The only movement tech I left off this list which I mentioned towards the end of the video is GROUND SKATING. I don't think it is currently super useful for many areas of the game, nor is it the most consistent to do. Others mentioned SNAP SKATING. For PvE snap skating is borderline useless. For PvP it might be better, but this video is geared towards PvE.
snap skating is really good because it works on stasis and strand if u wanted an icarus dash like ability. combine it with a bunny hop and a scroll wheel.
While it can only be used sparingly, I feel like ground slam thundercrash speed deserves a mention. Also bubble skating but that is far less viable than the others.
Hunter ships transition is one of my favourites, something so satisfying about landing perfectly in the middle island after hitting 2 well-timed blinks.
For anyone that’s doing mountaintop jumping you want to be as close to the initial explosion as possible to get the most out of the boost. So lower mobility and hopping is the best way to gain height
Out of the respect for your hard work and diligence that I have seen in your video that I do not see in most, I will do as you ask and leave a comment. Well skating is something that I learned last week as a returning day one player. Some of your other methods I heard them called by a different name that does make more sense. The sparrow corkscrew string, is what I'm calling it because it makes me think of quantum physics and coding. That is new to me.
I REALLY hope bungie buffs eager edge back to how it was when it came out. I would also love to see glaive skating come back as that was super fun but it was definitely broken in PvP. I will always remember that joy of the first time I used a sword with eager edge. Day 1 of the 30th anniversary. The first weapon I got from dares was Half Truths with Thresh and eager edge. I looked at the perk and didn't think anything of it. A few hours later I was on the EDZ and put the sword on and WOOOSH. I think I actually yelled "Oh my god sword skating is back" I unfortunately missed worldline skating and always wanted to do it. So when I swung an eager edge sword for the first time I got goosebumps. Later that night I was running DSC with my group and between vault or whatever the opening encounter is called and Atraks I put it on and accidentally hit one of my friends, instantly killing him. I started yelling about how amazing this was and I was in love. I learned how to shatter and wellskate spent hours practicing... then just made macros for them on my mouse. I ran 300+ dares over the following 3 weeks to get other half with eager edge and to learn the loot pool as no one had it posted yet so I was making loot pools on reddit. Anyways hopefully one day bungie will just let it go back to how it was.
btw, vortex frame eager edge swords are actually better for well skating then the crafted sword, the velocity you get off vortex frames is so much faster and is just as easy to use
For the lumina grapple, if you simply hold up on a stick on controller you can hit it basically every time so long as you are quick enough with the grapple. For some reason when you are aimint straight up it will kick down so holding up negates that. That said I usually just use navigator because its easier for hitting on other spots as well.
Pro tip for anyone trying to well skate consistently with no macros if your super key is C you can turn the keycap upside down that way when you press jump if you angle your thumb correctly youll always get the perfect timing, this trick came from supergliding in apex legends but it applies well here lmao
I love using the lament version of the ground-skate on stasis hunter! You sacrifice the speed of eager edge for a more flexible but slower skate, and a stronger sword that offers more damage and healing for PvE activities!
I understand how you do this but could you do a demonstration for controller players. Like should you change keybinds on controller to make it easier. Sadly i don't have a scuff controller.
You should definitely change binds to what’s easiest for you if possible. I know someone who mapped their paddles to one part of the skate each. That way they just have to press them all around the same time and it works!
I mapped super to up on d-pad which makes well skating much easier and for shatter dive i have it activate on press instead of hold so its much more consistent.
For controller I mapped my super to my right thumbstick and my weapon selection to d pad plus bumper jumper. So to skate I’d hit down on the d pad, right trigger, left bumper, right thumbstick. The reason is that I don’t need to move my fingers at all, and it also allows for izi swapping using the d pad for boss DPS
I am a console player.I would love to see this video on regular controllers... Got to the park where you did a swap to a different subclass to use blink and realized that will probably never work for console.. due to the load times.. I'm a mid level casual player and really want to push myself "SOMETIMES " lol
Could you show what's your build with heat rises and icarus dash to well skate with armor mods too? Same with hunter, I don't know any build that goes with stompees pls ❤
Its good video but again, skating is pratically rng for me, first at all, i have input lag (i still have my game in hdd, my ssd is full) if u 1 milisecond late, u fail do the jump, 2nd, lag can also delay you to do all the thing, idk about this but it happened sometimes, 3rd and last, not everyone have superhuman speed like that, i know you guys gonna say, u can do it bla bla bla, but some people cant Easiest thing to do, buy new gaming mouse that have macro program, use macro and its more simple, again it still inconsitent for me Still good video tho but i appreciate it
A HDD shouldn't cause input lag, pretty sure it just effects loadtimes, even still I doubt it would ever cause enough input lag to prevent you from being able to skate. In game lag can or FPS drops can definitely cause issues but that is like 1/100 times your skating
The reason the camera is canted this way for many content creators is to make a clear separation from playing the game and talking to the audience. It makes a more personal feeling connection for the viewer because you get a sense of the creator diverting their attention to give it all to you. The more you know 🫡
Where’s a good place to practice well skating as if I mess this up I’ll lose my well so it’ll take ages under normal conditions. Any good places to practice
How is your super coming back immediately after you placed your well of radiance in eternity? Can't see any options in private match settings to do this and it takes forever to come back if you don't get the timing right
So hey I just came back to the game after a long break and I can't seem to shatterskate anymore, whereas it was very easy to nail everytime before, did they change anything ?
is fake skating possible on console? there’s no reliable way for me to swap back to heavy instantly after swapping off because i swap to sword with double press and it has a weird delay
I think you would have to add additional mapping to weapon swapping to make it easier. For example, left and bottom d pad could be (any weapon) and your sword. This should let you swap with the proper timing but I have not done it myself to confirm
Hey, just as a "RUclips metagame" comment: a clanmate of mine saw the video thumbnail (which I shared with our discord) and was like "yeah I guess those five things are useful, though the sparrow stuff is pretty situational." In other words, he thought the list in the thumbnail was the whole contents of the video, but there's quite a bit more here, including some useful super basic stuff like the Burst Glide/Icarus Dash interaction. I wonder if you're losing clicks because people are interpreting the thumbnail that way. Could be worth messing with if you're the sort that's interested in such things. Anyway, good stuff.
Oh, I'd also throw in Ensnaring Slam skating, which is just well/shatterskating but with Ensnaring Slam; the level geometry requirements are a little different but the results are comparable.
so sad bubble skating didn't make the cut sure it's likely on par with slipstreaming, with a hint of chance over skill, and you can't use it often because it uses your super on fails unlike well. However it does feel much faster so you can terrorize people in your raid team by bubble skating all of them off the cliff in Atheon for any reason. Unfortunately this is the only way to have an actual fast skate on titan.
I'd like to see any of you consistently skate if you're not in the US or EU, because of ping difference for most countries outside the US this isn't consistently possible.
There's a little known movement tech for warlock that's useful to cross longer stretches of land. There are 2 variants and they're both essentially just bunny hopping with some extra steps. One requires you to be on strafe glide and have heat rises active. Strafe glide has less deceleration than burst glide while using heat rises for whatever reason. Inputs are [ Sprint > Jump > Glide > Dash > Sprint > Jump > Glide > Dash > Sprint ] followed by a [ Jump > Glide > Cancel Glide ] loop until dash is off cool down. Minimize time on ground to avoid deceleration. Dashing interrupts the sprint toggle bind so always sprint after dashing. This tech really shines if you use eager edge for some initial momentum. The other method consumes your super and requires daybreak and strafe glide. While daybreak is active you can either just sprint and then [ Jump > Glide > Cancel Glide ] repeatedly or you can [ Jump > Glide > Dash > Cancel Glide ] the latter of which is more potent but is punishing if you miss the cancel glide timing. Some other stuff that is useful and easy to learn is eager edge with strafe lift on titan, slide cancelling (which works on solar-, stasis- and strand lock as far as I know) and Navigator swapping with grapple to breach the vertical barrier in places you can't use a sparrow. If we want to nitpick there's also a lot of weird tech that is useful in the right context, like how lower mobility on titan lets you go faster when you're spamming lift (weapons like Acrius lets you go below T0 mobility), stair/ramp launching on warlock is beyond potent in crucible and even though it's basic, everyone isn't aware that you can quickly elevate/launch yourself by throwing a glacier grenade at your feet. By the way, this is a very bold title to be flaunting for an incomplete video and the description makes you come across as pompous and arrogant. The fact that you then include some niche tech that has little to no use only amplifies this.

@@DdoomsxyYhunters can still skate to the ledge, Exact same path as warlocks, titans can also do it even without bubble skate (obviously)
Thanks for sharing!
For titan flying the new nadir focus sword origins trait gives you some extra distance per swing, and you can keep titan flying with no ammo.

Macros are allowed, correct? (I'm talking G HUB or Tiny Task, not scripting)
Yes, simple macros to do something like a wellskate are not bannable (although some people think it’s cheating for stuff like speedruns)
