An excellent review that ticks all the boxes - precise, concise, interesting and informative. Yet another of Nathan's masterclasses. The guy is the best !!!!
I was about rail on MB for putting 4x4 on the side of this van...however read the spec's on the 2014 model and it has optional gear reduction, which I am assuming is German for Low Range. The reason for the potential rail is to me 4x4 mean low range equipped as compared AWD not so much. I wish this was an industry standard. So was the one you drove equipped with the "gear reduction" option?
A 4X4 van. Interesting concept! Some day I think I would like to get one for the wife. Not that I expect her to do a bunch of offroading but I would feel better knowing she was driving something that could handle it if weather got bad or if she had to leave the pavement for something.
would have like to seen more on the VSC system, and the big differences between it working and not working and how it mitigated the physics of the roll over at the same speeds.
4x4 Van. I find that an interesting concept. It might be good to transport boxes and large groups of people in the winter. If in a snowy area it might even make a good Church bus/van.
Hurry up and get this thing here, Merc!!! I need a new cargo van for my business high up in the mountains and there's nothing out there that can hang. You literally have no competition in the (new) non-aftermarket cargo van market. I know you're working on it, but you're taking too long! Can't wait! :)
I want to learn more about that van. It would make a GREAT overlanding vehicle. Too bad it is too expensive for my personal use though. Cool to know about the front suspension. The VW/Bombardier Iltis used that 30 years ago. I guess it's a German thing for 4X4s more than a Corvette-inspired tech.
The idea of an inverted transverse leaf spring pre-dates the invention of car. and could be found on many early powered vehicle designs. Its just one of those things which is simple and works.
I want ....A ...factory 4x4 van.....lol there arent many out there most of them are aftermarket conversions the unimog is quite expensive and its kinda HUGE ? and i do need the carrying space so a 4x4 short van would be awesome
***** i bought a used 2010 Chevrolet express for 9000 usd...8 lug wheels with all terrain wheel...not the best offroad but its doing fine so far... yeah i made this comment like maybe 3 mounths ago...you see i still to carry alot and its enclosed ...
The flex though! what is that, 5 or 6... MM? (sarcasm) I'm impressed it still moved with a tire off the ground though. Electronic diff? (not the center diff or transfer-case, I'm asking about the front/rear) or is it pulsing the brakes to redirect power to the traction tire?
É espetacular estes vans 4x4. Eu gostaria de adquirir algumas para compor nossa frota para Assistencia técnica e extensão Rural. Alguém me informa onde comprar, que vende ou de onde importar.

50 points for getting deathgrip and attaboy in the one sentence.
I doubt they fully assemble it in the first place if it's being exported anyway. If they do, they're stupid and they'll find out quickly that it's better to just lay the parts aside and put them directly on a ship. You know...like every other manufacturer.
A passenger van w/o rear AC is almost pointless. Needing a roof mounted AC to get AC for the passengers sort of kills it for me. I want to be able to take it on 2-tracks and a branch is just going to wipe that plastic roof box out in no time. 4x4 converted Ford or GM vans look to be much better options with more power available for less money.
I don't know what it is about these vehicle, but I think they are cool. I wanted one for awhile and never have been able to find a decent used one. The ones I find are rusted and shitty with a ton of miles on them. I know the wind will make them its bitch, but damn, the stuff this vehicle could do.
Robert Baratheon Crosswind assist is standard on 2015 models. I sell these in Omaha and we regularly experience 40mph winds between Omaha and Lincoln. The Sprinter acts like a rhino that got hit by a bb gun with regard to the wind...just kinda shrugs it off! My email is jwilliams@omahasprinter.com if you would like to talk more. Thanks!
Why not have one of these with the characteristics of a full size van like a Chev, Ford and Mopar..... Why the clown suit ? OK for commercial, but then that's all it is.... Fugly for a modded Sprinter.

Quite informative and I'm pretty impressed with how well it did off road.
This what I'm waiting for long time
Diju George Please contact me. jwilliams@omahasprinter.com Thank you!
Check out the article on Linkedin about how Sprinter van's have been crapping out at 100k miles with very expensive emissions system repairs needed.

Are you going to take one up Goldmine Hill?
Great for Canadian winters.

thats not alot...for a work van
+Free Man and you swallowed that hook line and sinker
This wood make a great bug-out camper van.

Will it finally be reliable?
Center lock?

Dat Federal Q in the background doe!!
Stuff Junk That was the best part of the video!
Not an "inverse leaf spring", but a "transverse leaf spring". That's because it goes horizontally, not longitudinally.
And its inverted
+Joel Borden my nipples are inverted
Why? The 2 purposes never collide, Amazon drivers do not go off roading
Transverse not inverse leaf spring.
not bad at all
I want one of these to use as the ultimate surfer's van...
buy a chevrolet express because, that way you don't need to fix your van every month or week
jan martin faber nah
jan martin faber Are you seriously saying that a Mercedes Benz is unreliable? Are you kidding me?
Joeri Gillissen i'm not kidding
jan martin faber Then you must not be very well known with the brand.
This could've been more professional without the music.

FedEx will buy these. They have to hit some weird places.
Was Nathan serious when he said it's something he'd be interested in having as a long term vehicle, instead of that boring Raptor?
"Trying to put you in the hole." - my type of woman
That's what she said
Gordon Mccracken "She has watched my videos" FTW
we don't need all the damn music
You want a van over the raptor? Okay.

*Boring Raptor, you did not just say that?*
exactly what i thought too!
its only available in automatic , that's boring if you ask me
lol you funny get rid of the raptor. the only reason it dose so good is because it has lockers. lockers should be stranded in all trucks.
gary66669 yes my Grand Cherokee has auto lockers in 4 low its amazing difference. Its like a Mt goat.

johnny63able 5.
A cargo van over the F150 Raptor? Don't do it!
a test drive of 4x4 with no description of the 4x4 system. duh
Put this Sprinter chassis into a Motorhome!
unless u have 12 kids, I would keep the raptor
NOOOOOOOO Dont get rid of raptor!!!!!!
Why not have one of these with the characteristics of a full size van like a Chev, Ford and Mopar..... Why the clown suit ? OK for commercial, but then that's all it is.... Fugly for a modded Sprinter.
nice zombie bug out vehicle lol
A poor idea. It Will Be modified, lifted, lowered, 4x4 40 inch tires etc, and more. It's Top Heavy.......! That's against everything off road.
Get rid of the Raptors please do not
👍😂😂
Don't see the point of white van men offering candy to kids in the woods
lol
