Driving around CR is not fun at all. However, I see them working on the roads all the time and Ticos will always tell me how much better it is now than it was 10 or 20 years ago, so I am optimistic.
How the heck is this medical thing going to work if they're short in the medical field and medical specialist are leaving ??? I believe they are going to start building a huge Hospital 🏥 in cartago and no personal,, btw the Hospital in Turrialba is a new facility with no one to work they are limited,, don't understand your buddy's reunion with these high profile people them knowing there no medical help unless humm they're planning to staff these medical facilities with foreign medical doctors and specialist,, now we all know money talks for those that can pay and I'm sure those doctors won't turn money down and on a side note ; "crime" crap can't hardly go out without getting shot dead or stabbed or something,,, Costa Rica is Effed up at the moment,,, no protection for anyone...

Is it smart to do a complicated hip revision in Costa Rica? The only orthos who’ll see me in West Tennessee are at Campbell Clinic. I was a lifetime Pres St Luke’s patient in Chicago.
As far as US assistance to Costa Rica goes, its no secret the "America First" movement seeks to reduce economic and humanitarian assistance. Security funding for borders and fighting drug trafficking is likely to remain in place or possibly increase. But Costa Rica is so far off the radar of the incoming administration that change may take a few years-or no change at all and CR continues to fly under the radar.
Yes, hopefully the US govt will reduce all foreign aid to zero, and keep it there. That will allow US citizens to volunteer their money if they choose, and choose where it goes. This is a better, moral approach, rather that what it has been for decades. What it has been for decades is the immoral confiscation of their income (at gunpoint) to fund foreign countries/wars/etc...
Costa Rica unfortunately will continue its downward slide. Its government is corrupt and as a expat seeing, it’s not getting better. As long as the world economic situation worsens, Costa Rica will suffer. Instead of focusing on BS projects, beholden to the IMF. President Chavez should push Bitcoin as Bukale has done.

I feel if the CR president goes to Trump will be able to secure more funding for borders and drugs.
