Brazil's AFRO City: Salvador, Bahia

- Опубликовано: 29 сен 2024
- In this one will travel into the heart of the Afro Brazilian experience Salvador, Bahia. Surprisingly, Salvador does not get the same amount of recognition as Rio de Janeiro. In Rio, I was told Salvador was dangerous and unsavory. Either way, we will move through the Upper Downtown area of Salvador to feel the real experience of Salvador.
Lets GO!!!!

smh You got PLAYED DUDE..That Chika wasn't feeling you at ALL!!! Can you say FREE MEAL!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Lmao…. That wasn’t our first date! She’s in the Miami Little Puerto Rico and the La Perla vid….. she’s been around a lot longer than it may seem
@@KeenanLambert198 Serious question..I lived in Miami couple yrs..and much of Fla.. There's a definite Latino/Hispanic vs BA DIVIDE.. What's changed??? Not mad.. JUST SAYING..
Up in New York we grew up close with Puerto Ricans and then Dominicans that came afterward.... Not too much divides here.... I'm a New York born Jamaican, many of the latinos here just feel like other caribbean people.. + a language difference....
@@KeenanLambert198 Good to know..I've never had issues with either in New England, Mid-Eastern/Western, Western US... Yet.. THIER NOT BLACK PPL!!! So WHATEVER... 🤬
@@KeenanLambert198 And I get that...Don't FCK with Black Americans...Ur IMMIGRANTS...NOT ADOS.. 🤨
Homelessness is a problem everywhere but actually just so yk Brazil has a smaller homeless and inadequate housing crisis than for example the UK.
Favorite Brazilian city?
And yes, you have to use that coupon. These are trying times for everyone. Save every dollar possible. Keep it real
Absolutely.... Its important I think...
No, you can’t use a coupon in her presence. With anyone else, for sure. Man I want to go to Brazil! What an amazing place. Loved the glimpse of NYC and the comparison. Your the best Keenan!
Thanks so much Ron! I hope all is well out in Cali! I saw a little dip in the price.... 484 now... It has me wanting to run back! Ahhhhhh hahaha
Rio vermelho
A missed opportunity
I lived in Sao Paulo from 1988 to 90. Visited Salvador, Bahia with my Brazilian friend Janete at the time. I've been back 2 times since then but it's been a while since I was there. Nevertheless, I always try to keep up with goings on in Brazil and though I don't get to speak much Portuguese I still read and listen to it fairly regularly. Thank goodness for Netflix and RUclips. Funny thing is that my French tutor is Haitian. When I started with him about 3 years ago he was living in Brazil, but he recently moved to Portugal with his wife and daughter and though we both speak Portuguese we never speak it. We always speak French and English. Brazil is one of my very favorite places. I love Brazilian and their culture. Yes the women are beautiful, but there is so much more to Brazil than the women. Brazil is pretty much as big as the US and very diverse. It has the largest Japanese community in the world outside of Japan, a huge population of Italian descendants and tit has the 1st or 2nd largest population in the world including Africa of people of African descent. Damn, can't forget, it has top rate musicians. Man, I want to go back to Brazil right now.. I'm afro American (US) and I spent 25 years abroad in 5 different countries not including those I visited but didn't live in. I'm old not but travel and learning languages and about different cultures literally changed my life. Those things are my hobbies. It started for me with a backpack and a flight to Amsterdam in the mid 70s. Don't wait people; one can continue to travel when one is old of course, but it's just not the same but even then it's soooo nice. Beleza! Finally, I love Brazilian Portuguese way more than Portuguese from Portugal.
As always Thanks for the sights and education. Definitely looks like my type of town… cultural, active and real.
As far as using a voucher on a first date… Hell Yea. If she’s too pretentious to eat 1/2 off food let her go Bro.
Salvador is dope my brother..... And absolutely, if she is not trying to save you money - she isn't the one..... Gf's with an ego are horrible... Cata and I been together for a little bit.... She's a keeper.
@@KeenanLambert198 You’re a wise Brother.
If she’s a keeper then keep her.
Ain’t nothing you missing out here in these streets.
Shorty was a dime, yo!
Smart, sensitive, attentive and beautiful…. What more does a brother need?
Slavery was truly a monstrosity
And yes I will use a voucher so long as she doesn’t see it 😅
Lmaoooo!!! Why y’all afraid 😭😭
Wayne, did you know there is a new theory that black people were already in the Americas in mass before Slavery….. A RUclipsr named Dwayne Calloway has pushed it and people are running with it.
My friend, a very good, short review of Salvador. A man has to eat, si? This is the first video I can recall of you profusely sweating on camera. Must have been very hot (and humid?). The cane juice vendor's sign had the English (?) word DETOX. Did you notice or ask? May be the reason for the flavorings?
Brother Joe!!!! Blessings and shout out to you in Canada... Salvador was extremely humid and hot..... Pressing up that hill from the bluffs activated my sweat glands.... My brother and I inheritated a heavy sweating condition(might be hyper-hydrosis) from a great-grandparent..... In the summer, I melt.... Literally, just melt lmao.
Poxa escolheu na maioria dos locais, os mais desorganizados e feios de salvador
Also the Lebanese food, which is amazing. In the upper-right corner of ruclips.net/video/WgsR_xjp1Og/видео.html it says "lanches arabe", Arab lunches. That phrase is also very Brazilian Portuguese, in that when a plural noun an an adjective are paired, the adjective is often singular, as compared to the more "proper" "lanches arabes". A lot of linguists think that this is an Africanism, as it doesn't have any parallel in other Romance languages.
Thanks so much for the lesson!!!! You taught me something... I appreciate it family.... I might dig into this... Not for a vid but my own research... I wonder what they do in Angolan Portuguese
Rapaz, vc foi na avenida sete hahha animado 😅
Bro...in ATL a haircut is minimum $40-$50 😫 But I am saving $1800 on my apt from NYC 😉
Lmao!!! I know you miss NY though.... Being able to touch the street and enjoy yourself at anytime.
Keenan... Gimme dah granny deh nuh me bass😂😂The one u gave the pesos😬Run dung is the word fi true. Man is a modern Bond... Keenan Bond.

I will keep hitting family! The channel is here to stay!
So sweet giving money to the elderly lady❤ We still catching hell🤯all over the world😢Sad
Good video. At my age, Salvador looks to be about my speed. Rio looks too fast but I’d still visit.
Another informative volg. Thanks for the adventure 😊❤
Thanks so much as always Leslie! I appreciate it!
Thank you so much for this concept, I'm so emotional, I can see myself in those guys over there, it's my prayers to come and see how my beautiful African are doing in Brazil especially Salvador Bahia.🎉
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
slavery was sanctioned by all Christian denomination and all Abrahamic faith
LOL! Brother, you can have a serious video and still show the fine women...😂😂😂
Lol showing the fine women has to be incidental..... Seeking them out makes it wrong lol!
Great video my brother, keep up your good work.
Thanks so much fam!
thanks!!
Thank you so much for tunning in!
Hmmm...Brown Sugar by Deangelo comes to mind...
LMFAOOOO
Listening to the whole trafficking black people is insane. 😂 when you think about it, it sounds European minded to make one believe they were dominating beautiful places and they brought us here to work and build it up 😂
Natives of Brazil still exist.... They're brown people with straight hair... Many have some admixture at this point but they still exist. Pre Colombian contact, when do you think Black-African people arrived in South America in mass?
@@KeenanLambert198 The brown people with straight hair are Pardos. Varied racial ancestries. Multiple backgrounds. Mixtures of European. Indigenous. Middle Eastern. Asian. African. Jewish. etc... Pardos are 43% the Brazil population. Blacks are 7% - 8% of the Brazil population. Black people are a minority in Brazil. Pardos are predominantly European. The barber in the video is a Pardo.
I was refering to the indigenous population... The majority found in cities like Manaus.... Race is complicated in Brazil.... I used to date a woman who was light skin yet Afro similiar to Cata.... She told me most would refer to her as brown/mixed but she indentifies as Preta. Most would look at my Mom in Brazil and call her mixed.... Yet she would also rather indentify as black..... I thought maybe the barber would be indentified as white.
@@KeenanLambert198 Cata is the same complexion as my cousin. That complexion is viewed as Black regardless of light skin or dark skin. Examples of the complexion viewed as Pardo would be Eva Longoria. Jessica Alba. Vanessa Bryant (Kobe Bryant's wife) That is the Pardo complexion. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. Jennifer Lopez. Those are Pardo people.
In that case, the Preto/a population should be much higher..... They did refer to me as negao anywhere I went lol
Great job, sailing from Mindelo to Salvador, enjoyed your informative video for our research.
Thanks Rauf! Have a safe and prosperous trip to Salvador, Bahia!!!!
Good job, nice video, but I want to see more of Cuba, Santiago y matansas. I know Africa is a long way, but have you ever thought about Ethiopia, they are the best looking woman I have ever seen, I dated one in Washington D C, sad to say we broke up, my fault.
Big ups Ainsley! I filmed 3 videos in Cuba just now..... All out of Havana.... I am going to do Santiago at maybe the tail end of the summer..... DId you see my Matanzas video? Surviving communism vid?
Winning.. This is a great video! Best quote.. "hello..bon gia" by the way i know no Portuguese so i don't know if that how it is spelled, but will look up a few words on Google translate before i go lol😅 Biggup 👍
Lmao!!!! Sister caught me wayyyyyyy off guard with all of that riddim... HAHA! You were close enough "Bom dia" Try Brazil brother.... You will get great content.
@@KeenanLambert198 it's already in the plans, I flew back to DR first for 2 reasons.. 1st my son's birthday and spending some time 2nd the flight rates from Colombia to all the major hubs in Brazil from Colombia didn't make sense.. It's actually cheaper for me to fly back to DR 🇩🇴 then fly over to Brazil using AraJet in the future 🛫 prices for Brazil is crazy.. That's why I ask that question you haven't probably seen as yet about day Paulo to Rio..by Uber I think you said, I'm trying to make sure.
@@richesmethod Oh oh! (Happy Birthday to your son and congrats). I caught an online special on a random Tuesday a month in advance for only $29.... I think Philly Dom used buses in Brazil... That ride is surely a bit grueling meanwhile the flight is only 50 mins...... Bogota to Sao Paulo or Manaus.... or even Belo Horizonte might be low via Avianca..
@@KeenanLambert198 ok a flight from sau Paulo to Rio.. 👍
Great video
Thank you my friend!!!!
It's always good to have lunch in good company!
Absolutely, she is a keeper.
Both! Lmao, legendary lolcopter.
It was too cute...... Her English is improving everyday.
You got a great eye for lovely ladies...😉😉😉
Lol if I tell you the story of how we met you wouldn't even believe me.
Ummm isnt homeless a problem here in the states also lol…soooo that is every city
It’s not a problem in every city… In some places…. Especially the 3rd world… the community collectivizes to deal with the issue…
Sidebar… I’ve never seen a homeless person in Cuba.
Appreciate all the knowledge
Brother Barrett! You already know this is the people's channel! Thanks for stopping by home!
Hey, good to see you, bro. 💪🏽
Respect family!!!!!! Blessings!
I always wanted to go to Salvador(been to Rio) but was always told that know Portugese was a MUST esp to get at women.
That is correct
In Salvador Portuguese is a def must to have a shot.
Outstanding content
Thanks Mr. G! We'll keep this thing running.
Good job my brother
Brother Barrett! Respect as always family..... Big ups!
I would not use a voucher on a dinner date, not a good look.
Tell me more.... How does it look?
My friend Norris agrees with you btw.
I'm Brazilian and definitely Salvador is not a very good city to visit. Sounds a lot like Mississippi or Alabama. It's not very pretty there. I imagine that the part of Salvador you went to is not a tourist spot.
Are we watching you or the city?😢
Afro-brazilian is not a thing.... Everyone here is just "brazilian"
My ex-girlfriend from São Paulo says otherwise….
@@KeenanLambert198 I'm from Bahia...
@@lazulimusics Okay, is that because it doesn’t exist or how you’ve been educated/socialized….
I’ve been to places all across the diaspora and I see very clearly the cultural threads that tie together people who’ve been separated for 300 years.
In São Paulo there is an Afro Brazilian Museum too… Have you been?
Either way Afro… Euro, native or Pardo still Brazilian (I hear your point)
@@KeenanLambert198 I've never heard an actual Brazilian use this expression only gringos
@@KeenanLambert198 I didn't mean to be disrespectful or hateful, it was just a friendly advice
Your enthusiasm about everything in our country is cool
The SLAVE Narrative 🙄 just about every black RUclipsr engages in it as though that's always the beginning of black His Story! It's a SHAMe!💯 Don't Believe it!
In this video, I’m discussing Afro Brazilian culture.. It’s mix of the various cultures in Africa from which the Ancestors came from… Slavery was the cause for the forced migration…. What theories do you have the say something to the contrary?
When I return to West Africa then I can go further and discuss the kingdoms that predated slavery - if the video calls for it….
@@KeenanLambert198 i appreciate your response and especially how detailed and respectful the reply is! I personally have other life experiences that tell me that the slave narrative is a farce! Anything i mention here to dispute it still may not convince others that have been thoroughly indoctrinated to believe it!
I will say that the mass movement of thousands of black people without resistance/War is impossible! The Slave Narrative is to make You/Us more easily go along with and even put the chains on ourselves! They claim that ships brought hundreds of thousands to millions to different places in the Americas over a period, so if one begins to do the math and Critically think, then it's clearly not true! Calculate the years from the start of the supposed Slavery to the time it's claimed to have stopped. Everything from food to clean drinking water on voyages that would require months, and their need to eliminate however often during the trip. Think about the number of high tech 20 and 21st century ( most recent Carnival cruise lines ) vessels that have had extreme difficulties at sea in these modern times including in 2023!
I say this to you! You can tell a child or children anything and they'll believe it regardless of whether or not it's the Truth! Blacks around the world are like children when it comes to the Slave Narrative!
Watch the RUclipsr Dane Calloway! Whatever One wants or Chooses to Believe, they will believe! I Believe and Think a different way! And that is " it NEVER happened! Blacks were already in most if not all of those places and it took then hundreds of years to reach their populations!
If you want to find a different perspective, you will! Thanks again for the reply!💯✊🏾
@KeenanLambert198 Dem people deh sick Keenan lol. He's acting as if what you were talking about is not facts, SMH! Keep up the good work, bless up!!!
Bro, if i can't use a 'coupon' w/a date, they are outta here unless they wanna pay with their own cash. A coupon is the equivalent of a credit card that gives you discounts and savings when used. I'm definitely gonna check this restaurant out. Thanks K🗽🏙🥂💘 They have a Brazilian Beyonce lookalike on IG
