Gotta love these chill videos, just life stuff! Way back me and a mate were supposed to watch the "New" Mad Max film but we kinda left it a bit late...the only available screen was a small one...with no incline so all the seats were at the same level...basically the worst possible way...since that was the only way to watch it we passed
Shimonoseki always seemed like a cool coastal city to me. I've always wanted to go to Akama Shrine, since the Genpei War is one of my favorite periods in Japanese history.
The temple, sure. One of these days but the fish market is unlikely. You need to get there really early, like 6am. I hate waking up early. I'd have to get up around 5am to make it in time for all the fish market auctions. I'm sure they must do some selling later in the day but it's the morning where everything gets crazy.
@@RetroCore Wow thanks. I'm mostly interested in the temple anyway. ^^ I've been to Noryangjin many times in Seoul. So once you've seen one fish market you've kind of seen them all. I look forward to seeing the video whenever it comes out!
I do live this cinema. While it only has 7 screens, 5 being small, 1 being that crappy Screen X and the main massive screen with Dolby Atmos, I prefer it to the massive cinemas in the city where I work. This one is so clean, has amazing seats and if you watch a movie on the main big screen, has one of the best sound systems I've ever heard. Best of all, it's only a 5 minute train ride from where I live 😁
They have both versions for every foreign movie. The Japanese dubbed version is always relegated to the small screen with out Dolby Atmos 😁. As it should be.
Thanks. I do really like this theatre, well besides the crappy Screen X. Tope Gun Maverick was very good. I honestly had no intention to watch it but after hearing how good it was I caved. Glad I saw it.
Can't help but notice PLAN 75 in the theater. Go see it, I know the filmmakers and they have made great stuff in the past. Ironically I haven't seen it yet due to it not being released in USA yet lol.
Sometimes Japan gets movies first but more often that not they're released months later. For example, Ghostbusters Afterlife came out here in February this year. I owned the 4K BluRay before it was even on the cinema!
Lol, thanks. Yeah, I'm sure people think I can't speak Japanese because I don't flaunt it on my videos but the truth is, of course I can 😁👍. I think it's about 24 years now. 22 in this city though.
It’s a shame the screens didn’t live up to the hype, but I’m glad the movie was good. As others have said, it seems strange that there are so few people around, especially near the cinema.
Yes. So from Kyushu the last station would be Moji. From there the track splits. One track goes to two more stations in Kyushu while the other main track continues to Honshu. Once you travel under the Kamon straight (basically the sea) you'll arrive at Shimonoseki. However, if you are traveling by Shinkansen, the last stop in Kyushu will be Kokura (that's actually where I work) and the first stop in Honshu will be Shin-Shimonoseki. That's two stops after Shimonoseki. Same city, just a different station.
@@RetroCore Thanks! I went to Japan just once, and took the train that way. The memories are fading away, but I knew the names and you helped me remember :)
Nah, the missue hates the cinema. She hasn't been in over 30 years. I often go on my own. Yeah, as soon as I saw the Back to the Future car, I just had to buy one.
The tower is amazing. There's a lot of phallic shaped buildings here in America. Most notable are The Washington Monument in DC, Empire State Building in New York and Space Needle in Seattle. I might see Top Gun in IMAX giving the oppression to see it.
I'd recommend seeing Top Gun Maverick in iMAX. My local cinema doesn't have iMAX but the screen is huge. Even sittingbin the middle of the theater you need to look around to see everything. It also has a killer Dolby Atmos sound system. I remember when I saw Blade Runner in there the bass was so heavy it made the screen vibrate. Awsome sound!
How tourist friendly would you say Japan is right now Mark? Speaking from someone with a 4 year old who very much admires the Japanese culture and enjoys these videos you do greatly.
It's very tourist friendly but getting over here is still a pain in the backside. Also, while it isn't law or never has been, you will be expected to wear a mask when in crowded areas and inside any buildings.
@@RetroCore I'm fine with the mask, when in Rome and all. I'll probably visit one day when my boy has flown the nest and wife has more than likely divorced me! Thanks for the reply 👍🏻
Yep, as mentioned in the video, my city is pretty dead on a weekday night. During the day it's busseling but after 8pm once the shops close, its dead. This video was shot between 8pm and 9pm.
Normally I would but this was filmed on the phone. Lol, just thought of what my phone would look like with two muffs (wind shields) on each end covering the stereo mics. That would be quite the sight.
Well, to be honest they shouldn't be here so they've only got themselves to blame. Once a visa expires, you are meant to leave the country. I know many people couldn't return home because of Covid so they could apply for a special designated activities visa that would allow them to stay on a refugee kind of status but still work so that they can survive. But even now, those people should be going home since covid restrictions are more relaxed across the world. Well, apart from China.
Sucks that they tricked you with false advertisement. Did you ask for your money back or is that a big no-no there? Is it rude to ask about cultural differences this glibly? I had to pause and check if that movie poster next to Dragonball with the kids in the pool was for Itami's A Quiet Life because it reminded me of scenes from that, and, yeah, it's not... I suppose any movie can have two kids in an athletic style pool and that movie came out like 30 years ago, but, hey, classic movies get rescreenings. Let us know if you have recommendations for Japanese movies if you get out to see them now and then. I'm on the fence about seeing Maverick: loved the original Top Gun but I saw it when I was a kid and doubt I would consider it all that good if I saw it for the first time today... not that I would hate it either. I'm pretty sure the same director did Near Dark, a pretty unique vampire movie, she knows what she's doing.
Nah, we don't ask for our money back here but I know I'll never be seeing a movie on that screen again. I always use the massive screen with the Dolby Atmos sound system but I thought, I'd give the Screen X a try. Never again. Sadly I can't recommend any Japanese movies as I don't watch them. They're all very much the same and the same as Japanese TV dramas. They also have the same people in them so... Yeah.
@@RetroCore I've seen a lot of good ones that were all pretty distinct from one another, but I've also seen garbage, and I'm sure a lot of the ones that don't get recommended my way are in the latter category. It's much the same in the U.S., most of our movies aren't worth your time but some are great, and nowadays it seems like Chris Pratt and Mark Wahlberg are in 80% of both.
so weird see big city like these with so little people moving around, I mean Japan should be already free of lockdown right ? coz this just remind me how lockdown practically make many Big city around the world like graveyard.
Japan never had any lock down 😁. Its actually against the law to restrict peoples movement. There is no lock down now of course but this is kind of normal for a Tuesday night in this area. It was about 8pm to 9pm when this video was shot. The crappy weather wouldn't help either.
Mid-sized German towns would be rather empty as well during weekdays near midnight, except maybe near the train station (which can get sketchy for Japanese standards)
Ah, you mean the change in colour? That's not dirt, it's the way the material reflects the light. The darker areas are where the material isn't pressed down. You'll notice the lighter areas are where people's bottom and back would rest.
