When Foreman lost to Holyfield yet still smiled in agreement when the announcer declared Holyfield the winner just shows what a great sportsman Foreman is. That moment made him my favorite boxer.
I met him at a basketball game in Burnett, Tx. We were sitting on the other side of the gym and my student recognized him. Foreman lost at 42 years old *by decision* after 12 rounds to a prime 28 years old World Champion Holyfield. In my book, that counts as a major victory.

That's because Big George never really got banged up much he was doing that to guys, plus taking 10 yrs off to fully revived his body and brain when he was 28-38 did him a world of good!

Apparently, you must be broke. Foreman is trying to hype his cheap products. Tyson could not get past Holyfield in prime. He lost his biggest fight after becoming champion. There is no comparable Liston that Tyson has beaten.
@Tyson MMA Exactly. Or casuals who weren't even alive to witness Mike Tyson fights in the 80's and even pre-prison. Dude was a phenom. THAT Tyson doesn't lose to Holyfield.
eLasVegas 8 News You're gonna have a hard time finding a majority of guys over age 45 who don't think that for a time NO ONE could beat Tyson...not until Don King got ahold of him.
When Foreman was young, he could take a guy's head off with his punches, he was an absolute beast. George could hit a guy anywhere and he could knock him out, he even said that himself. Most of his opponents were afraid of him, except for Muhammad Ali and Jimmy Young.
George Carter he would have been at a serious disadvantage speed wise, but he would have had the reach and size advantage. would be up there in my list of dream matches
James Hurtado Foreman would have been at the speed dis advantage. Power, reach- Tyson never felt power like George woulda put on his body. I just don't think he would have been the last man standing.
I remember when George Foreman began his professional career. He was not very likable back then. He later made his comeback and reinvented himself, and showed another side. He's one of the most admired boxers of all time, and one of the smartest.
Jesus is the reason he is living better. I don't know if you're a follower of Christ or not, but that is the reason. You just see it in certain people, and he's an example of that.
@@alvalankerofficial Yea maybe but I don't think Ali would've been able to stand that kind of snap quick instinctive speed and power. He would've got caught at some point. If not then I think Mike would've won by decision.
Yea but he'd have to open up and fight along the way. Tyson in his prime had a few fights that went the distance. He was successful in all of them. He never lost a decision. I do agree that Ali would've tried using that as a potential weakness of Mike, but I think he would've been highly disappointed in the end. Tyson throws bombs 1-12 rounds, but if he had a shot that would probably be it.
It's so cool that here's a legend that fought in two of the greatest HW eras and against Ali, Frazier, Lyle, Holyfield, Moorer, Cooney, and Morrison, to name a few. And he's sharp as a tack and a great communicator. Walking boxing history book right there
I am so happy that boxing is on an upswing. We need this for our lost youth, boxing, MMA, any type of Marshall arts. As the great Teddy Atlas says, boxing is the great equalizer.
Wonderful interview! Hmmmm, conversation 🙂 I grew up watching heavyweight boxing. Listening to George, his positivity & respect for the sport is refreshing ❤️
Foreman knocking out Moorer after taking a beating most of the fight was one of the great moments in sports history. Foreman's response afterward, going to his knees and praying, made it even better.
You do know that was apart of gameplan? He purposely "took a beating" until the later rounds to conserve energy. He didn't respect Moorers power. It was a bait and switch tactic.
You have to remember, Foreman’s comeback was a joke and a freak show attraction until that very moment. Now we look at his comeback as proof that a comeback at that age is possible.
Go watch The Modern Martial artists video on how Big George took back his title. It's an amazing breakdown of the story. I guarantee you, you won't regret it.
I heard a story on CBC Radio of a guy who driving on a city street somewhere. It was a very misty/rainy night and this guy didn't stop in time and rear-ended the guy in front of him. Nothing serious, but there was at least a dent involved. Anyway, the guy in front of him gets out of the car - it was Mike Tyson. THERE is a situation i'd like to never be in!
Mike Tyson in his prime is easily the scariest fighter in boxing history. I've never seen so many opponents wet their pants before the fight even started.
Not true...try Dempsey...and MT would lose in micro seconds against a Greco wrestler, MT never would have survived in the MMA with just boxing... Highly Over rated outside of boxing which is limited
Fun fact: George Foreman did wanted to fight Mike Tyson. That's why he came back but, he spoke with Muhammad Ali and Ali said George, whatever you do, don't fight Mike Tyson.
Curtis A Deror George has a chin on him like granite and I wouldn’t have been surprised to see him come in with the right strategy and do some damage. Whether he would win or not is the question but I bet he could hang in there.
@@billiecarlock5237 Good point. I think older George was still formidable. For example, his fights against Moorer and Holyfield. But you're right, his "monster" years were when he was in his prime.
@@west4057 He's said in the past that after the loss to Jimmy Young he had a near death experience. He said he found God, and then spent the next 10 years as a minister in the Houston area. He only came back to fighting in 1987 after getting ripped off in a deal. He couldn't fund his ministry anymore. Both versions of George, the angry juggernaut of the 70s and the pitchman of the 90s were accurate reflections of who he really was/is.
Boy I love George foreman so much man, he’s the most manliest man in the whole world. I will always take the time out to listen to him and to see if he’s ok. His home is one of the nicest home’s that I’ve ever seen and to go with it he’s made great business decisions which has turned out really good for him. His positive mind set and attitude is just warming and would put anyone in a happy mood :)
Foreman should do interviews more often, funny man and he got great boxing knowledge, don't understand why Joshua refused to have him as one of his trainers for the Ruiz rematch.
The thing I am most imprrsses by George is that he is not damaged at all. He is healthy and has a very sharp mind despite so many years boxing against the best fighters.
Tyson was on that Toad and seems like it released the demons off him and now he back to what he loves. The body follows the mind and spirit at in any age if we stay strong and healthy.
It's so funny. People have no idea. "George is so gentle..." "George is a wonderful person...", well yes that's true... NOW. But in his prime... George Foreman was every bit a cruel and sadistic as Mike Tyson. George Foreman was mentored by and was the sparring partner for the meanest SOB to ever put on boxing gloves... Sonny Liston.
@@MrStyle-sr1yv Ali cracked that tough guy act he had going , and that primed the change to come after the fight Vs Young ... Forrman was never the same man after the Ali fight
He was MEAN, a freakin monster. 2 things happened that changed him... 1st he loses to Ali. He thinks the world now sees him as week, he desperately needs to hold on to that Unbeatable Tough Guy persona he created. He schedules 5 fights in a night in front of Ali to show him and the world what a beast he was and get his rematch, but He wouldnt. Cuz b4 that he'd get beatten so hard by Young he had what the believed to be an after death experience. And then he retires for 10 years and gives up his fake persona.
George Foreman is the real deal. Points to his heart, "It's right here. Size got nothin' to do with it." The man is honest to a tee, and worthy of great respect. Also fun to listen to him in general; he's not trying to fool anyone, including himself. He admits his deficiencies and expresses admiration for those who have worked hard to improve, and have - like him - the heart of a lion.
he has a genetically thicker head.its true and was rarely knocked down or out ever ever. I do to so I'm telling you it's a real thing, I've been hit square in the face on different occasions just doesn't faze me. Foreman has a gift and is a great man
Gotta love big George, he shows such humility for one of the greatest heavyweights in history. The best line in this interview is when he is asked what he learned from the rumble in the jungle. 'You've heard the term rope a dope, meet the dope'.
Gotta say this! This man is such a gentleman! He was the best of all time! Even with his losses! He's not punch drunk from fighting all his life! He still can carry on an intelligent conversation! Gotta love Big George! I know I do!
George's lack of stamina means that he was nowhere near the best of all time. He was good for his era and his loss to the overrated Ali was good for his psyche eventually and made him realize his limitations as a fighter.
@@matthewmehegan3475 He was over rated. lol The only reason he stood out so much and still stands out today as a boxer is because of his mouth. He was a quick witted smart man and used it to his advantage. Ali's fight began before he ever entered the ring. With Ali, people didn't want to knock out a competitor, they wanted to shut up an obnoxious guy. Ali changed peoples plan and goals and threw them off, in the ring he worked to keep their mind off the fight and on how annoyed they are with him. Ali was basically a boxer with the attitude of an MMA fighter. Foreman was a slow simple minded fighter. If Ali had been a quiet man who kept to himself more like many boxers, his career would have been very different. But he made it his mission to get into the mind of as many people as he could. Though it doesn't have to do with boxing so much as being a good person, Ali also was racist toward other black fighters calling them uncle Tom's and such, talking about how they were fighting for the white man. But when you sit back and think about it, who was really the one performing for the white man and raking in all that white man money....his entire life? That was Ali. He was a hypocrite and he was disrespectful. He was also a poor sportsman. But from a purely performance standpoint, his stats can't be denied. Ali's advantage was that his attitude was well beyond his time and other boxers of the period couldn't understand it.
Crazy how this dude took some of the strongest punches ever and is still speaking and moving well at his age

@Tyson MMA exactly
The GOAT of boxing. I absolutely love this man. GREATNESS.
Max is very passionate when it comes to boxing, he’s all smiles
Max is cool but I don't like the way he talks to some fighters when the respect is due
One of the best rappers ever as well
Of course. I mean they put the guy as a boxing analyst on the movie Creed.
Mobb Deep fan in building! That's what's up
@Ahmad Sheikh-Alibruh.. is that not a dude!?
“Tyson was a monster” yes he was, but a young Foreman was quite a monster as well
When Foreman was young, he could take a guy's head off with his punches, he was an absolute beast. George could hit a guy anywhere and he could knock him out, he even said that himself. Most of his opponents were afraid of him, except for Muhammad Ali and Jimmy Young.
James Hurtado As good as Tyson was in his prime- I think George would have made quick work of him with George in his prime also.
George Carter he would have been at a serious disadvantage speed wise, but he would have had the reach and size advantage.
would be up there in my list of dream matches
@@jimgarner643 Your forgetting another one …….Smoking Joe Frazier
James Hurtado Foreman would have been at the speed dis advantage. Power, reach- Tyson never felt power like George woulda put on his body. I just don't think he would have been the last man standing.
He’s a gentleman and a great sportsman. A legend and a class act.
Matthew L. Kelly 🎯Exactly
Yea I always had love for George. Seemed like a good dude.
Matthew L. Kelly and very humble.

I’m waiting for him to bring out the George Forman teddy bear
I remember when George Foreman began his professional career. He was not very likable back then. He later made his comeback and reinvented himself, and showed another side. He's one of the most admired boxers of all time, and one of the smartest.
Amen to that!
no doubt. me either
I am pretty certain that Mike Tyson at his prime was maybe the most dangerous boxer ever.
Youngest HW champ all time
Never seen an aggressive fighter like Tyson
HANDS DOWN !!!! WITH OUT A DOUBT. IN HIS PRIME WITH OUT A DOUBT " THE BEST OF ALL TIME " He was knocking people out in under a minute!!!!!

Jesus is the reason he is living better. I don't know if you're a follower of Christ or not, but that is the reason. You just see it in certain people, and he's an example of that.
A living legend and national treasure.
World treasure
At his peak, Mike Tyson was a beast. That bobbin' and weaving before he stepped into that right or left hook was beautiful to watch.
Jai DaMann it was surgical the way he did that!!!!
Prime Mike Tyson beats any heavyweight in history except maybe Ali.
"in with", not into.
You don't realize that you're around greatness until it's gone. ... I needed this in my life. ... George Foreman - A Legend.
It's so cool that here's a legend that fought in two of the greatest HW eras and against Ali, Frazier, Lyle, Holyfield, Moorer, Cooney, and Morrison, to name a few. And he's sharp as a tack and a great communicator. Walking boxing history book right there
Indeed!!!
I am so happy that boxing is on an upswing. We need this for our lost youth, boxing, MMA, any type of Marshall arts. As the great Teddy Atlas says, boxing is the great equalizer.
yes Foreman a legend, able to become a World champion at 42, while that weak guy, Ali, fucked up at thirty.

True
You do know that was apart of gameplan? He purposely "took a beating" until the later rounds to conserve energy. He didn't respect Moorers power. It was a bait and switch tactic.
You have to remember, Foreman’s comeback was a joke and a freak show attraction until that very moment. Now we look at his comeback as proof that a comeback at that age is possible.
Go watch The Modern Martial artists video on how Big George took back his title. It's an amazing breakdown of the story.
I guarantee you, you won't regret it.

@@Mikep487 "Overrated Ali." Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!
@@matthewmehegan3475 Your boxing ignorance. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!
I could listen to uncle George all day. What a guy!
