Brian brings a perspective to the backup role that is rare by showing us the mental preparation it takes. Starting not starting, and going into games on short notice. A special player.
So many negative people, come on guys. Not everyone is Tom Brady. Hoyer has been nothing but a class act team first guy. This guy played in the pros for years and how many teams called him up to come play for them? That doesn't happen by luck! 95% of people couldn't start for their H.S. team and some of these people want to try and degrade a guy like this. Hoters made millions of dollars to do what he did! Thanks Brian for you tome with the Patriots. You know I always thought that we had the greatest fan base of everyone. I guess when times are tough we see who our real fans are, the ones that root for you win or lose. I think we just collected so many band wagon fans over the years and it was easy to root for us when we were winning all the time! Now we see! Go Pats!
People are staring to understand how important back up QBs are, last year 60 QBs played in the NFL. Having solid guys who can come in and manage the team is critical. More importantly every day in the QB room being a support and intelligent teammate. Clearly based on the draft this weekend, teams realizing 2 QBs are not enough.
Interesting, the psychology of a player that embraces the backup role…for years. He has a great attitude. Seems like a guy you’d really want on your team.
Johnny Manzeil (on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast) blaming Brian Hoyer’s “lack of support” and the disrespectful way Johnny said Hoyer treated him in the Browns’ QB Room, as being a big reason for his precipitous “fall from grace”. Johnny kinda “spoke out of both sides of his mouth” during that podcast interview, as he seemed to take SOME personal responsibility for becoming a bust in the NFL, admitting he liked to party a little too much and didn’t realize how hard he would have to study the Browns’ playbook and work his tail off just to survive in the NFL. So I give him credit for showing SOME maturity. But then all of a sudden, Johnny starts spouting off about Brian Hoyer! And I’m like, “Seriously, Johnny?!?”
That’s why you’re a forever backup. I thought wow I’m in Monday Night Football! Should never be thinking like that while playing in a game. Much better path than me!! But you’re focus wasn’t there
Yep..he refused to enable his druggie teammate who clearly wasn't prepared to be a pro..I'll take 15 yrs as a pro qb for 4 teams as a testament to his character vs Johnny No IQ Football whining
@@paulmccarthy2032 degrading your teammates for going through personal problem is not the trait of someone of high character. You obviously lack character yourself so of course you would come to Hoyers defense.

Sick of the constant never ending praise for Tom Brady. It’s enough already. “Oh he’s so wonderful! He played w/a broken finger! Oh! So tough! He just played through the excruciating pain!” Hey if I was drugged up with pain meds AND a pain blocker injected into a nerve who couldn’t?
I take offense to this because i personally know this man and you have no idea how wonderful this guy is. Everyone loved him. There's a reason why Brian had a long NFL career. In the realm of football, there are players who shine brightly under the stadium lights, captivating fans with their dazzling skills and undeniable charisma. They make news. They change the team on the field. Then, there are those who work tirelessly in the shadows, their contributions often overlooked but profoundly impactful. Having a backup like Brian is valuable. He knows the offense. He can manage the game. He will always support the next guy. No questions asked. He knows his limitation. There's a reason why without physical talent, guys like this stuck around long enough. it's because his selfless attitude, and reliability serve as a testament to the enduring impact of a true team player.
Much respect to Brian. Always liked him, including his days at MSU. You're a great example of what it means to be a New England Patriot.

Great interview. Brings some new perspective to the legend of New England.
Tom's broken finger story is insane 🤣
Amazing stories, Brian should do more NEP commentary
Fantastic interview. Brian delivered.
Excellent production. I wish him the best.
Awesome Love the Pats from the past, can we get a defensive guy next time LETS GO PATRIOTS
Brian Hoyer, good guy
Great interview!

Dude just needs to finally become a QB coach.
I completely agree.

Before Super Bowl Hoyer watched Rams "Hard Knocks" and learned thier signals. This won Pats Super Bowl (Rams scored only 3 pts).
Not just from Hard Knocks. Hoyer played under Sean McVey when he was an OC and knew the tendencies.
@@michaelhartling6809 Hoyer was the real Mvp. 3 pionts!

Drop the “sort of”. You are a broadcaster.
Okay serious question, it’s going to sound silly but think about it: Is Brian Hoyer an all time top 100 Patriot??
“I know I can still play” Could he ever really play?
The answer is no lol
Uhhhh yeah you don’t just putt around in the nfl for 16 years because you’re a bum.
all the experts lol
Another do nothing in life judging others. How I know this is fact you a keyboard warrior questioning ability of a NFL QB.
Thanks Hoyer…but back up is it.
