To continue my comment with Mr. Carman, in case you missed it: I have experience with selling wild and cultivated mushrooms to food outlets, such as restaurants, stores, fruit stands, etc. If the public is unsure of the mushrooms species you are cultivating, it might be difficult to find a retailer who will take a chance with you. You mentioned oyster mushrooms. These are, generally, more well known, and might be your best bet to concentrate on selling. Also shiitake is fairly well known, these days, so you could maybe try cultivating shiitake on logs, if you have the space to grow in, and access to oak or birch, etc. As an anecdote, I will relate a story of the time I wild harvested just an insane amount of Tricholoma terreum in a nearby forest. I tried to sell them in the city to these open air food markets that you often see. One of these purveyors said he'd give it a try, but his customers would be unfamiliar with this species. He asked me if I could print up recipes for eating Trichcoloma terreum, and I said, 'no problem'.

It was very dry in this region. It was wet in the spring and then really dry and hot until like 2 weeks before mushroom fest. I'm from the Durango area
Why would it be odd to have a festival dedicated to just mushrooms🍄? Well there are thousands of species, uses, compounds and so much to know and learn, whereas something like "The blueberry Festival" near me every year is all about a single berry of a single species... and there are thousands of similar events for everything like a single grain, single fruit, single form of a single activity, celebrating single individuals... every year, so it makes a whole lot more sense, not less! 🍄🍄🍄Hail Fungi!!🍄🍄🍄

Question: you stated that amanita phalloides "evolved" to grow fruiting bodies from a single hyphae. Can you reference where this mushroom has ever been observed to have needed to sexualy reproduce in history? I love science and in that genetics and adaptations are extremely interesting to me. I also know that scientific academia presents a lot of information which is patently false, as though it's been observed, like macroevilution. Therefore, I prefer to critique information that is in conflict with what I've learned is actually observational

the thing is its pointlesly over priced for the sole purpose of excluding averge or low income people. you cant defend charging 400 dollrs for festival about a free activity. the organizers have gotten way to greedy.
😂 I've been going since 2010 and I only ever bring about 400 for the hole 3 ta 4 day trip sometimes less you can buy tickets for the events you want to take part in and everything that is changed is wel worth the 40 - 50 bucks and they have a grate identification tent that you can bring your Mushrooms to if you don't want to pay to foray and there's free camping everywhere you really have no reason not to go unless your just making one but don't it's the most fun I have every year 🎉
