This one hits close to home. I have a 1988 regular cab 4x4 that I have owned for the last 20 years and still drive regularly. If I ever get the scratch to have it restored, I know who to call.
@@gregsrestorations7019 I wish I could include photos, I am doing the little stuff now. V6 Master Cylinder, Bilstein Shocks, a new muffler is next this weekend. I didn't spring for the LCE Cat Back, but just a Wagner direct (not so direct as I know now) replacement for now. Only $60, the old one has a 1/2" x 3" rusted out hole in it now. Hope to get that buttoned up and continue driving her once or twice a week to work which is 15 miles each way. Just keeping the battery charged.
I had a 91' in high school and restored it. Standard cab, 4x4, 5 speed. FUCK. I am so mad at myself for getting rid of it. Arizona truck that made its way into NW Indiana, so it was CLEAN.
Have had my 86 single cab for 22 years. Once was stolen, when I got it back I promised her I'd keep her for life!!! Don't make em like they used too. Keep up good work!
I have an 87 Black Thunder edition. 4x4, reg cab, carb, 130,000 miles. It came with a grill guard, roll bar, kc lights. I took the roll bar out when we restored it in 04. My wife will most likely be buried in it, lol. She has been driving it for over 34 years since it had 5 miles on it.
I had 1988 toyor 22r engine verry high quality but the only problem i had was with the carburator and it would waste alot of gas because of it also not alot of power when driving on the freeway compared to american cars that have more power and better suspension
Wow.. clicked on this video because I have the same year pickup with the single cab as well. Of course this one is a lot cleaner then mine, but it is still cool to see an identical truck to mine. Love the work you guys do✌️
Greg's Restorations needs to SERIOUSLY RELOCATE to the west-coast or California. They get most of the vehicles coming from that direction anyway. Being on the west-coast would up their business and profits substantially.
Man that was the coolest truck I had ever seen when watching back to the future. I still want one. Maybe its time I finally get one. I'll hit you up for the bumper when I do!
There are few guys in New England that have their eye on the ball with 80's Toyotas. I drive an 88 runner with 300 grand on a V6 in Vermont. Not a speck of rust. Keep up the good fight.
I had the 1988 model of this truck in the wine-red color, before it was stolen from me. Bought it brand new in 1988 from Downey Toyota in Downey, CA . Mine was unique in that I had one of the few remaining 22R carburetor versions with a simple & easily replaceable mechanical fuel pump mounted next to the motor. Bought it brand new, as a 1/2ton 4-cyl rwd short-bed standard-cab base model, without a radio or rear bumper, in 1988 for $5,995 . { See " Downey Toyota Commercial Ad 1989 " here on RUclips. By-the-way; they are still around at their original location & buildings. } [ Back then, all the cut-outs for the accessories like the radio, antenna, etc were there for you to install your own. Also auto-parts stores carried much more items then; tailored for specific vehicles newly out on the market. Much more people, back then, were do-it-yourselfers ( DIYs ) and loved it. Plus it was a learning experience for all; not to mention the money saved. ]

86 turbo extended cab here . What s following these trucks have amazing. I do need a good repaint. Would you mind explaining you best guess costs , same CA truck great chassis just needs a quality job all round the body. Thanks
Even though it’s cool they cared to do it, you don’t need to oil the frame or do any rust proofing in CA. We don’t have road salt so no rust. Tons of these trucks still out here. Nice video
I had a one of this white Toyota trucks back in the day but it had bees nest in it when I bought it so I lit on fire before I ran into the river . Luckily I took the license plate off before I did . 🙃😛😝😜🤪
Any chance you could tell me what you used to paint the mud flaps with? My 87 X-Cab is almost perfect but the white on the mud flaps have seen better days.

I wish Toyota would bring back the "T O Y O T A" tailgate stickers.
The new Tundra kinda has that. It is just indented into the tailgate.

Not in Southern California!
Parts are available everywhere for these.
What are you talking about? The parts market for these is insane. You can get any of the parts you need fairly cheap.

Nice work once again. What is oiling the truck mean?
Fluid filming, rust & corrosion protection in all weather climates. More popular in states that use salt on roads during the winter
This Truck looks great, apart from the grille.
