As a 70 year old musician this the most enjoyable live performance I’ve ever heard! To the girl who screams, I hear your joy! I’ve watched this 30 or more times!
I discovered Billy only 2 weeks ago. Every day I keep finding more of his music. Most orginal amazing musician I have seen in many! Years! This is coming from someone who spent many years with music. From A-Z.
Yeah man, Billy strings literally fell out of the sky for me a few months ago....i dont know shit about bluegrass or being a musician, but this is without question fun AF to watch!
Blessed our God in heaven for bringing such light as your pick in to his beautiful earth... Can't stop digging the energy you all share... Acoustic mountain metal all the way youngblood... Please stay sober and true to your roots...
MOLLY TUTTLE??!! I know this was recorded in 2016, but I haven't seen Molly around in forever! Between her Billy, Sierra, Lindsey, and the rest, the only one missing now is AJ Lee. She's got an amazing voice! Great job y'all!!😄👍👍
When I was ten (early '60s) my guitar teacher told me to take some Bluegrass lessons from someone in the business. I think he was right. Thanks Mr. Schmit. Oh his son was Timothy B . . .
That is the first time I’ve ever seen Sierra Hull when she did not look bored with her accompaniment. She actually looks like she’s having fun and working hard to keep up.
You might want to differentiate between the two. Seems you've not been paying much attention to the bluegrass, non-industrial, side of things. Very much in good hands for a long time, and the foreseeable. Note the education programs at Berklee and ETSU among others. Check out some of the folks at Augusta Heritage Center festival, at Grey Fox, FreshGrass, etc., etc. Dunno about the industrial boys.
He took the time to learn how to pick fast... Unlike others like ME myself.... Feel ashamed when I watch him. Can't play and build guitars at the same time was my excuse... I will play more guitar from now on!!!
It is certainly a G7 sound. I think he's taking his finger off the A string to hit the 2nd fret on the D string to lead into the 3rd fret which is the 7th.
Tim Donaghy G add 7 and 9 By the way: the 7th 9th and 11th notes of G are an F triad. The 1st 3rd and 5th of F are the same as 7 9 11 of G. Other people here are CORRECT. it's basically G or G7 or F with G in the bass or G11(TRice) Same in key of C. C Bb F CGC The Bb is the flat 7 of C and transitions in to F. Or in D: D C G DAD The C is the flat seven of the D and transitions into the 4 chord of D which is G. Then 151 to finish. So it's a 174 modulation And a 151 perfect cadence.
I watched this because of the name Billy Strings was on it. To start I’m watching him, and out of the corner of my eye I detect the right wrist movement of a guitarist. I thought that has to be Molly a Tuttle. I look right and there she is. My god, that’s how indoctrinated I have become. A few more seconds I realize Sierra is up there too. All the Usual Suspects. I’m getting old, but the music has, if anything has improved. Looking through the other comments: these videos are embarrassing in one respect: the sound guy needs to realize Billy “pushes” off the other soloists. He can hear them. Maybe the live audience can as well (although I doubt it). The viewers cannot. This is like eavesdropping a phone conversation and only getting half of it. Have you ever heard of “call and response”? Learn your part of any show. Do a sound check, learn your craft. You can apologize to Molly & Sierra later.
Growin up in California, you're not much exposed to this kind of music. Pops would always say to me that Bluegrass players were creme of the crop when it came to pure musicianship. I never much understood what he meant by that. Until now. Hot dog.
Tyler C what part of Cali bc the father's day bluegrass fest has been going on for last 40 years.... there is also this one gathering called Hardly Strictly..... huck Finn jubilee if you are part of the southern empire.....
This clip will go down in history. Been watching this for a couple years and always come back.
Quite the lineup

What a fantastic lineup. And they’s all having fun!

Wow, Billy Strings is great, and there is Sierra Hull in background. What a backup group!
Hey sound guy, give her some volume!

Sierra, Lindsay, and Molly are awesome go girl power!
Indeed. But Sierra wins me over for the facial expressions.
When I was ten (early '60s) my guitar teacher told me to take some Bluegrass lessons from someone in the business. I think he was right. Thanks Mr. Schmit. Oh his son was Timothy B . . .

Two of my favorite artists together on stage
Witch two there's like a lot of talent up there.
All the young talent.
Billy you are the best!!!
Billy strings gets insta thumbs up from this guy.
Bluegrass doesn't get much better than this and there are some of the best bluegrass players in the world on the stage here.
What a show that musta been.
What a line up!
Awesome and half
amazing....these young folks may save country/bluegrass music yet. I love these folks!

Sierra Hull attended Berklee.
Heard a couple of excellent guitarists from ETSU at the Charleston SC Bluegrass festival.
Everyly brothers
Artists.
Wish I knew what kind of pickup Billy has in that guitar - sounds so natural!
I heard he has always uses K&A. But this is the internet... so take it with a grain of salt!🤣🤣🤣
He has rig rundown
Minnie pearl violin says, howdee!
Great classic bluegrass harmony that girl
Bluegrass just makes you smile !
That's the first time I ever saw Dan Settle play with anyone
That would have been one heck of a jam I am so jealous not to have been in it LOL
you ain't bona fide
Q. How much fun can you have with some wood and strings? A. This much.
Rock on bill...
Billy look'in at the watch at 5:07 Haha!
Hallelujah! Bluegrass is saved!
Molleeeeeee!!!
ビリーストリングスとモリータトルが一緒に演奏してるの初めて見た。
Ya buddy!
the "YEAH!!!!!!!!!" guy is awesome
Oh YEAH !!!
THAT'S Right !!! :))
Molly looks like a female version of Tony Rice when she's playing.
This line up is the goods. Is this whole show somewhere?
turn the women's volume way up sound-man!
wow........
Dave Evans Dave Evans Dave Evans
Look out Buddy! Queen Tut is gonna give you a run for your money! LOL
1:25 you are feckin right Billy turn her up sound guy!!!
He has 12 fingers.
He took the time to learn how to pick fast... Unlike others like ME myself.... Feel ashamed when I watch him. Can't play and build guitars at the same time was my excuse... I will play more guitar from now on!!!
😂🤣😂🤣
If Billy and Molly got together, their spawn would be the hottest gittar players on the planet...
I don't think his girl would like this comment,.as they all live in the same house.
point taken...
Yeah, well if you think ol' Billie hasn't snuck down the hall late at night a time or two, you're probably mistaken. @@mbsnyderc
Molly has some long fingers!
Her brother, Sully, has the same long fingers and they fly about as fast.
What is that chord he's playing in his first verse between the G and the C? (0:15)
G7?
G7 would make sense in this song, but it seems like some sort of chromatic chord - his hands aren't playing G7 unless he's playing a variation...
It is certainly a G7 sound. I think he's taking his finger off the A string to hit the 2nd fret on the D string to lead into the 3rd fret which is the 7th.
It's just a G
Tim Donaghy
G add 7 and 9
By the way: the 7th 9th and 11th notes of G are an F triad.
The 1st 3rd and 5th of F are the same as 7 9 11 of G.
Other people here are CORRECT.
it's basically
G
or G7
or F with G in the bass
or G11(TRice)
Same in key of C.
C Bb F CGC
The Bb is the flat 7 of C and transitions in to F.
Or in D:
D C G DAD
The C is the flat seven of the D and transitions into the 4 chord of D which is G.
Then 151 to finish.
So it's a 174 modulation
And a 151 perfect cadence.
A younger version of bluegrass all stars.
So the soundman turns down the mandolin....
If you gonna steal a violin at least have the courtesy to remove the price tag first! lol 420

Yup !!!!!!!!
Turn Molly up while you're at sound guy. I could barely hear her.
Agreed
I don't know why but when she's playing it's like she's always turned down
I wish the gal in the audience that keeps screaming would put her beer down!
.. Hard to keep quite digging on such hot talent
She's gettin it, leave her be.
Fire your sound mixer.
Molly and Sierra look like they have. Lot more fun in more recent videos than this.
Is this Billy Strings also known as William Apostol .?
Yes
Jerry reincarnated as a fiddle player?
Molly was way to low
Se always is.
Too bad the sound guy wasn't paying attention.

Until now. Hot dog.
There a fair amount of bluegrass in California. The Tuttles are from the Grass Valley area, for example.
Tyler C what part of Cali bc the father's day bluegrass fest has been going on for last 40 years.... there is also this one gathering called Hardly Strictly..... huck Finn jubilee if you are part of the southern empire.....
Cute mando solo and player!
Three time mandolin player of the year, and a Grammy nomination as well, and yeah she's cute too.
Finding it hard to ignore the catarwallin of the crowd. Surely the end of the song is a more appropriate and respectful way to show appreciation.
Lousy sound mix!
