I was wondering that wish steam had a feature where you could cash out to real money directly from steam market (and if that was possible will it be profitable for steam or not) But after seeing this video it seems if cashing out was possible it would be a disaster
Why would they? It would be considered gambling and if the money stays circulated in Steam funds they will make even more money this way. Money on Steam isn’t considered “money” it’s considered “funds” and is a microtransaction which is a legal loophole to have case gambling.

To summarize the first half of the video. 4 guys, were allegedly participating in the Bitcoin, which they pumped the price and scam a lot of people. Valve took the issue to their own hands and banned them. The reality was that they weren't the ones pumping the price, someone else was. And the people who bought the item, scammed themselves. Basically 4 dudes got banned for the wrong reasons, BUT some of them were able to get their accounts back as Valve misunderstood the situation.Valve needs to get better at their jobs.

i just got into csgo and care more about skins than the game so far and learning about steam market and all ur videos is a huge thrill of a rabbit hole to go down and coming from mmo's that people do lots of sketchy shit like this i can only imagine these chinese devs are using these game items to sell in bulk for hacked accounts and whipe their balance probably with no refund possible just my own thoughts idk if theres an update to this tho lol

He's the dev, he can do whatever he wants. So hamsters did bought those, and what? Someone's loss is the other person's profit. That's the market, you buy - you sell. And Valve got 13% out of every transaction, so what's the problem?

(i assume the API key would allow him to delete _all_ items from the game, not just the ones he added himself?) unless the actual people behind it somehow locked Steve's account out of doing anything at all before they used the API key to do the shit that they did? which i guess is possible, but i feel like Steve would've said more than just "i am powerless to stop this" if something like that was actually happening. either way Steve was the one who shared how to use the API key to add items to the game, so i don't think i can feel too bad for him even if he wasn't behind it all. unless ofcourse he comes up with a similar story to the RUN! developers and proves us all wrong!
