  • Teen interns at the Milwaukee Art Museum visited the Museum's Docent corps to share their thoughts on how to engage high school students on school tours. In this 35-minute conversation, the teens tackle big questions such as whether girls like art more than boys; how technology should (or shouldn't) be incorporated on tour; and what to do when teens are bored. They offer practical ideas for gallery teaching as well as consider what the goals of museum school tours should be.

Teens respond to when adults are relaxed/'jolly'.
What technology was used? iPad to show pictures, Skype (w/ MTS). Technology is a tool, not a replacement, similar to using books.
What technology sh/could be used in museums? Teen prefer the old fashion -just look at art. Sometimes technology takes away from art (AMEN!)
How to get teen to discuss art work? Ask them questions about what *they* like.
Adults need to use short/simple vocab.
Don't be afraid to be fun!
