Because this video ran so long and was an absolute pain in the ass to edit (3 rounds lmao) I had to cut an extra topic we talked about. It was about the polarising aspects of CP and the common criticisms we see. Let me know if you'd like to see it because I will happily get around to editing and posting it ☺️ Also go check out Tyler's channel here: ruclips.net/channel/UCxdx26k0KwwwGLzdzTnoj1A
I'd be really interested in the cut about the common criticisms, because I just usually encounter people who stopped reading after the first book and just write the whole series off ;_;
I love hearing your reactions and analysis for everything, and I'd love to see an episode for the short stories! Also I never thought about it being a ballet before, but it totally works.
When I tell you I screamed when I got the notification for this podcast..... my roommate literally ran into my room because she thought I was dying!!!! This was like reading tumblr posts on steroids with a lot more incoherent noises! It’s like going through all the emotions I had while reading it and kinda cathartic at the same time!!! I have not been able to stop thinking about this book series since I read it almost four months ago so this got a lot of my pent up feelings and thoughts an outlet so thank you both!!!🥰🥰
AHAHA YAAAYYYY and thank you for listening/watching! ❤️ It was super cathartic for us to talk about it as well since we NEVER spoke about book 3 until then. But to part with Damen and Laurent is kind of sad 😭 they've been living in my head for months but still. I'm gonna have to almost forget about everything that happens until I re-read it again. Also Tumblr posts on steroids? Love it 😂 😂
I found a short au on ao3 called No Rush by Blacktofad where Laurent is introduced to Damianos by Auguste when they were young and it's soo good, it's Laurent's pov.
watching this in 2022 and it was so fun! my thoughts are exactly the same as you, and you both were so funny!!! rrally loved the commentaries you both had at every scene. for me its crazy how despite reading the books for the first time around 2016, yrs later i still think abt them everyday no kidding 😭. and same as u, they really ruined me for other enemies to lovers stories because i still havent found anything close to this and now i want to reread them for the nth time. tysm for sharing!
Aw thanks for watching! The way I'm STILL on the hunt for a book that will surpass CaPri 😭 its crazy. But I too feel that reread coming on 😂 haven't reread these books since recording these podcasts eps!
Agh, fantastic analysis! I was laughing throughout the entire episode, though I managed not to cry. I actually got the notification for this episode as I was heading to dance, and yes yes yes to ballet! Literally cannot get Captive Prince out of my mind when I'm at the barre. I picture Laurent en pointe (I think it would help convey the androgyny described), and doing many, many frappes.
Omg Greenwood you're amazing!! 😆 I know nothing when it comes to ballet or professional dance so you're giving me great ideas 👀 I just looked up what a frappe is and I can imagine Laurent doing that as well as en pointe. As you said, anything that can convey his androgynous qualities and attitude. Also does frappe mean "to strike" because if it does, this just keeps getting better and better for Laurent. Also also the costumes would be STUNNING ✨
@@sydnarrativeit does mean that, which is why it came to mind! I also see fouettes for him("whipped turns"). And yes, the costumes!!! Spiral lacing, embroidery, gauze, furs, armor, and short chitons, which become their shortest while dancing:) (Also Jokaste needs a solo)
That's so cool! I've gone down the ballet loophole of RUclips now 😂 and those chitons will be REAL short now 👀 But yes Jokaste needs to have her time to shine! I also quake just thinking about Laurent and Jokaste battling it out in a dance omg.
I don't see why not ☺️ I've just ordered the physical book (though I've already read them but I've forgotten a lot 😂) so if people want it I shall get to it!
