- This is a story about the sad end of SCP-173 The Sculpture
SCP 173 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as The Sculpture.
Moved to Site-19 1993. Origin is as of yet unknown. It is constructed from concrete and rebar with traces of Krylon brand spray paint. SCP-173 is animate and extremely hostile. The object cannot move while within a direct line of sight. Line of sight must not be broken at any time with SCP173 . Personnel assigned to enter container are instructed to alert one another before blinking. Object is reported to attack by snapping the neck at the base of the skull, or by strangulation. In the event of an attack, personnel are to observe Class 4 hazardous object containment procedures.

For those curious, SCP-173’s file was the first one to be written (not in a lore way, in an actual way.) Because of this, most SCP fans agreed not to ever officially alter it, to preserve it’s specialness. That’s the main reason why it’s file lacks detail and information, no one has added any.

With its photo now removed from the website though (and therefore already having been changed) I wouldn’t mind alterations. Or even just adding one of the alternative art pieces that have been created/suggested for it. It currently feels pretty lifeless, although most SCP fans are able to picture the image of SCP-173 in their head, the article itself doesn’t feel the same
I see a lot of viewers still confused about 173's change in design (This happened back in Fall of 2022) The simplified version of what caused this is the wiki originally used a photo of a very real art piece that exists and with the wiki growing famous they've decided to change it for legal reasons The artist was fine with the use What is the weake itself is non-profit but they just want to avoid trouble/harassment in the future due to some of the people using the SCPs do make a profit such selling merch like this channel does and removed said picture and people are asked to make their own interpretations of what it looks like now and this just happens to be this channel's interpretation

It's funny seeing Secret Laboratory being mentioned. I have been one of the people watching the developer make the game. He was a lesser known, polish RUclipsr playing games with a team of other, more known polish RUclipsrs, and they often played the beta versions of this game. I remember when he released it on Steam, and nobody besides his small polish following knew about it. Those were some good times (I believe it was around 2015 or 2016 lol)

I mean, have you tried to blink your eyes one by one? under the stress, you'd either mess up from psychological stuff or time.

It's ironic. The SCP Foundation attempted to kill 173 many times. And it would always regenerate. And now it turns out that it's weakness was time and the elements. Perhaps the existence of humanity was the source of it's power. And without humanity, it could no longer live.

I did not understand the story from the title of this dangerous scp, but now I realize that it is very sad how SCP 173 and a Foundation agent now known as SCP 451 made a nice friendship, but it ended in a melancholic way without them Daryl knew; this episode depressed me a bit
It’s gets you in the feels. The last one they did like this was a few months ago with the woman who’s dog died or the the former foundation member that found Josie the half-cat during the eradication of the human race. It’s been a few months.

No, in reality, this SCP regenerates whenever unobserved. It's as if the statue takes the place of the actual being whenever it is observed.

Just imagining SCP 173 being horrified at it's inability to kill this singular human and trying to flee as fast as it could only for that human to leisurely walk beside the greatly slowed and completely terrified scp and start talking about how hard it's life is.
So, I just realized something about the statue and now I'm curious, what if the statue had a bag on it's head or something? Or surrounding it in mirrors maybe? I've heard far too many stories about containment efforts, blink and you're dead, but what about what the statue sees?
i think it can also hear and sense things, but i am not sure. the mirror trick has been used by someone in the infinite ikea (another video on this channel). But this may or may not be cannon.

Speaking of Dr. Clef, this also does not impress me that SCP 173 and SCP 451 are there alone, but I repeat, it makes me curious where all the people went, plus the SCPs that I feel that something big has happened in that universe; It would be funny to see Clef jealous of SCP 451 for how he took SCP 173

That’s dark, and real! Not *real* like this is a true story, but real, in that it reflects the general loneliness many are feeling right now, amped up and followed to it logical conclusion if one was left in Daryl’s position.
It’s interesting to explore Daryls personification of SCP-173 while also not knowing what level of consciousness it may or not actually have.
This is beautiful. Even though it's a misunderstanding it's a calm in the eye of the storm of the apocalypse. A slow mo choke is a hug in some way. I'd embrace SCP-173 too

I’ll be honest, I’ve been a little disappointed with the SCP videos of the last few months, I know there’s only so far you can go with a lot of them, but this family of channels has always been great at making stories (just look at the 7 part deep post-apocalypse story! *Fantastic*)

@@ashlirabid9614 I assume he meant that with humanity gone most scps basically killed each other and those that cause world ending events basically just eliminating themselves. or for those scps that relied on the foundation to maintain them like peanut or 2800 and 2006 basically either got killed or died in other ways.

The foundations ultimate goal is the protection of humanity, that's more important than simply containing or eliminating scps, so no they technically did not win.
@Protalghulnist less protection and more survival cause they sacrifice a village nearly every time they conduct an experiment basically if humanity dies the 05 go to another earth or restart humanity with another scp the GOC does more in the way of protecting humanity

I like to imagine that Dr. Clef went a little further than dressing 173 up and having "dates". I think the humiliation and lust for revenge 173 felt went a lot deeper...
I'd also like to imagine that in the end, it didn't truly die of old age. The head was still intact. Maybe it just couldn't move and was forced to stand in place forever, until that head crumbled as well. Which could take a really long time if 451 tried to preserve it. Peanut deserves to suffer.

The very idea that SCP 451 has no way of interacting with humans is impossible. They could easily just write something down and leave it for him to find and he would read it! And then there's safe SCPs with the capacity for speech that he could have easily talked to and would have explained his situation!

I’m not sure I would call that a sad end. For the first time in his life, he was free to go places and do about anything he wants; he died of old age which most everyone wishes that be the way they leave the world. On top of that, he wasn’t alone when he passed away.
That sounds like the pinnacle of how of a good and peaceful death.

I can definitely see that as possible, but I disagree only because I don’t believe 173 was killing out of cruelty, for cruelties sake. I interpreted 173’s motivations to be out of a learned enjoyment of the task, that began as revenge for keeping it confined by looking at it. Since it was still able to move with Daryl, there was no malice. And the desire he had to snap necks also just faded with time, the way many things once enjoyed, grow to be no worth doing for people over time.
I’m interested in your interpretation, if you wouldn’t mind sharing.

I have a question about the appearance of 173. I'm not actively following everything the goes on in the community so I may missed something but this 173 as just the head of the original scp-173. Is it and alternative version of it ? Or the appearance changed with an event ?
This was a version that they made after February 2022 due to the fact that the person who used the image for 173 stole it

Yes, if you are about to die, you can see and talk to him normally

I guess you can touch him, but he won't be able to connect the dots.
