I haven't heard a lot of Dylan's gospel music because I believed critics who said it was over-emotional, too religious, beneath him. Now I can't get enough of it! I have never heard him sound more passionate, and I LOVE the backing vocals and organ. I do wonder what sort of snobbery hinders those critics, or if they even gave it a chance.
A bunch of atheist's probably said that LOL Bob Dylan may be one of the best song writers of all time but to Jesus Christ and Lord God Almighty is nothing but a tiny flea.
@@elvispresleydaily3952 No, he is not just a flea to Jesus. He is so precious to Him that He gave His life for Bob, you, me and every human soul He created.
A solid tip concerning critics: In many areas, you can go far in your search for true quality by doing the exact opposite of what those critics tell you. If they say go left, …. To the right, you go….!
here too, after all these years. "Slow Train Coming" was the LP I borrowed to finally get to know this famous Dylan. I remember exactly how confused I was. Beautiful music (and voice), but borderline lyrics (how ironic!). The more I listened, the less it disturbed me. It helped me to read about Dylan's "biblical imagery" as a sort of technique, in general. In parallel i also discovered the biblical stories themselves, somehow via Homer's Odyssee and Iliad. I even read i think Origines' "contra Celsum". tldr: Moses is just as ancient as Achilles and more wise than Hercules. Today, much younger of course, I call myself a philosopher (which is NOT a prophet), still atheist most of the time, but you can call me a Jew, Christian, Muslim or Buddhist any time! I wonder what the musicophobe Taliban have agaist this kind of HEALING music.
Bob's "Jesus" years. The critics panned it. Shows you what critics know. Not much. This is fantastic music. Moving.Passionate. Some of Bob Dylan 's best work. How could Bob Dylan not write such a spiritual song, when he went on record to say he felt the physical presence of Christ near him. No wonder he was prolific during his religious awakening.
One of the greatest gospel songs of all time. Even if you you don't get Dylan's Christian era, it's a truly inspirational song, 'Nothing now can hold you down, nothing that you lack". Dylan is the king of assimilation like Picasso both true artists who never look back.

I find this song, this performance, so so moving. I don't think it matters if you believe (necessarily), it's about pushing on with everything you think is truly right. Because, if you're asking yourself the right kind of questions and holding yourself up to a decent level of scrutiny, 'truly right' is going to be the sort of search/commitment/dedication that Bob's singing about, even if the (non-believing) individual doesn't yet realise it.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Certeza que Deus inspirou Bob Dylan a compor essa coisa linda, o Eterno ficou feliz! 😍
This is beautiful
This was a a seriously profound song. As a female Senior Citizen("Ugliest girl in the world"), I thought the sentiments were so encouraging to enjoy today. The spectacular music and arranged choral touches were very great to listen to. God Bless You and Yours. Thank you very much. The cover artwork. It was real nice too.
Hello Dear, it’s nice meeting you on here!
I can see the beauty of the Lord on you. You are not only beautiful you are wonderfully and fearfully made in God's image..Sin distorted us all in Adam but the Lord who loves us came, cleaned us up and beautifies us. Of Christ are we in him made righteous, glorious,. Beautiful and wise..1 Corinthians 1.30
Im not religious but this is one of my favorite albums by mr Dylan so many buetifull songs sore him live in wellinton nz so loud loved it man best ever
...Sacred Song!!!...
Have you even really listened to bob? It’s been this way from the start
Me too, Bob. Me too. 🕊
Don't have to believe you can only have faith and when you're alone the dead are with you! Go for ancient knowledge and Socrates is right be agnostic and dubious of your own existence! Rest assured as Dylan says " Jah is calling all of us to a higher level"
OH JESUS HELP MY DAUGHTER / 🙏🏼🙏🏼💖🇭🇲
Darling I love you so much my sweet baby, Bob Dylan 💍💗💞💞💞💞♾️🎶🙏🌹
Amen Sisters... and Brothers too of course! PS : Learn to take the pain!
Awesome!
At the beginning of the Bob's song, I ❤️very much to the end of the song!👏
It's 4:17 in the morning on December 15th, 2021, and I can hear Trumpets blowing in The Spirit Right Now. I'm not the trumpet - the 7th trumpet, but it is a trumpet. Not kidding.
I would love to see a video recording of this when the song was recorded. If I were directing such a video recording I would have the camera focused on the backup singers, most especially Clydie King.
agreed man those women were magnificent voices also
Need this now more than ever
RIGHT NOW!!!! You can Feel the Holy Ghost Stirring in the studio and Steering the Good Ship Dylan onward
Pressing off to critics...Amazing song !!!! Great album !
