    Love flax since forever. Used to put it in the kids meatloaf or a variety of dishes!

    I didn't know you had to keep the ground flax in the freezer.

      I thought she said if it’s NOT ground fresh flax then keep it in the freezer. So ground fresh should be okay room temperature.

      @@3utych1a I keep the ground in the fridge and the whole flax in a mason jar. I buy it bulk.

    Doesn't flax act like an estrogen in the body?

    • @AquariusManASMR
      @AquariusManASMR Год назад +1

      similar to soy, which Barbara says is harmless estrogen unless it is sprayed and or gmo. Organic plant estrogens are not even 1/10th as destructive as mammalian estrogen in dairy, or estrogen/hormonal endocrine disruptors in things like plastic and pesticides. That being said, I still avoid soy as it is not necessary to consume. I'd rather go for lentils and other protein options. A bigger issue with flax I feel is that it is goitrogenic and anyone with a thyroid issue may have problems with that. It is consumed raw so the goitrogens don't get deactivated. Use chia instead in this case which is non-goitrogenic.

    I love her, but she is not getting enough. You cannot get that much from a plant-based diet. No matter how hard you try. It ages you and it’s aging her. I can tell by this interview she is not mentally as fit as she was.

      Are you joking? She's 69 years old. She looks way healthier than most 70 year olds out there.

      Sorry, but if you want to compare who is more malnourished between vegans (or Barbara herself), and most non vegans, we can certainly talk about that. The comparison is not even in the vicinity of being close. Meat eating people are from age 40 onward facing a multitude of health issues. By the time they are 60 they are on medication, almost unanimously across the board. Medication = being kept artificially alive. All the longest lived and outspoken health advocates on both sides of the food debate, during the last century, were vegan or vegetarian. They all outlived the meatatarian folks by an average of 20-40 years. Now vegans can still surely be malnourished, I've dealt with that myself.. But I recognize it was my own fault eating the wrong foods, in the wrong way, and not enough of the right foods. B12 is a common complaint, but over 99% of people deficient in B12 at this moment right across the planet are still consuming animal foods - which may surprise you. The industry propaganda against veganism was not only incorrect, but flipped 10 fold back onto itself. Organic grassroots veganism is healthy. Watch out for corporate veganism that is trying to make you eat lab/fake meat.
