Chang Fung is a young man studying kung fu under the perpetually inebriated Wu Tseng, who seems to have made a few enemies along the way. When a gang of four warriors show up intent on killing Wu, it is time for Chang to show what he has learned of his trainer's "drunken kung fu". Will he be able to protect his teacher from the killers?

Love Mei Fei movies first time I seen him was in a Shaw Bros movie called Five Masters of Shaolin with the late great Alexander Fu Sheng RIP. Also RIP to Chen Sing the leader of the bad guys. The bad guy daughter was gorgeous beautiful with a good heart. She knew the snake style.
Punch and kick noises are hands down the best in these old kung-fu movies

Interesting to see Drunken Boxing without the drunkenness (you can count on Meng Fei's interpretations of various boxing styles). This was a showcase of combat application as opposed to wu shu exercises and forms.

I used to go to the Lux theatre in downtown Oakland years ago before they tore it down. Best bargain in town, 3 matinee movies for about $1.50, to catch the latest kung fu movies.

One of my favs. There are a lot more great ones as well. I am a huge fan of the Shaw Bros productions. That was my thing on my time off duty in the military was watching kung fu flicks while my Rottie listens to the noises, he’d watch here and there, then sleep and twitch like he is dreaming of doing Kung Fu on my neighbors dogs that would come into our yard not on leashes.

I should make a list of all the real kung fu actors and all the fake ones who are staring because of their faces or charisma but are faking kung fu. Meng Fei is one of them but not the worst. He can move just enough, worst one is Loh Lieh , David Chiang is like Meng Fei and here Cheng Sing they can act good but their kung fu is fake.

" Iron Monkey " the evil General used them. I think I've seen them in other movies too, some where.

Description & fill ins with it: First 16 minutes casual then the fighting begins with (Big Tom Cheng Fu Hung) & "Tao Pai" (Ma Cheung). That pretty kung fu girl is "Pi Yu". Chang's friend is called Monkey. 1st half of movie is fights - gambling - restaurant work. "Tong Chung" is daughter of restaurant owner. Chang fights the manipulator "Chan Hing Tang". "Lee Su Fang" is (Lung Fei) fights next. Reunited with his teacher Chang is up for some serious training. 2 mysterious fighters appear to tip the scales but NOT by fighting. 111 minute mark Chang Fung goes into full force. Time to find out who kung fu girl Pi Yu is related to. Fierce final fight !

I remember watching this many times as a kid and missing the comedy in the ending. It always seemed sad that he loses the girl in the end and becomes a drunkard.
