I've always had trouble with depression through winter. Partly because all of my family members passed away in winter. This winter I decided to look at it as a resting time for all living things including myself. I took naps when tired, went to bed early if tired at 6 pm etc. This has been the fastest winter I remember!! I think it's 90%mindset.

I had a korean boyfriend that came to the US for university. He and i went hiking one day. I prepared bulgogi kimbap and some chamchi mayo kimbap. Prepping the veggies alone took hours. But it was really worth it when i surprised him with it at the top of the trail. I swear he almost cried. He took like 20 pictures and saved a few to give to his korean roommates.

    Hi Sarah! Hi Kyuho!
I absolutely love it when you share the beautiful cherry blossoms with us! I love Kyuho reminiscing about family road-trip Kimbap. My mom used to make rice balls, teriyaki chicken, and side dishes, as well as sandwiches for our road-trips…..Memories. I’m so happy that you’ll get to visit Canada this summer. Sarah, I love that Kyuho loves to travel with your family! Praying that you’ll be able to find someone to take care of Beemo. Have a great and safe week!

oh, i have so many things to say:
    - omg that park!! i absolutely LOVE the flower explosions. the blossoms are beyond beautiful. there's calm stillness to their fragility that moves my soul. here there aren't that many cherry trees (there are many other kinds of trees that blossom), but we definitely have them at the japanese garden- and they become the queen of the park every time they're in season
    - i have to remember to eat before watching your videos! now i *have* to order a pastrami sandwich
    - i am soooo happy that you'll be able to visit canada! and yes, flying is incredibly expensive. i have family in the US that i have not seen in years because i just can't afford it. i used to fly often due to business but my new company doesn't have budget for travel.. so I'm doomed ha
    - inflation... i understand how you feel. look up argentina's year-on-year inflation rate to see what we have to deal with (or don't, otherwise you'll get depressed)

    • @2hearts1seoul
      @2hearts1seoul  Год назад +1

We always make it a priority to visit that park a few times the week the cherry blossoms come out 🌸 So sorry to hear you haven’t been able to visit your family due to crazy ticket prices :( It just seems like it’s getting more and more impossible for so many people. And inflation…yikes 😢

And then in sandwiches. We also make sanwiches with liver paste and cucumber. Some times we also use Rye bread. And then on the side tomatoes and Fruit. 😊

The only thing I hate about winter is the darkness. I love snow, snowstorms and prefer the cold vs heat. Being in Montréal our winters can be very grey and depressing. I visited a friend out in Alberta in winter. I loved how sunny it was! Very sunny. Although much colder like -40 cold but it didn't matter to me because the sun was so bright and shining. Also it is dry cold so it doesn't penetrate like a humid cold does in Montréal. It would be like -10 which is warm for winter here but it was so dark and gloomy and nightfall started after 3pm not 5pm it drove me mad. 😢

As for what food for picnic. You (or at least Sarah, probably knows) in the States, it all depends on region + culture & sometimes ethnicity. Everything from southern fried chicken, to sandwiches as Kyuho mentioned. I'll be happy to be getting out more as it's finally being to warm up after long cold winter at 7000 feet elevation just south of the Rocky Mountains . As for cherry blossoms, small trees called double Cherry Blossoms for their lovely, fat blooms (haha) lined my little neighborhood on the east coast of U.S. when I was growing up. You're right, it only lasts a week or 2 but it was glorious, with many blooming trees + bushes of all colors

I can relate to the plane tickets - I’m in the US but my mom lives in Mazatlan. Cheap flights have these weird overnight layovers which makes the trip over 20 hours (mazatlan is not that far!) @@2hearts1seoul I’ll definitely have to see cherry blossoms if I ever visit Korea in the future. A city in Japan, Fujisawa, (mayor Tsuneo Suzuki) donated/planted 3 cherry blossom trees 6 years ago to park in my city that has a lot of flowers in summer, around 10,000. I’ll have to see if these cherry blossom trees are actually at this park in my city.

As far as pick-nick foods, I don't think it's specifically Canadian but for me a container of Hummus, fresh veggies and crackers is a must. It feels healthier than dips made with mayonnaise or yogurt. Plus it's widely available in our supermarkets, avocado hummus, beet hummus, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, options are limitless.

Ooohhhhh yes!! We are hummus lovers in this house, and Kyuho makes the best hummus 👀 We’ll definitely have to try that this spring before the weather gets to hot 😅

벚꽃이 예상보다 뻘리 피었어요, 작년보다 빨리, 봄나들이 스케줄에 차질이 있는 분들도 계실듯,, Cherry blossom blooms earlier than expected, faster than that of last year. Some people may need to change spring picnic schedule. 15:52 남산 뒷 둘레길, 산쪽이라 벚꽃이 대략 1주 정도 늦게 핍니다, 거기도 괜찮아요.

I live in Australia and my personal choice of picnic food would be fish and chips by the beach or river, and a charcuterie board with some wine during jacaranda season!

When i was a kid living in Iran my family would make some different variations of kookoo (patties) and wrap them in sandwiches. It would usually be kookoo sabzi (herb patty) or kookooo sibzamini (potato patty). They're both really easy to make! Maybe give them a try if you find some recipes online for your next picnic! I think most people would like the potato one.

It's so funny that you played that clip from Wintering, I know the voice of the narrator from a series of novels I listened to. 😃 The trees here in Germany have started to blossom, too but it's raining all the time so I don't really get to enjoy them. How is the yellow dust situation? better? Thank you for the beautiful images!

I live in the US ( East Coast, New Jersey) No sandwiches in my picnic basket. 🧺 Roasted and fried chicken, a couple kinds of cheeses, bakery bread, cucumber wedges and cherry tomatoes and an olive salad, sliced ham and salami and a spread or dip of choice. Fruit, usually grapes and watermelon if in season.

I know Italy is one of the western countries, but in the south of Italy for picnincs they take a pasta omelette. Yes, literally, leftover pasta from the day before cooked in the omelette base, sometimes they add cheese too. They way I am describing it is not the best but it tastes really good!

It's not just you--I was shopping for tickets to fly home to the US (from Sweden) for the summer and the prices were up at least 60%, some airlines well over 100% price increase. I've decided to not go and wait instead; my parents are having a new house built anyway so I'd rather wait for it to be finished so I have a comfortable place to stay. I'm hoping that if I fly at the end of the summer the prices will be a bit lower since it won't be vacation season. I loved your Cabot Trail trip, my family takes trips like this, we rent a house, go somewhere beautiful and vacation together. I'm lucky that my sister's husband and my husband are like BFFs, it makes all of our family gatherings so enjoyable.

I know that North America East Coast feels. Traveling to Asia from here is rough and expensive. None of the good airline deals fly out of many East Coast airports, save for LaGuardia. At least Dulles has some good nonstops to Hong Kong and Tokyo, but that’s still a 15-hour stretch.

A tip I've heard from some travelers.... if you have the right airplane ticket, a lot of airlines offer a full refund on cancelled tickets so people who travel a lot will go ahead and buy their flight ticket and if it goes down in price then cancel that ticket and rebook with the cheaper price with a full refund. Just something to keep an eye on. I am hoping SO badly that ticket prices go back down since I have future international travel plans.
