lighten up--this is a comedy comedy. This isn't like Family Ties or Full House where death is a very sensitive subject. In the Mary Tyler Moore show they were the first to make fun of a character's death and were damn good at it. Same for Married With Children when Kelly's beloved dog Buck died--she was heartbroken too but the writers were superb in making a very sad and heartbreaking situation have some light touches of comedy just like this episode.
Comedy was made as a way to blend the tragic with humor, a way to relieve the harsh realities of the world. In ancient greece they would hold entire days devoted to theatre, and comedies were put in at the end to relax the audience and lift spirits after watching hours of greek tragedies
Fresh Prince doesn't get enough credit as just a very well written and acted series nearly enough but it's on par with shows like All in the Family, Soap, Good Times, A Different World, The Golden Girls and Barney Miller as far as blending comedy with tragedy so seamlessly and it's as gust busting funny as Sanford and Son, Married with Children, Martin, Frasier, Malcolm in The Middle, The Jeffersons etc. Still a great show!
Hilary: "Please stand by? Ugh, great the President is about to interrupt my marriage proposal." LMAO. Oh Hilary so naive yet had some of the best lines in the series.
I love in this episode where they return from the funeral, and Hilary weeps to the urn, "I love you Trevor!" Will says, "He wasn't cremated!" "EW! Who's this?" And Geoffrey takes it, "I'll see him to the door, ma'am!"
Reminds me of the time when Carl Winslow accidentally dumped the cremated ashes of his wife's aunt into the fireplace because he thought the jar she was kept in was for candy. My favorite part was when Carl immediately put the ashes back in the jar when Harriet wasn't looking, and while running out the door to meet up with her, opened the jar to apologize to the ashes.
Trevor was perfect for Hilary, as much as Hilary was spoiled and not the brightest bulb, I can’t help but feel that Trevor’s love and adoration for her was genuine and sweet.
Even Better Note to Self: Measure the height of the jumping point, then measure the the bungee cord and make sure it is short and not longer than the jumping point before you go bungee jumping
I love when they come back from his funeral and Will says, "He didn't look too bad for someone who jumped from three hundred feet and slammed into concrete!" And Carlton snaps, "Fool! Like that was his real head!"
Several years later, we find Will Smith doing the exact same thing to celebrate his 50th birthday. And unlike Trevor, he made it out of there alive. Happy Birthday, Will!
Replaying this clip I noticed @ 1:16 Hilary tried to deliver her line "Please stand by" but the audience wasn't done laughing so she waits then says it.. 😆
Trevor had to die. The man who played him, Brian Stokes Mitchell, was on his way to begin what has turned out to be a phenomenal career on Broadway. Still funny as anything though!
He will to me be best known as Jackpot on Trapper John, M.D. as well as his Game Show Appearances on BULLSEYE w/Jim Lange, GO w/Kevin O'Connell and Pyramid ($25k/$100k) w/the late Dick Clark
+ohsnapiam59 He could've just been written off by breaking up with Hillary and leaving town, not being killed. Even though this direction _was_ the funnier one.
Later in the episode Ashley is playing with a yo yo and she has an expression of horror on her face when the yo yo hits the ground lol. I love Geoffry's expression, he is like "oh well". God, this scene was funny.
I always crack up when all their expressions drop when the “Slam!” Sound effect happens, and I love how Hilary looks so oblivious to what’s actually happened to Trevor! Hahahahaha! XD
Love how Carlton has to move when Hilary stands up since she blocks his view, and then after Trevor crashes into the ground, Vivian is trying to hide Ashley's face from the TV like a protective mommy.
Another one of Fresh Prince's most iconic and classic moments EVERYONE remembers. Right up there with "Jump on it!" Alfonso running around the whole set thinking Lisa killed Will, Carlton stripping, Tom Jones showing up as Carlton's guardian angel and their duet, Will taking the gun away from Carlton and the huge Dad leaving Will again "Why don't he want me, man" scene. We don't get sitcoms with such memorable and iconic moments and episodes anymore.
I think this was my biggest laugh of the entire show. And then she comes back in the (now) black wedding dress!! It shouldn't have been so funny but dammit it was.
We used to get together as an entire family and watch The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air every single time it came on, I believe the channel was TBS. This scene had everyone rolling on the floor in tears. It was so unexpected and Hillary’s reaction killed me.
The most unforgettable scene in Fresh Prince of Bel Air. I never forget that moment being a kid and watching that for the first time Live on NBC......I literally died laughing, but didn't know he was going to die......but I could recall the shock value the family had.
Will's face though the whole scene was funny!!! "I ain't no bungee expert or nothing but i don't think he suppose to be slamming into the ground like that." Lol!!
HILARY BANKS?! YES TREVOR?! WILL YOU MARRY ME.......... THUD!!!! I ain't no bungee expert or nothing. But I don't think he's supposed to be slamming into the ground like that.
Aunt viv tryna hide Ashley from seeing it always gets me lmfao Thats how I knew something bad happened (bad AND hilarious as I got older) This show is a Timeless classic 😁
This hilarious love they heads followed him when he jumped and when he hit the concrete all there heads did a bounce and there faces afterward were priceless to funny i miss this show
***** You can't write without crappy caps lock on? :D Crappy Finland? haha, Will Smith would agree everything is better in Finland, Schools, Health care, less racism than Usa. Just read some facts before judging. Don't be an arrogant self loving american.

Cuts to the family all dressed in black
To this day, it's still awkward.

Comedy and Tragedy blended together perfectly in one scene.
I'm laughing but this isn't happy oh my goodness it takes talent

I remember when I first saw this I laughed so hard
Hilary: "Please stand by? Ugh, great the President is about to interrupt my marriage proposal." LMAO.
Oh Hilary so naive yet had some of the best lines in the series.
Techie D That's a very polite way to say that she's dumb as a post.
Lol!🤣
She was still smiling after he slammed into the ground.
@@masontyler3237 no, she is dumb as a broom
When you are cute, rich and a girl, you don't need to be intelligent 🤣

I remember that. That was so hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
Spoiler alert: Trevor is not okay.
+RMosher11 He joined Judge Robertson in heaven.
+RMosher11 Thank you, I was wondering
+Garrett Brogan An asshole of a character played by the late, great Sherman Hemsley.

Trevor was perfect for Hilary, as much as Hilary was spoiled and not the brightest bulb, I can’t help but feel that Trevor’s love and adoration for her was genuine and sweet.
i love how no one took trevor’s death seriously like wtf 😂
Lol who cares about Trevor?
I didn't care that he died.
The character was intentionally shallow and materialistic. I don't think we were ever supposed to like him.
@@TheDanteEX I didn't care about him, but I thought it was unfair, heartbreaking, and inconvenient for Hilary.
Only hil cared about him
" 'Will you marry meee? *splat* lookin boy!"
lol lookin boy is the censored version, it really was "lookin ass nigga"
I know that. "splat lookin boy" sounds better to me
+MONET8iAM I especially love how they moved their heads watching him fall
😂😂😂😂

Note to self: Do not do a bungee jump marriage proposal. LOL
I'll be good with kneeling down on one knee.
And don't have a wedding while bungie jumping either
That’s reserved for 50th birthdays
Better note to self, do not bunjee jump
Even Better Note to Self: Measure the height of the jumping point, then measure the the bungee cord and make sure it is short and not longer than the jumping point before you go bungee jumping
The look on everybody face when he hit the ground... Priceless 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's like nobody knew what to think 😂
Who else came after Will bungee jumped 😂
Meeee
me lol
Lol

Guilty! Sksksksksksks
"I got down on one knee."

😂😂😂
I have never seen a horrific tragedy portrayed in the most hilarious way. 🤣
Watch The Mary Tyler Moore Show episode Chuckles Bites The Dust.
Uncle Phil: I got down on one knee
Geofrey: sustain lol ha ha
Lol!🤣
Geoffrey being savage as always 😂😂
NaptownFinest 97 Well Trevor would’ve been better off just doing that. Lol
lol😂
*O O F*
Still remember seeing this for the first time as a kid. The whole house couldnt stop laughing!🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
When Hilary asked what is a bungee jump, I was like, "It's Trevor's cause of death"
Actually, Trevor's cause of death was due to him following Hillary's wishes of proposing in a special way.
@@sha11235 ya but trevor was fecking stupid

He did it at the grand canyon

😂🤣
Replaying this clip I noticed @ 1:16 Hilary tried to deliver her line "Please stand by" but the audience wasn't done laughing so she waits then says it.. 😆
Oh yeah and there was a little jump cut I think.
Trevor had to die. The man who played him, Brian Stokes Mitchell, was on his way to begin what has turned out to be a phenomenal career on Broadway. Still funny as anything though!

Trevor was written as a one dimensional oaf. It was obviously easy to kill him off in a dark, but twisted and funny way.
+ohsnapiam59 He could've just been written off by breaking up with Hillary and leaving town, not being killed. Even though this direction _was_ the funnier one.
Its Black Humor. The Writer's wanted to kill him off that way.
It's still pretty funny.
Hey my favorite conversation! "They should have reduced the comedy so that the episode better fit with my sensibilities"
Later in the episode Ashley is playing with a yo yo and she has an expression of horror on her face when the yo yo hits the ground lol.
I love Geoffry's expression, he is like "oh well". God, this scene was funny.
She went to Ashley doing that, "Must you do that?" and then the sound of her voice shocked Ashley into dropping it on the floor.
That was dumb of Ashley. Vivian and Will were like "Really?" when it dropped to the floor.
It was so random of Ashley to play with that yo-yo.
I always crack up when all their expressions drop when the “Slam!” Sound effect happens, and I love how Hilary looks so oblivious to what’s actually happened to Trevor! Hahahahaha! XD
"Let's just pray that Trevor's okay."
LOL.
I had the exact same reaction as Will
He's dead
"Hilary, Trevor wasn't cremenated."
Love how Carlton has to move when Hilary stands up since she blocks his view, and then after Trevor crashes into the ground, Vivian is trying to hide Ashley's face from the TV like a protective mommy.
Ashley and Carlton had the best face expressions hahaha
I never paid attention to Carlton his expression was funny, I like Geoffrey and Ashley too.
+Alyssa Nunez Hilary literally could not stop smiling at Trevor's mangled corpse.
What about Vivian's face I was dying laughing at her face expression
Wills while expression was hilarious
The butler was trying not to laugh

They cut the funniest line "Hilary, Trevor wasn't cremated."
Tornado1994 "Eww then who's this???"

You gotta rewatch it at least 7 times to laugh at every single one of their expressions as he slams into the ground🤣

This scene apparently had one of the longest laughs in the show.
What's even more funnier are Will's facial expressions
So horrible, yet so goddamn funny!

Will's face though the whole scene was funny!!!
