- Conflict and disaster are driving record numbers of people from their homes to seek refuge from war and destruction. Figures from the Internal Displacement Monitoring Center suggest that more than 75 million people will be forced to flee within their own country in 2023. The report found that the number of internally displaced people has roughly doubled in the past decade.
The worst affected country is Sudan - where civil war has displaced more than 9 million people. That was an increase of nearly 6 million from the end of 2022. Sudan's conflict erupted in April 2023, when rising tensions between military leaders and rival Rapid Support Forces erupted into open fighting across the country.

But the UN wont talk about these problems, the UN only want to talk about Israel huh
Gaza casualties more than double the casualties of the ongoing civil war in Sudan, in half the time. Never the less, it's a terrible situation.
@@bingbingbong2886Gaza war was provoked by…… drumroll!!!!!! The gazans! Honestly they should pay Israelis reparations for the cost of the war. Like they broke it and they have to buy it.
What... ?
It simply is the inequality between nations and people derived from capitalistic economic systems and national sovereignty, identity, and culture, religions we choose...
nothing to do with peace leader.
that says poor things about the delegation from African countries
It's the UN General Assembly's and Security Council's (the General Assembly and Security Council being what people like you mean by UN) job to primarily address international issues like the conflict in Gaza. The UN has a range of specialised organisations that take focus on situations like in Sudan that are simply rarely reported on. Do you complain that the police doesn't put out fires, too?
I'm glad Sudan is getting the attention it needs
I wish. Sudan crisis is being ignored by its neighbors
It’s not.
This is the only intentional media with a name covering it American media, even on the most boring channels that not many watch only cover ilike once a month on a good month.
great use of sarcasm
Keep your eyes on Sudan
No rally for them.
Keep reporting about Sudan to take this conflict out of the dark.
Thank you dw for mentioning this. No news program reports updates for Sudan
African problems, African solutions....
African media covering. you should watch more of that for coverage
Definitely less coverage, even in comparison to Myanmar coverage in western media, just another example of hypocrisy.
@@icu17siberia where?! mention the name of the site/channel
Thank you DW reporting on this forgotten conflict in Sudan.
Where are the Gays for Sudan? The ivy league students? UN? Anyone?
LOUDER
Sudan 🇸🇩 is the real disaster with millions of people displaced and has been starving for 2 years.
Sudanese must have been in tears watching Palestinians throwing and complaining about aids provided to them.
I wonder if they're even aware. Why isn't the government asking for aid? UN is a way to avoid getting help with a direct ask from specific countries.
Shame to UN
Why do we not hear more about this?
Why does DW report more on Gaza than a real disaster like in Sudan, Nigeria, Yemen, Syria and the etc?
Compared to other media they report the most on it. World completely abandoned this conflict judging by the UN and most media. (Not even talking about world leaders)
NIGERIANS, YEMEN, SUDAN, SAMOLI, all that is in or near African continent should be cared for by African continent. Including Middle Eastern countries. Please stop including the rest of the world in your wars. The West has their own problems.
Where is the UN, where is South Africa????
South Africa recently invited the man responsible for these atrocities (Mohammed Hemetti of the RSF) for a lavish state visit with president Ramaphosa, during which they endorsed him for president of Sudan (though quickly backtracking on that one). A few days later they accused Israel of genocide at the ICJ.
Wow!!!!!! That’s super not normal from the outside point of view. Why would they give a platform for RSf guy .. sure doesn’t seem like they’re the better option to stand with in this conflict .. at all. Thanks for adding context.
This is terrible. Bodies lying on the streets 😢
We thought Gaza has the highest number of displaced people, UN media talks only on Gaza but forget the real displaced in Sudan
for some reason Gaza and Israel any issue is exciting to media , I dont know why, do u know 400,000 Yemen people died because of proxy war between Iran and Suadi and famine, Saudi alone killed 15,000 by bombing villages , Sudan war is also helped by Saudi and UAE , UAE supported Sudan Para Military Arabs killed 15,000 local Africans in an apparent genocide, but for some reason no one cares and when Israel or USA is involved , it is breaking news , ha ha , that is how the world works , get used to it
Unfortunately for Sudan, all the UN relief funds ends up in "Free Palestine" coffers. Too good of a grift.
Misspelled Hamas. Who I note aren't worth arussians life.
That is a serious accusation you are making. Can you back it up, or are you just making snark comments on a serious reporting?
@@GrigoriZhukov I did indeed misspell Hamas, comrade Zhukov. English is only my second language.
@@MrMAXZ888It's a civil war and the IDPs can return, that is not the same for Palestinians...
@@D-E-S_8559 No this isn't why it's not the same. It's not the same because Palestinians are extremely good at marketing. And unlike Sudanese, aren't really interested in ending this conflict. Ending the conflict would end all the sweet sweet cash flows, they are showered with for 76 years. Finkelstein, of all people, admitted as much.
No kaffiyeh so not cool.
Yep. Not trendy enough.
Another war causing unnecessary deaths😢
No protests against this one though.

Thank you. You guys are like the only ones covering this war since the start.
The world should focus on Sudan 🇸🇩not palastain, Hamas released the hostages, and Sudan needs help 😢
I agree, while it's sad in both populations but Sudan portion that are targeted have no hostages and are only asking for survival
So sad that this conflict is not sharing the media focus.
African media coverage?
Where's Allan Hu? @bar!
Leading the war, like Muhammad did
We have seen it before, and we have heard the descriptive comments before.
The day before yesterday, it was in South Sudan. The same human suffering, the same bloody madness. Yesterday, it was in the Tigray's region of Ethiopia, the same atrocities, the same human suffering. Today, it is the turn of Sudan, the Amarah region of Ethiopia, the East DRC, etc.
Would these millions who must be born to have such earthly destiny asked to be born if we choose before birth?
These tragedies occur in Africa and Africa in her international cooperation with the European Union, alongside nations of the Caribbean and the Pacific, have as their chief negotiator a 60-year-old bloody and dynastic tyranny in West Africa, Togo. Is this a blessing? Is this wisdom, a sense of restraint, as lessons to other human beings?
There are all these sufferings in Africa, and yet a decades old tyranny of that Africa becomes the President of the UN Security Council. The world isn't then too complicated with contradictions?
We have seen it before and we have heard about it before. Maybe if we see and hear with our hearts, we can start the process that leads to a different outcome.
Un is no longer fit for its purpose. It’s starting to do more damage than good and more damage than not helping at all.
UN only embodies dictators and terrorist groups from what we’re seeing. Don’t know if bc incompetent or bc complicit.
@mashkanyc UNFORTUNATELY, UN is failing all over the world, so are other organizations. It's havoc everywhere. It appears that AFRICANS and their people must stand United on what is happening on African continent, and near. GOD HELPS THOSE ARE WILLING TO HELP THEMSELVES!
Where is al Jazeera I guess mute
I believe there is a journalist with Al Jazeera who has been on the ground there for about a year now
Nobody wants to call this the big T word, and no oppressor to blame.

Horrendus! Let’s put some more pressure on Israel.
More displaced people and more disrupted agriculture all growing worse because of higher temperatures
Sudan 🇸🇩 issues not important because of color but Palestinians/Hamas is the central of attractions ...No Israel no news.
dont forget UAE and Saudi are helping both sides in Sudan , also in Yemen 400,000 people died because of Saudi and Iran proxy war. for some reason whatever israel does it is big news .9 million displaced in sudan and 400,000 died in Yemen because of UAE , Saudi and Iran. it is ok :) the world is a funny place
Why it took so long to touch on this issue? Anyway, better late than never. It's really heartbreaking what we're seeing in the world😭😭☹. May God bestow his mercy on us and make us bestow mercy on each other. And what does ethnic cleansing against people who are more African mean anyway?🤬 What's wrong with people these days? Why is it so difficult to coexist?!
We can only have mercy with each other, waiting for a miracle got us here in the first place. If i was god, i would let us burn, we deserve it. Greedy little suckers we are. Be christ, dont wait for him in a romantic way. Love is a miracle enogh nowadays.
Oh Oh so now you decide to post something about Sudan where a real humanitarian crisis is happening. Yet it was Palestinians for 7 months.
No, they’ve been covering this war unlike most media outlets from the start.
Yeah but how can we blame Israel?
Im sure we could find something ....
I’m sure bbc France 24 and Al Jazeera will figure it out 😎🫡
ha ha right , Iran vs Saudi war caused 400,000 death of Yemeni by bomb and famine.UAE and Saudi support in sudan and 9 million are displaced and 15,000 locals were killed in apparent genocide last month by UAE supported forces , but media doesnt care and it focuses on Israel which is fighting for its own survival surrounded by hostile states which tried to destroy it many times in the past.
And guess who is selling them weapons UAE , where is Aljazera to report that ? Hypocrisy everywhere
Def some Russian weapons flowing into there but not sure how much of the details.
Al Jazeera has a journalist there.
Plz don’t let them into Europe plz plz
But European weapons are in Sudan
Don't forget UAE weapons. UAE is extremely complicit in this one and should be getting sanctioned.
Not Palestinian enough. 😂
Sudan and China are major trade partners. Where are your partners when you need them?

Glad to hear that it’s such a large land mass. It’s hard to tell just by looking at the map. In a desperate situation like this at least it’s some hope for survival for some.
African continent is large, they should have no problem taking those people in. Recent Arican podcast commented that more Africans on their continent the better. SUDAN people should seek ASYLUM in African countries. Africa will open their hearts and homes to their people.
This is the "multipolar world" some countries want us to live in, one in which dictators have options, and people do not.
Germany is waiting for them.
Shameful! Where humanity is going?
Sorry......
Sudan conflict between Arab and non Arab, Middle East conflict between Arab and Israel 😢
Africa needs to rally around those who try to help next time. and there will always be a next time
South Africa ignored this to take Israel to ICC 😢
The North should ask of the South's battle harded to come to it's aid
