when I watched a video about Kara project omg😭😭😭😭
I remember when my friend told me this years ago, and i shocked af
hara is also in Kara, so rest in poece soojin and hara
F DSP they have blood on their hands! and F her father - he should have been more supportive she was so talented and beautiful!
Nothing will change as long as there are consumers of the products.
I remember watching this show.. it was airing in 2014
giving up education to become a kpop idol just to not debut after training for years must be painful....i feel so sorry for these souls..
That is so sad.
They like them young
It's not the industry fault the fault is on the fans that pay and support the industry
OMG!
also F DSP and these companies that have no respect for the trainees.
Too old? What about talent?? So sad, she must have been under so much stress!
Being a woman is hard why are we considered worthless after a contain age
Rip 🪦 Ahn Sojin, You are missed by so many
The fact that she only ranked 3rd when they need an "adult" member.
😢
Moonbin 💔😢
RIP
What joke!
Can any one comment First we have to give audition or take training Please comment 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
The industry used her and then abandoned her when they didn’t think they had any use for her fuck the industry
Nah... what's actuwlly wrong is to debut a 15 yr old or ANY MINOR. they are pverworked and without parents all the time. Shpuld be illegal in my opinion. Not to mention that they are made IDOLS by people, and yet they are kids. How do u protect those
I remember watching this and i really thought Sojin would win. I love Youngji but Sojin would have been perfect for Kara
Im such a nerd.... I didn't realize Somin from Kara project is THE Somin from KARD until nearly 3 minutes into the video when the narrator mentions it. I didn't recognize her at all. 😂
She is only 22?!
The pressure from her father didn’t help her at all, as well.
and Ajax
I always suspected her to be the big winner. She fit so much in Kara.
I was so disappointed when Youngji won like that girl nwver completed all the mission and got screentime for her injury. Im not saying Youngji isnt talented but she is way too young for Kara who is doing sexy concepts during that time.
Sojin is really like the mom to all baby kara. She may have felt she wont win but for the company to just dump her, is just so unfair.
Omgg no one talks about her
I love how debuting a minor is considered better than debuting a 22 years old. And girls don't join the army. So, only reason is sexism and ageism. Imagine calling a 22 year old- too old. She is not a grandma.
Too much
but suga and jin debuted at the age of 21
It depends on the companies they are in
@@mygrammarsucks yes it depends on the companies thats why now a days underage early debut its better they become more successful if they debut in an early age but back then if you debut 21 to 22 they think they can't be successful but jin and suga prove that age doesn't matter if you become successful or not
@@sugalover93being underage does not guarantee your success.. nowadays companies look for underage children to debut just to feed the p_d_s . there's a reason why girl groups are forced to wear short dresses.. maintain a child like body with no fat..forced aegyo..k-pop is so much worse than people think of...the words don't go out because government is also involved
Oh naur D:
The idol industry apart from the big 3 is just shit
It's disrespectful as hell to use these deceased idols for views..
KARA is my ultimate bias among 2nd gen kpop girl group but I never forgive DSP for what they do to Sojin. I refuse to have anything to do with April. One of the worst company ever.
😢😢😢
Korean again, that’s what I do like it about Koran, why can they do like others country? If u have skill no matter they age u should be able to start to any company, and they need work on color of the color skin, body size, Korean need to do better and change this stupid rules. They society is changing hopefully one day Korean will change too
Sojin was actually 2nd and Somin was 3rd.
This is the by I hate dps media
