  • Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitman and Oren Levi discuss the love of friends in the 26th episode of Basic Concepts in Kabbalah.
Why is the love of friends so difficult to digest and accept? What prevents us from hearing how important the love of others is? How can we build the vessel or instrument that can reveal the Creator? What are people who come to study Kabbalah looking for? What can we recognize and understand through the love of friends? How can we practice the love of friends in the study of Kabbalah? Can we study Kabbalah on our own? Can we reveal the Creator alone? Why do we need to build mutual connections in order to reveal the Creator? What does it mean that we are opposite to the Creator in our qualities? Who is a friend according to Kabbalah? Why do we need to reach love instead of building simply friendship? What is the difference between being friends in the physical world and on the spiritual path? Why do I need to see my friends as greater than myself in the spiritual group? How can we acquire new qualities in the spiritual group? Why do we have to show love openly in the group? How can humanity become the system of Adam HaRishon?

From 09:38 to 11:10 the dubbing is muted. Here's a summary what's being discussed there:
Dr. Laitman mentions that in the beginning of his Kabbalah studies, his teacher, the Rabash, emphasized the importance of forming a group. And so, Dr. Laitman managed to bring new students who would later become part of his study group.
When asked about the benefit of group study versus individual study, Dr. Laitman responds that it enables the student to learn about their own nature, which is opposite to Godliness.
Our inherent nature is egoistic, and thus opposite to the Creator's nature, which is altruistic. We are built this way and this is our driving force, even if we are unaware of it.

Is it because there is nothing other than the Creator? That I must love my friend as I love myself?
