Thank you for acknowledging the fact that you have a smaller body. I’ve watched some of your videos and followed you on insta for a while now and I always questioned that: it’s “easier” for you to exist in a world of intuitive eating because you are at a “healthy” weight (assumedly) according to BMI, etc. I appreciate you mentioning that and giving permission for those of us in larger bodies to leave. With that, I will definitely continue to watch this, but if you have any recommendations of larger-bodied RDs who use intuitive eating practices, I would love to have their information. Thank you for your transparency!

Yes! I second this. My husband is super obese and I am overweight and approaching 200 lbs and I’m not tall. It’s sometimes difficult to hear that I should make peace with gaining weight when we both feel so unhealthy and difficulty moving our bodies and fitting into clothes

it is much easier to undo that body dismorphia when you are still the ideal image of beauty or even just an “acceptable” weight. us girls in recovery who are now plus sized have a unique struggle that needs more attention. but i appreciate her being honest and open like you said

how do you develop trust with your body that it won't keep gaining? In the beginning it feels like everything you put in your mouth makes you gain weight, because it literally does. And then that re-affirms the belief that I cant eat with out gaining weight and I get stuck in this viscous cycle.

I have been struggling with my body dysmorphia and an eating disorder for 5 months. It has been very difficult for me lately because I am starting to develop some health problems and I am also very hungry. Today I had a binge episode and I felt really bad about myself and for the last couple of hours I have been watching your videos and now I am ready to have a different mindset with my own body and food, but I am also very afraid of gaining the weight I’ve been starving myself to loose. Anyway, thank you so much for your content, these are the kind of videos I've been needing for so long.

I got to a dangerously low body weight and I haven’t gotten my period in well over a year. People would hug me and literally pull away and hold my body to look at it because of “how much bone they grabbed”. I was told to gain weight by too many people and I thought I could let up on restriction a little and I broke the dam. I have gained almost 30 lbs in four months and I hate my body. I am wildly uncomfortable. I’m only a few lbs into a healthy weight for my height but I feel sick to my stomach every time I seE my stomach, thighs, arms, whatever because theres lots of flab from sudden weight gain. I’ve also been experiencing a ton of life and career changes with regularly moving every few months whether a few streets or several hundred miles. All good moves and career changes. I am in a dream city in a dream job for the summer and I have barely enjoyed it because I’ve been binging to the point of barely being able to move every other day. My relationship with food has been and continues to ruin my life. I’m hoping and genuinely trying to find peace with food to settle at a comfortable weight and stop overeating because I feel like there is no end in sight and I’ll keep piling on weight forever. This video and all of your content has been a great comfort and feels like a gentle guide to try and heal. thank you 💕

Seeing yourself gain weight, whether to a healthy or unhealthy extent, is so difficult. I gained quite a bit of weight after having my son, and it is hard to adjust to how different my body looks, so I understand to a small extent how you must feel. Remember that your body has needed this! Your body looks different, but different isn’t always bad. You’re worth more than just the way you look. Sending you hugs and comfort ❤

Thank you for talking about what intuitive eating actually is instead of what a lot of people think it is, i.e. eating uncontrollably whenever a craving is felt despite not being hungry. As someone who used to be anorexic as a teen and still struggles with cycles of binge/restrict, I want to learn my body's natural cues and stop the disordered cycles and obsessive thoughts. I tried to go to a dietitian due to the disordered eating and some possible food intolerances (dairy) but my insurance won't cover it :-(.

I used the scale very early on when I was ditching my food rules (something I now know NOT to do , don't do, and teach others!!!) It slowed my ability to truly allow myself to eat! So much more freedom without the scale!

You lost me at affirming the new age religious belief in the "Law of Attraction." I actually do NOT have the power of God to control the universe with my thoughts. Nor "manifest" objects, money, or fame. Or control my cells. We can make choices, we can believe truths, lies. or parts of both, we can choose to focus on what is good, true, and beautiful (or not), but we are not gods. Needed to say that. I still appreciate your advice about eating, but not so much about manipulating molecules. I got nervous when you characterized positive thinking as mantras and affirmations. Slippery slope.

I'm definitely afraid of weight gain. I recently lost a nice chunk of weight (about 25% of my starting weight) over a two-year period through dieting (calorie and point counting) and am currently in a reverse diet to maintain my weight with the tentative plan to "cut" again in the future (though, not until 2022 at the earliest).
It's not JUST about the number on the scale. At my heaviest, I worked as a cashier. After a day of work, I was in so much pain that I needed to take painkillers just to sleep at night. Since losing the weight, I've worked 10-hour shifts on my feet the entire time with ZERO pain. While I can accept that weight is not necessarily the sole indicator of health, I absolutely believe that my weight loss played a role in this small change.
I think I can learn to accept myself at this weight (though, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have body composition goals; I've noticed some changes since I started weight lifting and absolutely want to keep going with those). But the idea of regaining the weight I lost is absolutely terrifying.

It is easy to handle weight gain when your end weight is still very very slim. Some people develop eating disorders and try to suppress their weight without even making it to the set point you are at now. Maybe you could address your privilege living in a smaller body as well? This video was very informative but I just thought I should bring that up x

How much weight have you lost since you've gained those 30lbs? I think that would be helpful info and this was helpful because it's relatable and a reminder that when you allow yourself to eat what you truly want, you aren't going to just keep on gaining weight forever. Knowing that helps people in ED recovery keep going.
