- "The Present" tells the story of a boy who rather spends his time indoors playing videogames instead of discovering what’s waiting outside. One day his Mum decides to get a little surprise for her son, which makes it hard for him to concentrate on his video game any longer.

When we launched this channel a few months ago, together with many of the best short film distributors in the world, we knew it would be a great project. Nevertheless we are very happy about our first 10000 subscribers! Therefore, in celebration of this reached milestone, today we are releasing a very special short film: "The Present" by Jacob Frey has become one of the most watched short films on the Internet. A while ago my mother sent me this incredible video, unfortunately 5 months ago they had to amputate half of my leg due to an infection. But being able to see and remember these types of videos, the truth is that they motivate one a lot. Never give up

Yeah, I'm 30 seconds in and all I can think is if that were my boy and I saw that we'd be packing up the gamebox and all of the games and taking them down to a foster home or homeless shelter for HIM to donate and it would be the last bit of electronics he ever had. He'd be spending his now free time volunteering at the animal shelter until he was old enough to move out. Im seriously getting pissed off watching a cartoon. Lol

I nearly cried when the boy got up from the couch and they both wait for each other going outside
I didn't expect the twist why he chooses to stay inside but thanks to the dog it is a new and great opportunity for another door to open
I loved this movie and so did my brother. The plot twist at the end was SO unexpected
I almost skipped it but meanwhile I see the smile on that boy so I continued it,,, then I find out that they are same they both have no pair of toes,,, I like how the boy accept him... it made me think that dog are really lovable and loyal... 💜💛

I remember when i was younger and i was watching a compilation of the saddest videos and this came up and after i saw that he throw the dog away i started to cry and i always felt sad when i thought of it and i just saw the ending and it made mo so happy to se the happy ending

I love this when the boy and dog go outside to play which was so sweet 🥹.
The only reason why the boy didn’t love the doggy that his mom got for him is when he saw that the dog had no leg he too didn’t have a leg also 1:03 1:06 .
I think he felt embarrassed 😳 that his mom got him a dog with no leg the same that he lost a leg.
Like if he took the dog for a walk people will start laughing at them both that they have no legs.
But then he realize it doesn’t matter what they say all he cares is having fun with the dog.
Both of them are handicapped it's a perfect match.. we gave a kitten that was blind in one eye.. to a little girl that was handicapped missing half of her left arm.. she just turned 10.. the kitten follows her around like a dog.. the little girl would be about 13 right now.. not too sure about the cat

No, the moral is rather that animals can teach us to accept and adapt to our current Situation if we‘re not able to do that on our own.
The boy didn‘t really hate the dog itself, he just projected his negative feelings for his own condition onto the little gal.

When did you realize that the boy was missing his left leg? Was it when he stood up at the end? Or was it when he kicked the ball into the box for the pup? If you look closely around 1:46-1:47, you can see a brief shot of his leg, and you can see it’s missing before he even gets up on his crutches 😊
