    Mike was way past his best by the time he faced Lennox. Tyson peaked early in his career whereas Lewis peaked later. It's a shame they weren't both at their best during the same time period

    I think Lewis struggled with fighters that didn’t let him set the pace. Mercer for instance arguably won their fight, Lewis didn’t like the pressure that was being put on him. Mercer and Tyson are obviously different but it is very likely Tyson would have been able to get on the inside and pressure Lennox, bashing him up. I just think Tyson was too active and aggressive to allow Lewis to do his usual thing. but anything other than Tyson's absolute best, he loses. Lewis was a great fighter but I tend to believe that style was an issue for him. Their actual fight was no measuring stick at all, despite what Lennox tries to say there, Tyson was 15 years past it.

    Thank you for this video and the honesty and integrity of Big Joe Egan.
    It doesn't get more honest than this. It was so nice of Joe to speak about Lennox Lewis the way he did. With huge respect to Lennox, I would choose Mike Tyson every time.
    Mike was so dominant, devastating, ferocious, and dynamic. I always thought it wasn't fair for Mike to fight Lennox when they fought.
    For me, the Mike Tyson who beat Berbick in 1986 was as good as it gets. I don't think we'll ever see that ferocity and bad intention on mainstream telly again.
    Mike had a run of events where people seem to forget about. Mike had to serve a prison sentence, he had problem relationships. People who were supposed to look after him and support him did completely the opposite.
    When Mike fought Lennox in 2002, Mike's speed and athleticism were gone. Lennox was tremendously agile, much taller and so much more reach. Lennox trained with all those advantages in mind. With all those attributes in place, Lennox couldn't lose and it was very unfair. Mike couldn't get near Lennox. Though Mike wasn't the type to run. Mike had financial problems, and that was the only way he knew how to address them.
    With great respect to Lennox, I think he stayed away from Mike in Mike's heyday. At that time, Mike would have demolished Lennox, without doubt.
    In terms of devastating and ferocity, there's only ever been one Mike Tyson, and I can't see there being another. I just can't.

    Mike Tyson is my favourite Heavy Weight of all time. I love Frank Bruno obviously being British. But Mike Tyson used to win the fight before even throwing a punch. These opponents knew they were going to lose before even getting into the ring. Super boxing was back then. God Bless all of us Good Human Beings living on this Earthly World Amen xxxxxxx. As a huge fan of both fighters, and someone who followed both of their careers, these discussions between fan boys are completely pointless. Who was the better fighter? Well Tyson would have won in his prime. But he had a very short prime and was basically a shadow of himself already in 1990, not training and boxing the way he should, and just relying on power and aggression. Personal problems and bad influence ended Tysons prime long before Lewis prime had even started even though they were similar in age. Lewis on the other hand had a very long prime and was in many ways the complete opposite of Tyson. Who had the better prime? Tyson. Who had a longer prime and greater career? Lewis.

    • @shaunvduke
      @shaunvduke 16 дней назад

      I dispute your last statement. Mike Unified the division and defended it. Lewis got one belt in the post and got the other two by beating Holyfield. He then got stripped of two for refusing to fight mandatories - and yet you reckon he had the greater career?
      No-one called their staffie Lennox did they?
      Lennox could have been the best ever - just didn't have the mentality

      @@jaypee6061 mate that's bollocks. Tyson knocked out Tony tubbs in 2 rounds and they critasize Mike for fighting a bum, yet when tubbs takes bowe the distance bowe is given credit for comin through a tough fight. Same story with tyrell biggs. Then you have Tony tucker who Mike beat comfortably on points, tucker gave Lewis a tough fight. Tyson ko'd Alex steward in 1 round... Steward had 2 wars with holyfield. And how about Lewis struggling against bruno when Mike destroyed him twice. Tony tucker and Michael spinks was both unbeaten in over 30 odd fights when Mike faught them, and tyrell biggs was also unbeaten. All the Tyson haters wanna talk about is what happened after prison and not what he achieved before prison!! And also going by your logic that Lewis holyfield and bowe underestimated their opponents by not training properly... Well the same can be said about Tysons losses, he had an abcense of 4 years to go to jail.
