This is great! Do you know what the little orange clips are called (@2.11)? Mine has broken which means the inside door lock metal lever doesnt lock into place - i have tried a few different types of clips but they all seem to be slightly different to what is normally in place
Hoping you see this! My 96 hiace camper door lock barrel slides back when you pop the key into. Pain in the ass. I'm thinking a clip may be gone in the handle mechanism ..
There is a U-shaped clip which does hold the lock barrel in place. Do you think there is a chance the lock has been replaced before? I had a very difficult time finding a lock which fit my handle AND took the same key type as the rest of my locks. If I found one with the same key way I could have rearranged the wafers to suit my key. Long story short, a number of the barrels I tried, did what you are describing despite the clip being in. A slightly different size that still ‘fits’ maybe? I found a lot of dead ends looking for the right lock that fit properly. That said if it is really annoying you may be able to take the handle off and add some kind of spacers between the lock and the clip to prevent it sliding back?
@@The_Gap_Lap thank you! I was thinking the same. I went and order a new handle assy in case it was the clip but I was told it had been broken into while previous owners had it , so this may be the case. I'll see what I can rig up to catch it in place? Even some 2 part metal putty to fill it out perhaps .. it sits in there ok when used until you apply too much pressure then you need to push the arm that attaches to the back of the barrel back into place. Whatever I do can't be any dodgier than it is now 😂 climbing through the passenger side is a royal pain. Thank you for responding and for the videos! Much appreciated! Merry Christmas.
I definitely understand the pain of climbing in the passenger side! You will probably find two small triangular tabs on the barrel which is where the clip sits behind, so some epoxy as you suggested on these tabs should help you out. Might take some trial and error for sizing. No problems! Have a great Christmas too & best of luck with your lock 🙂
Sounds like the individual wafers which the key would typically move into the barrel when inserted have worn, and the wafers are not completely retracting. The lock probably needs replacing, but you may be able to use some graphite powder to see if it helps before you go to the effort of replacing the lock. Don’t use a liquid spray like wd40, it will mix with dust and make things worse.
i followed you video and it worked great, thankyou for posting it.

Thanks for the comment 😊 few different names for them, you might find them under rod clip or linkage clip or lock rod clips.
Also have a look at the Nice Products catalogue online, try the names suggested + cam clips too.
Life saver! Thank you
