Quick tip if you do not play on default controller settings, it seems that you must have auto melee and your grenade bound within your super or else the game won't register the cancel of your powered melee. So if you have a lot of remapped inputs you may have to change to auto melee and have your super bound to your bumpers.
Bizarrely enough, this is a new change. I've ran my controls the same way for years (with rb for uncharged melee, B for charged melee, and auto melee unbound) and have always been able to skate, I stopped playing when light fall came out and just got back into yesterday and was searching up and down the Internet to see if Bungie had patched it 😂
I had been trying for literal months to do it and couldn't figure out what was wrong and why I couldn't jump nor cancel while sliding. It was simply my auto melee not assigned. Your comment truly helped me and got it instantly after. Thank you a lot 🙏🙏
my uncharged super does not do an uncharged melee attack as an alternative. I have my super button remapped on my controller is it possible that that is the reason that it messes up?
Still trying this out! I used the same controls as you, but for some reason if I hit slide and then super+jump too fast it automatically ic dashes even when I don’t hit B again, any tips?
@@Luckytheproto Just to clarify, the combo is slide, jump, then super. Then you throw ic dashes after. In your first comment you said super then jump. But if it’s not that I assume you play on a custom button layout on controller? That seems to make it not work for some reason. I think you have to be on default button layout
@@Xotic040 I do get the burst of momentum after snap canceling (bounce out a distance). But I lose it after Icarus dash. Thanks for such lightning-speed reply
@@tonywu8c8c after you get the initial snap cancel try hitting your jump key once and pressing ic dash faster. The faster you do all of the inputs the faster and farther you go. If you’re losing the momentum after ic dashing you may not be pressing jump after the cancel at all, or perhaps you’re not doing it fast enough
@@tonywu8c8c np. But yeah once you get burst glide ic dash down, whenever you revisit snap skating. Practice doing the initial cancel, then add a single jump to carry your momentum, then once you get that down, put it all together and add an ic dash right after the jump
The faster you do the inputs the faster and farther you’ll go. I immediately hit my jump and super button after sliding and then follow up with another press of my jump button and then ic dash. I’d just recommend keep practicing and you’ll probably get faster and faster the more you do it.
@@floopified1292 actually let me be more specific. I don’t disagree that you don’t get a ton more distance from a regular ic dash and a snap skate, however, imo it’s the bunny hopping and jumping that you can do after the skate to help you carry your momentum and speed that makes it better.

@@mrwaffou8117 glad it helped!
absolutely love this video! learnt how to snap skate for the first time off of it, and its inspiring me to try again with wellskating.
Glad you enjoyed!
Thank you for this video Xotic. I had no idea that this could be done.
@@Robin35758 glad you enjoyed!
Icarus dash alone felt nice, but know i can snap skate its different in crucible!
We going flawless with this one
every video gets better!!!
Thanks broski 🤘🏻

Thank you! means a lot

You might have to make a separate binding for your charged and uncharged melee in your controller settings.
Can you tell me the keybinds
Im on controller, and it keeps throwing my grenade every time

I checked that too but it still just automatically dashes for no reason

sadly can't do it on my controls, i mean fair my jump is LB and super is down on the d-pad bc wellskating is sk much easier
wtf is that cursed setup💀

I keep failling it. Can i do this with "hold crouch" setting? I cant see any other reson why i keep failling.
Yup I use hold crouch. How are you failing it? Are you not getting the burst of momentum at the end?

IF ONLY PRISMATIC HAD ICURUS DASH!!! Uuuuuuuuuggggh
I believe this to be tied to fps same as titan skating bcs for me its literally the same speed as running or sliding without the snap 🥲😀
Its like 2 meters more than a normal icarus dash there's like no point in doing it
Not true whatsoever. If you do it properly you can cover way more ground a lot faster
