In this episode, Tesla owner shares their experiences in crashes, near misses, hit & runs, and other Tesla Sentry Mode events in Episode 200 of Teslacam Stories, the ultimate Tesla show.
Teslacam Stories is a series of Tesla owners' real experiences told by the Tesla Dashcam and Sentry Mode videos. All incidents are recorded from Tesla vehicles and submitted to this channel by other Tesla enthusiasts. I contact each person who sends me their videos to talk with them and learn more about their story and to follow up on what happened after what we see on their video. Voice-over and captions are added to describe what happened, and why. I believe that this additional information regarding the incident gives the videos a newsworthy value.
From the footage and additional information, a viewer can learn the consequences of bad driving and can educate his/her self with better driving safety. This process also gives the videos a great educational value. It is my desire to add my own unique and creative value in a transformative way to ensure you enjoy and learn from the videos being presented.

So glad the bank actually did appreciate Eli's heroism with a gift card. Everyone's being awesome!
His run was hilarious 😂
Here's a tip: It's super-duper easy to put your car in park. If you're stopped, and you have to let go of the wheel, put the car in park.
You don't need a suit of high tech armor to be a hero.
@@darrennew8211 I've lost my faith in human common sense. I think it's time for more radical measures. Like mandatory automatic park brakes if the door is open. (And also automatically render the door handles useless while the car is in motion.)
@@peterkornis5377 The new cars all have that. I have a jeep that turns off the parking brake automatically, but only if your seat belt is on before you put it in gear. A tesla will put itself in park (which involves turning on the parking brake) if you open the door, which is actually kind of a pain in the ass if you're trying to line up the car by leaning out the door and looking where your wheels are. It also goes into park if you get out of the driver's seat.
Whoever came up with the idea for Sentry Mode at Tesla should be given an award.
They can see you doing laundry too.😉
@@nocomprendo1409 nah, China already sees that with all Chinese cameras that they sell all over the world...
It was Elon musk bro😂😂
Who do you think?
Ya cuz dashcams weren't already doing it for many years...
Last time I saw a news story about someone leaning out of their door in a drive-thru, the car went forward but the door crushed the driver. This lady was lucky....very lucky.
Seeing Eli's act of heroism, and how his bank actually thanked and gifted him for his actions warmed my heart. Seeing so much stupidity these days, it's these little things that give me hope. ❤️
Ashley needs to have quicker reaction times, that accident could easily have been avoided.
☕️
She was too busy with her phone obviously☕
😂
Speeding doesnt help
agreed
The school bus didn’t take him down. He rushed around the bus, struck the front bumper and wiped out. Serves him right. It’s amazing how it takes the accident to change peoples driving habits
You can see the bus cross the lane line. So, obvious the bus caused that.
Definitely got too close to the bus & clipped the bumper. Clear as day
Nope, the school bus turned to the left slightly and that caused it to flip. The car didn't strike the bumper.
The bus veered left after being struck on the bumper corner by the illegally passing vehicle. Some momentum was transmitted to the bus by the heavy SUV and the steer axle might have been damaged by the collision.
@@davidpowell3347 Wrong. Yet again.
That school bus did what we wish we could do to that one impatient driver who always overtakes you.
Ashley must have been distracted looking at her phone. There's NO WAY she didn't see that car reversing. She didn't even slow down.
She probably expected the person reversing to not just full send it out the driveway, right of way dictates people already driving on the street have right of way. Based on the way the narrator described it, the driver of the other car was probably trying to commit insurance fraud
@@PliskinYT A good experienced driver knows to expect the unexpected.
The other driver kept backing up even after the hit, based on on the vehicle moved...

Idk what driving school you went to, but one of the first things you're taught to be predictable, NOT to stop for someone without right of way @@bailey125
7:25 Clearly on her phone as its impossible not to see that. Most avoidable crash ive ever seen
Even if it wasnt enough time for brakes (which there was) they had enough time to swerve and get out the way so ye defo distracted
@Chozey the car was too far ahead to be hidden by the pillar, and I doubt the whole car would be blocked from that distance
You don’t know that. It maybe that Ashley assumed the other driver would stop thus slowing her reaction.
@@jpbaley2016 if you see car reversing that could possibly not see you and pull out, I’d hope you make sure it doesn’t. You don’t just assume it’s stopping and continue at 30mph into it
@@Matty27wouldn’t the same be said about the lady backing out…
Eli is the hero of the YEAR wish we could have more people like him, I hope he does stuff like this more
Ashley could CLEARLY see the car pulling out, unless she wasn't paying attention. I don't care if I have the right of way, I'm not going to let another car hit me.
to the lady that fell out her car, i felt sooooo bad for her as she reminded me of my mother way too much. thank god the dude helped instead if just pulling his phone out like most would nowdays
1:53 is a good example of Eli being in the right place at the right time is stop an accident
Eli is my hero today and good lord do I need one! Thanks Eli for being awesome! ❤
@NotStar2020 no. People just don't help anyone anymore and I am giving him a compliment and hoping that kindness becomes contagious.
I'm a school bus and I can tell you that people do crazy things around a school bus. Just this week I was on my route which consists of a 47 mile round trip on secondary highways. In the midst of going through a left hand curve with thick trees on either side of the road in a clearly marked (by a double solid line in the center) no passing zone, an SUV passed me at a high rate of speed.
This is one of many crazy stories I could tell about drivers being stupid around my bus.
I guess I should trust you because you are the school bus😂
You're a real live school bus?!
Just ONE of the reasons I like your channels is you explain and label each location that way we can watch the action.
That first accident was like the hit-box for the school-bus was glitched LOL
For the walmart one at 6:49, I work in the same department as that guy and use those carts to transport items for customers. They have a little break on the right side of the handle and honestly, forgetting to engage the break and letting it roll into traffic is my worst fear lmao. You never want to *LEAF* those alone.
im sorry...
Lol
that's BRAKE. Break is when you take your 15 minutes rest.
Those carts are also notoriously loud on pavement, he must be deaf to have not heard it.
@@ChaoChromeMessor Some of them sound like suitcases going over pebbles and some of them are perfectly smooth lmao
@@jimgriffin9924
Oh give him a brake, he's just making bad puns.
Way to go Eli, You're the man! Would there be more people like you!
#9 It doesn't matter if you had right of way. Common sense and paying attention to the road prevents you from having an accident. If you see someone backing out of their driveway with no sign of stopping, you should slow down and stop then wait to see what they're doing. also, i would assume if you're driving in a residential area, you should be looking out for stuff like this. What if it was a child that had just ran across the road, would she still have "right of way". Common sense is really not a thing anymore. smh
Ashley could of easily avoided that kind of situation..
Could have*
@@youngeshmoney 🤓🤓🤓
The other person could have looked before pulling out into the street as well, but hey, they didn’t.
@@DunkleSnunkle you'd expect someone with 2 kids to be a bit more vigilant whilst driving, but hey, they didn't.
And any normal human backing out of a driveway with their vision blocked wouldn't fully commit to it. They'd proceed much more carefully, as not seeing someone coming isn't a reason to ignore your own safety to just go. Ashley could have avoided it BUT it's not her responsibility to avoid something because somebody else decided to be a complete idiot and ignore ALL logic. That lady assumed that there was no traffic, Ashley presumed that the car backing out who can't properly see would wait at the end of the driveway to check, it's absolutely NOT on Ashley to avoid that accident, but it's nice if she does.
5:19. Man looked at that tree like “WHO PUT THAT THERE?!”
I like the way Eli had save a car from entering the highway. What a close call!
Eli, you're a champ. Quick thinking saved the day.
A dash cam is a must now days with all the hit and run. My employee got hit 3 days ago and of course the guy took off. Good thing we got his plate number. Be safe out there people.
Sad part is Ashley is definitely at fault for that. Failure to avoid an accident she had plenty of time to slow down or go around the car. She was most likely distracted
Not distracted. It's ego. "I have the right of way" type of ego. I see this every single day here in Canada. People don't stop for anything if they believe they have the right of way.
@@Freshy300 You should spend a day on Long Island. I lived on the Island all my life and lousy driving is rampant. It was a culture shock when I moved to Upstate NY.
I also dislike people who intentionally violate right of way rules and create a dangerous situation.
Nope! 50/50 at best, but through traffic still has right of way over anyone backing out of a driveway, so she's not at fault. Then again, we have all these armchair professional drivers know everything, so, there's that.
She wasn't at fault for that at all.
Impressive job by Eli. Saved that lady a major headache and sounds like he also saved some people from potential injury or worse. That’s a good man right there!
Ashley is going to learn that just because one has the 'right of way' that doesn't mean you aren't responsible for trying to avoid an accident.
100% chance Ashley was on her phone. You're on a residential street -- of COURSE people are going to back out. Yeah, it's their fault for not seeing you, but someone who was paying attention could have tapped the brakes (or since this is a Tesla, let off the throttle) or just turned the wheel a little bit to avoid them.
Not to mention kids and pet’s usually dart out into the road also, so she definitely wasn’t paying attention and she most likely was going faster than she should’ve been
Ashley☕
On their phone? Probably not. Slow reaction time? Yes.
Her fault when she can't stop, it wasn't like the driver was flying out of the drive, she had to be doing 30.
@@greg227 Depending on the area, the speed limit might have been 30 mph. I lived on a short dead end (6 houses long) for most of my life on Long Island and the speed limit was 30. A lot of residential areas there were 30-40 mph.
I know your bad tree jokes are going to improve with practice. I'm rooting for you!
Ashley & Michael clip, I hope nobody ever has the misfortune of being in front of her at any point, she has the reaction of a stone
Good job Eli we need more people like you
7:27 Ashley's problem was not speed, it was her looking at her phone (I bet). She had almost 3 seconds to stop and didn't swerve until 1 foot before impact. Yes, she had the right of way, but the accident probably could have been avoided if she was paying attention.
Yes that was easily avoidable, so she bears some fault.
Betting that the insurance will find both drivers at fault
Aaaaand, still the fault of the person pulling out into the street without looking.
@@DunkleSnunkle That's not how fault works. You have a duty to avoid the accident if possible. You can't just plow into somebody who made a mistake and pretend you never saw them. Both are at fault.
@@plmn93 lmk how it goes for you on the police report and insurance buddy.
For submission #3. Yes, Send it to the police, even though both are in the wrong, the Hilux Driver was more at fault. Since he cannot overtake on the right lane, and also the sideswipe was also ilegal since if he maneuvered the Hilux a bit early... It would have caused a major accident.
Exactly my same thought. Submitter did 1 minor thing wrong and other driver did 2 bigger things wrong that could have really hurt people.
Very dangerous driving. Definitely police.
You are correct, that is a dangerous driving and warrant a police charge
Did you notice the front plate being held on by only 1 screw? They were probably in another one before this one 2:54
Wrong. The filming driver is most at fault. He was illegally lanehogging, blocking the road and causing that whole situation.
It could even be ruled a felony as you see him speeding up trying to cut out the other driver, so that's deliberate crash / criminal damage right there.
Lanehoggers like him cause the vast majority of motorway accidents and are extremely prone to roadrage. Dealing with them and taking their licenses should be a police priority.
....And also why he's not sending it in. For him that would likely be losing his license for reckless driving and a ticket for lanehogging, while the other driver only gets a small ticket for overtaking on the only lane left available.
Why is nobody talking about Wham Baam using chapters, now?! It's the single best improvement the channel has ever made, thank you! I no longer have to guess when seeking to the start of a specific clip, I can just find the start of the chapter and go from there.
This just popped up on my page. I had no idea there was like a Tesla cat club thing. 😂😂😂
I think that’s great! And although I never really thought about a Tesla before, seeing how much security (and just plain fun to rewatch) the cameras provide I think I’ll look into them. Great way to represent your community!
As for the video, I feel like I’m in a monthly meeting of a local club. The narration sounds so personal. Great job! 💕
*I watched Eli save over and over again. That was just an awesome save.*
As a school bus driver, people automatically assuming that the bus is moving very 😮slowly is a huge annoyance. I've had people pull out in the front of the bus only to realize a few seconds later that the bus was moving faster than they thought once they see a bus grill quickly show up in their rear view mirror 🤦♀️
PS I really wish people would stop assuming that every school bus is slow moving when in fact most of us are actually moving just as fast or a tiny bit faster than people think
Props to kevin for being a normal sane human being

That second accident was just like one I recently saw on the internet where a grandma had put her grandson in the car, but it started rolling on. She tried running, but fell and iirc broke her jaw. A man was thankfully able to stop it before it got out of the gas station and got on the road. And lol, it was the same Nissan Rogue as the one in the clip in this video 😂
@carfan108 That's plenty strange all right, but with all that this tiresome ad I saw earlier today [8/6/23] assumes an Alfred Hitchcock-like patina to this Roguishness. I didn't click on its seductive little message, but its plain statement cannot help but reel some fish in; that way lies either a hijacked email address to then send spam worldwide [nothing like getting that crap from your OWN email addy!] or a Trojan horse what'll do even worse. So look out for an announcement of NISSAN ROGUES BEING GIVEN TO SENIORS! accompanied by a nice [stock] pic of same [not just 1 in it]; that cannot possibly be true anymore than ex-King Donald Dump donating that Merry Logo pile to some Black church organization. People be careful of both your own Rogues & these online Devish ["devilish" among some of my kin] Chaps panting to prey on you!

Honestly I feel like Tyler is the bigger MVP than Eli.
Tyler, despite having no responsibility to do so, stayed at a car crash with the Fire Department presumably for some time, and showed the footage to the firefighters and their chief to prove that the firetruck driver did nothing wrong.
He could've just kept going home considering he was only two blocks away, but instead he wanted to help those who usually help us and took a good chunk of time out of his day to do so.
Eli's save was impressive and definitely worthy of appreciation, but overall he spent like 5 seconds stopping a slow-moving car that was probably going to get caught and stuck on the burm anyway, whereas Tyler spent a lot more time helping the emergency services.
For Albert's clip, that's standard insurance protocol. When an insured denies involvement in a claim, if the claimant can prove that the vehicle was involved and there is no report of a theft, the insurance will usually take care of it. If the hit and run driver's insurance still denies it despite overwhelming evidence of the accident, the alternative is going through your own insurance so they subrogate it and then the insurance of the hit and run driver usually will lose arbitration.
Had a very similar accident as Albert. But i don't have uninsured coverage so my insurance didn't do anything except to say it's on me or person who hit to pay damages.. He got a $3200 repair and I got same damage but my quote is $8500 and say both doors need to be replaced vs repaired. Not sure if that's legit for an authorized Tesla repair body shop.

Telsa video also shows Tesla drivers in the passing left hand lane getting passed on the right quite often. In many US States it is illegal to be in the passing lane and not actually passing other cars.
The situation with albert made me laugh: the insurance company accepted fault anyway
Because they know it was a tesla involved and recorded what happened. They know its a lose lose situation to fight a tesla 😂😂😂
With Albert lanehogging and blocking the road, in a situation where another dangerous lanehogger is blocking the left? I don't think so.
Two parties caused the crash, Albert being the main offender.
The other driver, being forced into an overly wide 3 lane change to overtake the hoggers, simply made an error of judgement. Could easily get him only 33% or 50% liability with the rest going to Albert.
At any rate both Albert and the other lanehogger should be fined.
@@SanderSA-ny3lh Don't ever try to be a lawyer, because you're not good at it.
There is no "lanehogging" in the middle lane. Also: even if a driver is in the left lane, that doesn't mean the judge sides with the dude who hit him. There's a reason it's illegal to make that many lane changes that quickly. What the other driver did was illegal in every sense of the word, regardless of why he did it.
I mean, Jesus, you're REALLY bad at logical thinking, bud.

Ok I do see this as an actual thing desiel trucks do sometimes. Burning off deposits in the dpf. It chooses high temp high speed (highway) to do this so that ut clears the gunk better. It does actually inject a bit more fuel to burn in the exhaust.
@@malice6081 That is NOT a DPF Regen happening right there. 👍(DPF is a Diesel Particulate Filter.) When a regen happens, you don't see any smoke. A regen uses raw fuel to increase exhaust temperatures (different vehicles have slightly different methods, but the goal is to make the DPF very, very hot.) Over several minutes, the stored up 'soot' is burned into 'ash'. The ash remains in the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) for the life of the filter (100,000 miles or more, varying widely depending on the vehicle/engine. Some DPFs for larger, commercial trucks are removable and the ash can be removed or 'baked' off, as part of a documented service procedure.)
During a regen the only thing you will notice is: A loud fan sound (the radiator fan speeds up, some cars have an extra cooling fan), slightly higher RPMs (800 RPM ==> 1,000 RPM) for example) and a unique smell of burning soot. It vaguely smells like diesel, but much 'lighter' and cleaner.
The truck in this video is a modified/tuned truck. It has a DPF delete and an engine tune. It probably also had the catalytic converter removed during the DPF delete, but sometimes people put in a high-flow cat to reduce the heavy smell of diesel exhaust, rather than running a straight exhaust (no DPF and not catalytic converter -- and often, deleting the DEF system -- Diesel Exhaust Fluid and EGR.) It wasn't 'rolling coal' on purpose; just accelerating. While many people want to say the pickup truck driver was being a jerk, I'd say he was just trying to get out of the fast lanes.
That being said, his engine tune is no good: His tune is providing too much fuel to the engine for the amount of boost (turbocharger) he is getting. This is the result you get when you use a 'cheap' tune that doesn't do anything except increase your boost pressure and increase the fueling to the engine. With a 'better' tune, the entire engine is remapped for various RPM, load, temperature, etc.) Most diesels can get more Torque, Horsepower AND get significantly higher mpg. (I use the term "better" because many people will say that doing this to an engine is wrong, not to mention illegal for on-highway vehicles. I'm just providing some facts!) ✌👍
@geography7historyas you're well aware by now, that was the time stamp reference - to which i got in the habit if posting as "@9:34 mark". Far more accurate way for someone else to find the section i'm referencing, as going to "segment number 6" doesn't really tell you exact where i (or the OP in this case) was referring to.
Just "food for thought" for your day.
@@Delta_NWAB747fani absolutely luv how a majority if Tesla drivers automatically believe they're intended targets of daily life. Sure, there are plenty of EV haters out there (i bet if all EV's had similar recording devices, they'd have their share of "incidents" as well) but common driving knowledge should have reminded the driver that the slow truck towing the trailer was simply doing what a slow vehicle should have done - move over.
It also amazes me on how many BAD Tesla drivers i encounter daily on my 30 minute commute to/from work. I swear, nobody should ever try passing a Tesla owner, as it's an automatic indication that you want to initiate a roll-race with them. That is, if they're not already flying down the highway to begin with.
