- In this one we will travel into the night of Salvador, Bahia. Unfortunately, they tried to rob me, however, lets not let that piece ruin the experience. Salvador is a city on the Northeast coast of Brazil with a strong Afro concentration and influence.... However, due to outward migration, many of the sons and daughters of this region resettle in other parts of the nation. Join me for a sort journey through the night of Brazil's Salvador, Bahia.

I loved Salvador Bahia, where I felt welcomed and relaxed . I am from a faaaar away region( Arabian Gulf), and I just didn't like Europe and never felt comfortable there. I am a Black Dark skin man like a Night with straight up African features, and Salvador suited me well. The vibe is African, and living among Brown skin folks for a whole year waiting for my vacation to escape to a place where all or most folks look like me fills me with a rushing emotions of belonging. On my first trip I stayed for 40 days and I will do it again at the end of this year after visiting Sao Paulo. 🤜🏿🤛🏿

Dont blame your insecurity on Europe my guy. Confidence is key.
I’m coming from Saudi this year did you take Qatar?
people who are just like can also treath you not good.
Finding good people that is gold, and doesn´t matter if they are brown, black, white, purple or alien.
Ok i don´t like Aliens after seeing the movie Aliens 1,2 and 3 where they just eat humans like snacks.
So i am rascist against Aliens
I felt the same brother I expected Salvador to be similar to wakanda, of course not like the real thing lol. it has the black culture, but I loved Sao paulo more.
Also make an effort to learn some basic Portuguese. If you already have some basic Spanish down, it should be easy...you should recognize the similarities.
I do actually recognize the similarities.... I can say simple things but nothing complicated... And I do it.
Dutee, Dutee!!! No Dut, No Dut!!! 👀
I usually wear black Ts and regular blue jeans and a durag. I make sure the locals look wealthier than I do lol. Nothing flashy. Never had a problem and I been to lots of dangerous areas.
lol expecting Brasilian Atlanta, discovering Brasilian Baltimore. Man I appreciate your honesty.
you have to know who you can talk to and who you just ignore and move on
Salvador is much different than a lot of foreigners think it is. It’s an old historical city. Not a party city like Rio.
As someone who lived in Salvador for many years, I can tell you that it's actually both.
@@leeantonywhere are the best places to go bro
Dear.. you are in brasil.. you shouldnt go filmming at night on empity streets... take care

LMFAO! Thats for the top secret missions.

Where’s the link to the airbnb or comparable airbnb?
I missed this one when it first dropped yesterday.. good stuff and great timing since I have been here in salvador exactly 1 week to the day of this message 😅 and I can attest to what you are saying.. my Airbnb host put me up on game my first few hours here. By the way you have to know what nights to go where and where not to go.. also Sundays and Fridays seem to be a dessert out here. Had my strange experience yesterday on Barra beach area that will most likely never make the channels content and I was ducking the b.s and dismissed the young lady when she kept trying to narrow down the exact location of my Airbnb and spent the afternoon slowly extracting info from me and teaming up with her buddy on the beach to extort higher prices on the beach. while of course ..she was avoiding giving me much info on herself.. including literally first sending me a disappearing photo of herself on WhatsApp.. When I opened and viewed it.. It literally disappeared, but I'm not new at this.. I had already screen shot her profile photo and her 1 tinder pic. 😅 just in case. Listen all this.. The Dominican republic already prepared me for 3yrs ago and Mobay 10yrs ago 🤦🏽♂️😂
good stuff
☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️ can’t trust the place at all my G!
When locals tell you an area of there town is dangerous, you might want to pay attention! A knife in the back would have made it very easy to get your money belt and anything else they wanted. Common sense should always out weigh curiosity.
I'm not afraid of a knife.... A gun sure..... lol with a gun its all over.... However, its a populated area.... Common sense told me to kill that part of the video and go home intact..... They aren't exactly local because two are from other parts of Brazil and one is from Cuba.... I was wrongfully determined lol
As a fellow big man(6’3 230)
we think we can get away with a lot. As we’ve both learned the hard way , this is not always the case
I had a similar experience in Guayaquil,Ecuador earlier in the year. Thought it was a good idea to do a 15 minute walk back to the Airbnb after a night out.
An officer pulled me over, he spoke decent English. More or less he said “If you continue walking through this area we’ll be picking up your body in a hours, you look like a gringo”
Facts!!! Certain places just have their norms…. Sigh*
@@KeenanLambert198Man I just try to get back to the states in one piece thats all. No knock on you brother but when I travel to LATAM its plain t shirts, dirty adidas shoes and a faded ball cap.
@@Nino_J I completely understand.... Blend in as much as possible.... I might as well be waving a damn.... USA flag.....
Sorry to hear that Champ
Thats the problem about Latin America. You can't drop your guard. The women are hot as hell but its like poisonous creatures that have bright colors in nature.
I enjoyed the Rio Vermehlo nightlife
ACAI is a fruit sir....lol. Love it that was my capoeira nickname, also love the capoeira music. Did you get a chance to film any capoeira in the streets?
LOL! What do you mean the shirt makes you look like somebody's uncle? I got one just like it!
Please be careful out there
I saw that coming young brother, keep your eyes open.
I take it you prefer Cuba to Brazil? Give us more Cuba vids man. Never gets old.
That’s my question as well, do you favor Cuba over Brazil please give detailed reasons please
Cuba? Aquele lugar onde a maioria da população passa fome e os centros históricos são sujos e mal cuidados?
When you stop to talk to homeless people in the street other people watch you and know that you are not a local because us locals don't do that...
Yeah,
After a while, homeless people become invisible right?
@@KeenanLambert198 Just a tip... I have lived in Salvador for a while..
Are you an artist bro because most brothers don't highlight art
Thank you family, and no…. I’m a Poli-Sci and Urban Development type… I recognize the power of art in urban areas and how it speaks without making a sound….
Art + music + history + culture + food and a thin overlay of debauchery is the channel in a nutshell.

What restaurant did you eat the fish at?
Bar Sol Brilhante (Bar das Putas)
And
Arubarra have the same menu and recipe
So I hit the spliff and watched some Netflix and started to ponder on the biggest business venture in human history yk the European invasion of the Americas and it donned on me how slavery was probably very different down there in SA. Not to be too long but there’s a conversation to be had about how slavery varied from location to location and the severity of the conditioning that took place. I’d like to hear your insight on what you’ve learned from your travels…
That's a small part of history in the Americas. The biggest is the industrial revolution and industrialization in the 19th DMD 20ty centuries in northern US states and the technological advancements in the US in the 19th and 20th centuries. Basically aside from Europeans in the US for 2 centuries, the entire Americas has been nothing more than a backwater..
@@TitB1199 I wouldn’t call providing Europe with fortunes worth of raw materials backwater…

My friend brought one back from there, she ruined his life in the matrix.
You are brave walking around Pelourinho with a camera filmando at night..with a group of people would have been better or during the day time..😮
Sorry hear that bro! Please be safe my brother!
Good video, Acai is a very nutritious fruit, grown only in South America, very good to consume, but I usually ask the maker of the drink to lessen the addition of sugar. Salvador, from what I was told on my visit there is not a safe place after dark
will you ever visit he women in places of worship? there are beauties there also.
Brother Keenan! You continue to make it happen! Great Video, a Scholar & a gentleman my friend!
Bless up family! I have more heattttt coming soon! Actually there is one more you may not have seen yet.
Gotta be quicker than that lol...
Alright K, visit someplace new already!😂
If you are still in Salvador, I have the number of a great tour guide.
I'm here right now
I like your night to day edits lol
Whhhhhhaaaat ⁉️🤯
First to comment- Loving your content as usual. Living the dream 😊
Too many risks, young man! Be safe.
Yeah, it probably would be wise to walk around with a local to show you the layout of the land.
Bem vindos ao Brasil 🇧🇷
Muito obrigado!!!!!
Dude, you were very close from where I live. I live here for about 40 years and I can tell you: even though I am very well known from the local folk, wrong-doers and thieves, I am ALWAYS extra careful and keep my eyes peeled when wandering on Barra's streets. If I'm not on Barra, I triple that alertness. Unfortunately, besides being so beautiful, Salvador is pretty unequal and from that sense of inequality comes crime and violence. Good to see that unfortunate event didn't ruin the idea you have about us though. Hope you're well and best regards, bro
Coming in few months, where to stay, trying to be near everything food, nightlife.. hmu
Yooooo!!! The best nightlife is in Lapa… the best bang for you buck on hotels in Copacabana…. Doesn’t make any sense to stay downtown…. Uber is dirty cheap but you might not be able to get service when you are trying to Uber back home…. Have some cash for a cab…. It’s only like 7 minutes drive…. You did the visa thing already?
@@KeenanLambert198next week I’m there!!! 1st stop Rio then Salvador
Great vlog, are you the brother of Daniel Comier MMA Fighter from the UFC.
You are fighter too ?
Pelourinho used to be a great place to visit on Tuesday nights, but it’s been dead for awhile. Be careful with your camera out in the streets!
My man Keenan still out there. My exit from the states was supposed to be YESTERDAY, but it's gonna be seriously delayed. So I'm a little bummed, but my old girlfriend from my NYC days was happy I'm staying, but I told her I STILL ain't moving back to NY--that 10 year experiment is over. I'm still gonna try to make it Bahia with these old bones and try a little Capoeira before I'm too rickety.
But look man, what SIZE camera are you doing your walk-arounds with? The only thing I plan to use is either a Osmo Action of probably a Dji Pocket. You know, you might have a very successful video if you did a safe advisory type video. "The 10 things to keep you alive when traveling." For ex. I thought for sure the "tourism" guy was trying to put one of those "free" friendship bracelets on you. But stuff like the money belt thing, keeping a tiny mix of denominations in different parts your your body (if you're just determined to hand out money on the streets), cameras in ares that spook criminals, women "helping" you, etc., When I was in Venezuela DECADES ago, I never even used my own clothes, and bought local stuff in the most basic local stores. Wolters World does this for his demographic, and you can do a nitty-gritty for yours.
Bro.K. Good video, interesting. Got my attention at the :20 mark with the mulatta in the LBD. The back streets look much like la Habana Centro. I would think you do your homework before visiting anywhere Cheers from the far east...of Canada
Looks like you booked a studio in Bahia Flat on Oceanica Ave. In my opinion the studios with a Patio facing the beach what makes up for the small space .
Do you living in Salvador Bahia???
Unfortunately no, but I will return!
@@KeenanLambert198 ok
Salvador is nothing like Atlanta or Baltimore and that's a good thing.
Whatever you are eating at the end of the video is certainly not açaí. 😅 Açaí is a purple berry. It's most certainly not white.
Lol! I asked them for Açaí!! Lol I’ve been tricked yet again 🤣…
I expected to see an abundance of black wealth…. Instead I saw black people still deep within the struggle (Baltimore)

What's the best country u visited so far?
Look boring compared to many other places... good to go just to see it but at this point in life best to just go to hott spots only
I think I did it wrong….
this too sketchy for me
Simple solution: be more aware of your surroundings. Amo a Bahia.
That’s why I was wearing a money belt
simple solution: put some muscle on, learn to box, look people in the eyes, look tough and not like a goof ball like this dude
No lamb man glad you ok
Stay safe!
Those ladies on the beach tried to give you some advice… and you thought they were being “classist”? Come on man… This is their city… not yours. Now you know why they said that.
One was from Cuba…. The other from São Paulo and the other from another part of Brazil…. I smelled classism.
@@KeenanLambert198 There are many Cubans here in Brazil. In fact, several people from all over the world live here. Just because she is from Cuba does not mean that she does not know the city. She should consider the opinion of the woman from São Paulo. São Paulo is extremely violent. If she says that a certain place is violent, it is because it is. We always see news about all the places in Brazil, and Salvador is one of the places with the most robberies in the country.
