    I think it speaks volumes about the State of Affairs here in the U.S. that all of the various MSM - with their 24-hour news cycles - have not been able to squeeze in this very pertinent 9 minutes anytime during the past decade.

      How could they? This is a recent video. They could have done during the last year though.

    Ray: Nikita Chruschev transferred Russian Crimea within the Soviet Union
    to Ukrainian Soviet Union for a very practical reason - a huge investment: North Crimean watef canal. This canal was to take fresh water from Dneper river in Ukrainian part of the Soviet Union and supply dry lands of Russian Crimea. The huge canal, with mainflow several hundred kilometres long and many times longer distrubution canals would be very difficult to plan, coordinate, build in due time if not within one decision and organisation and execution body.
    So Nikita Chruschev transfered Crimea to Ukrainian part of the Soviet Union so that all relevant decisions would be coordinated and executed from Kyiv.
    Just after the bloody coup d'etat in Kyiv in 2014, as Crimean people decided to return to Russia, Kyiv cut the canal. Crimea (Ukrainian as per illegaly formed government in Kyiv) was devould of watef for agriculture, industry and municipal services.
    Kyiv made an act of terror upon its own people!

      Yeah but it's not like I'm gifting say Uncle Ray an empty parcel of land- build whatever you want. Grow whatever you want. There were people living there - people who did not consider themselves Ukrainians.

      @@tatianalyulkin410 For the people it did not change anything of importance.
      That;'s right - in Crimea, almost all people did NOT consider themselves as TRUE Ukrainians. They had, and have, Russian ethnic banckground. Many had and have, mixed bakground.
      But NOT a TRUE Ukrainian background, as it means nationalism and neo-nazism.
      Before partition of the USSR, there should've been thorough adjustments done.
      As it went almost overnight and through tearing off the chunks iof the state in ill-will, Crimea became a part of then a separate and independent country of Ukraine, not a part of a large whole, as earlier for centuries.
      This was a wrongful founding act.

    So, Putin understood that the US/NATO would put nuke missiles in Ukraine if Ukraine joined NATO, which was likely, which would play into the hands of hawkish US military leaders looking forward to nuclear war with Russia? Yet Putin would also have been aware that US best first nuke strike capability resides in its submarines. Anyway, despite worries about US hawks, Putin invaded Ukraine. Where is the Putin logic in that?

    • @bozo5632
      @bozo5632 Год назад

      I don't know what Putin thinks. But I've read what many US strategists have said about how encroaching into Ukraine was a sure way to force Russia into war. And it worked.
