      @jeannetteellis2034 Unfortunately I do not. A lot of it was used with whatever dimensions I could get my hands on as far as scrap lumber and materials I was able to use to keep the price down on the build. I believe the third coast craftsman has plans for his which you can try out and just change up to fit your needs. I highly recommend the entire side opening, the split door, the rain barrel water system, and automated door. Good luck on your build and future chickens!

      @TheReaper1  Год назад +2

      Highly recommend staining first if you can! I was in a bit of a crunch for time and the rain was relentless so I had to keep the project going the best I could. I’d also recommend putting the hardware cloth on the inside of the run if you can. It will help in the long run from keeping chickens from kicking sand etc up onto the studs. Functionally I went on the outside so it was harder for predators to push in on it but it doesn’t look as good as it could! Thank you for watching and commenting! Good luck on your build!

    I have a “chicken coop” playlist for when t star to build my own, guess what video just made it into that list 😂
    Also, who would’ve thought that painting the mesh wire black would’ve made the coop look clearer, less cloudy and more se through 🤔. Like how 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @TheReaper1
      @TheReaper1  Год назад +2

      Well it’s an honor to have made your list! • @TheReaper1
      @TheReaper1  Год назад +1

      Why thank you very much! I’m glad you enjoyed the video and my random thoughts through out the build lol. So on to the sand, after doing a bunch of research for the best run material “All purpose Constructed sand” was the winner. I got it at Home Depot and I’ll provide a link to it. It’s a little more coarse than “play sand”. People that did the research said “play sand” was a no no because it’s particles are too fine.
      If I were to do it again I would use more sand and have my coarse rocks even lower. I found out pretty quickly the chickens like to use the all purpose sand as make shift dust baths at times and will dig a hole that’s 8 inches deep, which in turn shoots out the larger rocks I placed for irrigation to shoot all over the place in the process! It doesn’t ruin anything other than when I “Poop Scoop” I often am scooping up those large rocks and just throwing them away as well. (So maybe don’t use any large stones) Hope this helps! Thank you for the compliment on the beard too!

Again thank you

    • @TheReaper1
      @TheReaper1  Год назад

      @@saveforthree you better get a move on it then! 😆
      As far as the coop size I’ll have to run out and measure it tomorrow but I’d say the coop is about 5’ 6” x 5’ 6” and the run itself is around 14-16’ including the area under the coop that is fenced in (hardware cloth) that’s a rough estimate but I feel it is somewhat accurate. I was using old lumber for the most part and stuff I got as scraps from jobsites. I’ll try to get some measurements tomorrow real quick in the morning. Thanks again!

    A very nice build. But I would suggest that you insulated the Coop, not only for keeping the chickens warm in winter, but also to keep it a bit cooler in the summer. Painting the netting black is like making it disappear and make for a better view of the birds. I also noted that the chickens are of the Mediterranean breed, and they are usually not so keen on laying in winter time 😂. I hope you don't get much snow, or freezing weather like we've had here in my part of Norway.

    • @TheReaper1
      @TheReaper1  6 месяцев назад

      Currently have 2 feet of snow on the ground and the weather has gone down to -10 with no issues. Still getting around 5-6 eggs a day. Many farmers in my area have similar breeds for decades and no issues with the cold other than larger combs needing some Vaseline every 2 weeks or so to prevent frostbite. The biggest threat I have are hawks, eagles, foxes, and bears all of which have made visits to the property in the last 6 months 😂! Good luck with your chickens and their insulated coop 😂!

    I found my answer to my question below. "Love Nwantiti" is a song by Nigerian singer and songwriter CKay, released in 2019 as the second track from his second extended play Ckay the First by Chocolate City through Warner Music Group. The song has become a commercial success in Nigeria, the Middle East, North Africa and in many European club venues. It has even been translated into French vocals by French rapper Franglish. My African/Mediteranean guess was the closest with respect to the vocals and my guess about India didn't hold up with the instrumentation. Great Build! Mac

      So the rough measurements from the side id say the coop itself (housing for the hens) is 5’ x 5’ 6”. The run from under the coop to the end with the rain collection is about 5’ 6” x 14’.
      At it’s tallest where the 2 peaks meet I’d say it stands at around 9’ - 9’ 6”.

I did put links in the description to all of the material I used aside from lumber if that helps at all. That’s a great question! It actually has a laser that shoots across the opening similar to a garage door. Anything that steps in front of it causes the door to stop. I’m actually editing the full install of it now and will be posting it hopefully by this weekend if you’d like to see how it works. It has a built in timer and also comes with essentially “garage door” openers you can put on a keychain. Could you leave a listing of the music you used? My wife and I really liked the song that appeared at 22:15 into the video. Been around the world but couldn't place it: Eastern European, Mediterranean, Indian, African? I loved Sade...Please let us know! We watched because we are almost 2 weeks into our brooder and we got to start our build soon and your design was spectacular! Cheers, Mac

      Thank you very much for watching and inquiring about the music. I’m a fan of many genres. That particular song is Love Nwantiti by CKay, he’s a Nigerian singer. He sings in a version of English and a mix of his native tongue I forget the name of the language off hand. It has a great flow and Rhythm to it. I have a list of all the songs in my description though they are not necessarily in chronological order.
      It sounds like you guys have not time to spare so spend this weekend coming up with a game plan and start building! Those chicks will be ready to go before you know it! Thank you again for watching and good luck Mac!

    I love this video so much I've watched it twice already...
    I'm duplicating this and starting soon myself.
    I have one question... did you do any pest control for the gaps in the roof? And if so, what did you do or use?

      Well I’m glad you liked it so much! Took a hell of a long time to edit lol!
      So as far as the roof goes I’m assuming you’re talking about the ribs that have gaps. Technically there are brackets you can buy at Home Depot or Lowe’s that fit perfectly on the studs and you screw through them. This prevents the metal from bending if you sink the screws too deep etc. I haven’t had any pest problems with these. Only thing I could think of would be bees maybe, but I haven’t seen any yet and I’m out there everyday so if I did see a nest starting I’d break out the “shredder” Bug assault gun I have that is co2 powered lmao. Other than that the two eaves that meet between the two roofs have a 2x4 that prevent anything large from getting in, but…… I do have have 2 morning doves that made a nest under it that I didn’t have the heart to boot out just yet. Hope this helps! Good luck on your build! Oh and if you wanted to prevent something like that I know they make these metal spikes (essentially just bent metal rod) that stop birds from perching in areas.
      Thanks for watching again!

      Thanks for the info... I appreciate it a ton... Once I get home I'm going to be drawing it all out to my specs.. Mine will be a tiny bit smaller just to cut on materials..
      Great job on yours man...
