I never noticed how Spamton still has a phone in his shop. It's really sad. He's still loyally waiting for a call back from the someone who originally made him a bigshot...
The thing is that in his shop the phone was ringing. I wonder if something during his last call corrupted him and now can’t stand the ever ringing phone in his shop. Still sad tho
its belived its the same person too that interacted with jevil who spamton mentions he despises and envys i imagine cause the "mysterious man" kept talking to him while he stopped talking to spamton probably because the "Freedom" the mysterious man gave spamton was abosed he became arrogant and petty when he became a big shot making G abdon him for so underusing the knowledge and aid he gave him.
@@steph8030593 both spamton and jevil mention a mysterious character whos interaction with drove them mad or showed them the truth this is belived to be gaster from undertale.
When his eyes went to static and he asked if anybody can hear him, it genuinely scared me as it was so out of character, no Hyperlink blocks, no random misplaced letters or words... just, `Help`
It caught me off guard too. While I thought that it was probably something intentional to catch the player off guard while everything else seemed so ominous and unordinary, it really made me confused and I also felt sympathy for Spamton or whoever said that sentence
yeah it scared me to so i tought he's being controled or something cus he said help me i think he said a name it was mike or something so maybe someone is behind it
I love how the battle becomes increasingly more terrifying. Like at first it’s classic Toby and his antics in speech, like “Spamton turns to the audience” but it soon becomes “there is no audience” and him saying shit like “Can anyone hear me?” out of character for him, one of the most unsettling is where it’s like “Spamtom begs the audience to stop taking the furniture fork his room” and other audience/Spamtom abuses
The “Spamton turns to the audience” is a reference to Mettaton from Undertale. It’s theorized that Spamtons Neo form is actually Mettaton’s Body, specifically Mettaton Neo. The proof is the presence of sparkly wings and high heel boots on Spamton’s character. Throughout the fight, Spamton makes many allusions to the Mettaton Neo fight with the “Power of Neo” even appearing in the song “Big Shot.”
Spamton says " we are the same" because they both are controlled by a force outside the game. Spamton and jevil are imprisoned into the game by the developer and Kris is controlled by the player against their will, showing everything at the end trying to get rid of the player.
Something I found interesting was that Spamton suggests that 'you THREE can break your own strings'. It might mean nothing, but the prospect that Kris isn't the only one tied down by something - that Susie and Ralsei are, in fact, restricted in all they do - definitely occupies a decent portion of my headspace.
Just an idea, maybe the three would include Noelle, Ralsei, and Kris as they are the three mainly controlled by the player. Susie is said to take orders from Kris and not really the player so maybe?
@@Mkozi- hmm it would make sense since susie has downright ignores the players/kris's orders however im not sure about ralsei also it would be a bit weird if spamton would talk about noelle since she's not there
Fun fact from an Undertale OG to the new fans: The jumbled letters in the third blue-checkmark puzzle are the same as the ones in the Ice-Ee's Word Search in Undertale that Papyrus gives you in Snowdin
And when Susie says "Wouldn't it be funny if it was missing the one letter you needed?" is a reference to the fact that if you actually read all letters in the puzzle, one is missing
I think that Gaster is the one who says, "can someone hear me." Also during the boss fight Spamton has phones for hands, the line "Beware the man who speaks in hands" basically hints to Gaster speaking to him on the phone.
and all the side bosses involve people realizing the truth about there world and trying to seek freedom just like what happend to gaster to make him what he is now basically jevil and spamton were people on the verge of becoming full gaster followers but gaster stopped helping them at some point spamton when he became petty and arrogant with his sucess and jevil when he fell to total insanity. this means we might have a acutal gaster follower npc boss in future chapters
It could be, that Gaster encountered these characters that became secret bosses, and when learning the truth that their world isn’t real and their life is a lie, they went insane. The question is, why did Gaster want to talk to them? So he could escape the void?
@@garrettviewegh677 might simply be a since of kinship to other indivduials who "learned the truth" and "saught freedom" gaining knowledge of things beyond the game that was there world just like gaster once did and presumably like all his gaster followers did after.
I also believe Gaster is the one calling Spamton because whenever you try to use your phone in a dark world we hear gibberish that sounds really familiar.
@@ThatOneCarrot_ My head-cannon is that the secret bosses actual affected each other, starting from gaster or a gaster follower, then to a darkner, etc until Mike, Mike shows an ad on tv with gaster's phone number, and spamton goes in touch with gaster. Spamton may have accidentally shared the info he got from gaster while making random phone calls, resulting in jevil.
Spamtom’s theme is also mixed with the world revolving in some part. He also references freedom multiple time just like jevil. Perhaps this hint at the person making jevil and spamtom insane is one and the same? Evidences are pointing out that this mysterious person might be gaster too.
@@dudejoe24 this person, is probably gaster. If you talk to the salemans which will appear after spamton’s death and talk about his backstory. One of them claimed to have been on the phone with the guy that spamton was listening to. The calls was, to his surprise, completely full of garbage noise. “Garbage noise” is what used to describe the weird noises coming from gaster if you tried to use your cell phone in the dark world.
Spamton have so many similarity to jevil why spamton neo theme have some parts of world revolving in it Both jevil and spamton can be found underneath the castle or mansion where the dark Fountain is at There both optional boss Jevil is trap in a iron cage Spamtom neo is trap by strings like a puppet So there powerful but trap by something They both say some weird and Cryptid things And both don't appear in castle town
Spamton also says something about becoming more popular then " that clown around town" so does that mean he knows jevil personally or is that just toby wondering if spamton will get the same amount of love that jevil got.
Notice how occasionally Spamton's eyes become static? That looks exactly like the tv-static on the television when Kris opens the portal, which further supports the theory that Mike is in the televison. Since this chapter is about the internet, the next one might be related to television and this "Mike"...
Spamton somehow knows about the Light World and about something that is Holding him and everyone else back. The Item you get from him also reflects that as you can "see the library" when looking through it
There seems to be a pattern of optional bosses telling you about the antagonist of the next world. On defeating Jevil using No Mercy, he mentions Queen. Now we have Spamton mentioning Mike.
From the name alone, I would imagine the Chapter 3 antagonist / secret boss is a sentient microphone Or it could be a shopkeep- the possibilities are endless!
I have a theory that Kris is just a vessel that is being controlled by the player against their will. There are hints that Kris however is his own person in how he interacts with the world beyond the actions of the player, which suggests they're aware the entire time, but beyond micro-expressions, they're not able to control their actions. In the Snowgrave route, things get really weird where the player and Kris seem to become separate - Noelle notices that they have a different, terrifying voice, and because the player can read text in the game, it's like mind-reading, which Noelle notices when you respond to something she's thinking about. Then you have a moment in the battle with Berdly where even if Kris gets knocked out, Noelle can still hear the voice of the player telling her to kill Berdly. I think this voice is just a manifestation of what the player is based on the actions you've taken, so I do think during the normal routes, the player is a force for good, much like Undertale. However, Kris is aware the entire time, and as a result, is trapped in this hell. I think the endings of both chapters where Kris rips the "Soul" out are the only times we actually see Kris as himself, which gives you an indication of the sort of character they are - aka they're not a good guy. The soul is the player. I suspect Kris is aware that without the soul, his body will probably die very soon, so he needs the soul to survive, but they can do just enough by ripping the soul out to do certain things of their own volition before putting the soul back and giving the player control again. I think it's highly likely, based on the ending of Chapter 2, that Kris is actually The Roaring Knight, who wants to destroy the entire world - but he's under the control of the player, and is trying to break free of the players control. I think this also ties in the theme of freedom that you find from the secret bosses. The secret bosses are both characters trapped and wanting freedom - both are completely insane, and insanely powerful. Spamton even says, which you noticed in this video, that he believes "You three can break your own strings" - aka break away from the control of the player. I think as the story goes on and we start to see who Kris really is, things are going to get dark and incredibly fucked up VERY quickly.
The way I read it it kris is under the control of two forces - us and chara. The heart is kris's own, and when it's ripped out chara takes control. Whenever the game is being played, we're in control, and can choose to play into kris's nature (which I believe is good due to how seperated the player and kris become when choosing evil) or play against. I do believe chara is in this story though, because all the characters and their relationships stayed intact between undertale and deltarune, EXCEPT kris vs chara. An entire human being got swapped out for anothrr. Kris' attitude seems more like frisk than chara so where's chara? Still lurking. Still pulling strings. I do think chara will win in the end though. It says at the beginning of deltarune that we can't change the ending; I read this as "you can fight, you can struggle, you can beg, but you can do nothing" Chara. Will. Win. My main question right now is why the blatant favouritism towards asriel? What is up with that?
To be fair the other time when Kris takes control is when they save Susie from the king in the first chapter if Kris wanted her dead could have let her die. I don't think Kris is entirely evil. So far we don't know what their motives actually are. At the end of chapter 2 we see they slashed Toriel's car's wheels which seems malicious, but so did the ending of the first chapter until it was revealed that Kris wants to use the knife for the pie. My guess is either one of two things. Either Kris is trying to get control over their life back or this thing might be a red herring. To me it just seems too on the nose. There is one other character who acts extremly suspicious in this chapter, and that is Ralsei. The second you get in the cyber world he is there with you almost like he know where you were going, and despite the fact that he says that darkners can't resist in the cyber world he seems more than fine. The most supicious thing tho is that during the sequence when Susie enters Noelle's room he shifts the player's perspective by making the player witness the events happening in the room, all the while he is having a conversation with Kris, not the player Kris. If the same sequence play out during genocide run however he can't distract the player which visibly frustrates him. This hints that Ralsei is aware of much more than we think and might be hiding something.
Do you guys remember that call you could get in Undertale? The one that says, "Can I speak to G-" We know that Spamton got calls from a mysterious figure (presumably Gaster) so maybe he was trying to call him, and wanted to speak to G...aster, but somehow managed to call across dimensions 📱
One other thing worthy of discussion is Spamton's now-iconic glasses. Heterochromia is a cool touch, but the fact that they are pink and yellow specifically is interesting. Pink could well be a reference to the idea of "rose-tinted glasses", that the past was so much better (in a romanticized way) and that they would do anything to "go back" to that. Yellow, however, has historically been the color of fear as well as mania, both qualities I believe Spamton has in abundance. The fact that they are round as well presents an idea of completeness, or things returning to their beginning. In the end, he couldn't be anything more than a simple puppet. Sorry for the dissertation, but I thought it was worth going over. I'm making a pair for myself and plan on dressing up as our favorite $ale$man for Halloween!
Amazing point!! Colour theory and shape language are stuff I didnt even consider but thats such a good point! also i wish you the best of luck with your spamton cosplay
This is a good theory but the head waiter in queens castle is wearing yellow and pink glasses. He also talks about how some people are trying to copy his style and some even going so far to impersonate him. Spamton is impersonating the head waiter to disguise himself like many spams do
@@imnotthatbright2836 Fair, but the specific elements used are still interesting. Otherwise, he could have just gotten a carbon-copy of Swatch's glasses.
That could be a hint that whoever Spamton was trying to contact is in the light world as when you try to call from your cell phone it says the same thing. Possibly whatever or whoever he was trying to call is in that locked bunker
@@marycruzship5652 its also the same noise that plays if you use the phone in G room in undertale. implying that the "benefactor" of the side bosses seeking freedom from the game is infact the one man who left the game to begin with the first glitch the big capital skeleton himself
Agree. The old robot also might be Mettaton, they also have the same evolution names with having the name NEO. The empty disk might be related to the upgrade Mettaton got. Also got the wings and same looking body structure like the pointy legs. And the way you have to shoot at his heart as well, along with attack patterns... Also he dances like Mettaton. No one dances as good as Mettaton does.
When you talk to swach (I think after the fight) he tells you that that form was the dream a lightner created. So, possibly Ghost-Mettaton went to the library to draw his ideal body in ms paint and put in in the bin after (I say this because the robot looks abandon in that place). Which is really sad-
@Name in progress Yeah, in old Undertale Mettaton was a ghost before he got turned into a robot, so those forms could be seperate. Either Mettaton had already left the body of the robot behind or the robot shell was planned to be inhabited by Mettaton in some way, but idk
It's never actually stated that Kris is controlled by a malevolent force when they rip their soul out, but it is the only time we have no semblance of control over them, which, among many other factors particularly on the snowgrave route implies that the player controlling Kris is canon and that they are essentially trapped by us, the only times they are able to get free is when they rip out their soul or when Ralsei prompts us to follow Susie instead. In chapter 1, Kris rips out their soul to get some of the pie Toriel made which they know the player likely wouldn't allow them to do in the middle of the night (this is shown in how chapter 2 starts). When Kris rips out their soul in chapter 2 they slash Toriel's tyres and open a dark fountain, this probably just shows that Kris is enjoying their time in the dark world and hanging out with Susie and Ralsei, and in a way that is actually totally in-character for the Kris the townsfolk speak about. There is no school the next day so Kris wants to have an excuse to go to the dark world that might not show itself otherwise.
I think that in the end of chapter 1 he actually went to open the second dark fountain where chapter 2 takes place, but yeah its totally in character that he would go eat the pie too
Not really, it might mean a totally diferent thing: that we are merely controlling Kris's own soul, and that sometimes Kris get possessed by something and so he is forced to rip out his own soul. I don't think anything has been so different from the fact that we merely control the main character and make them choose options, just like how we control Frisk in Undertale.
I’m pretty sure in chapter one he ripped out his [HeartShapedObject] then opened the dark fountain of chapter two, eating the pie and leaving the knife in the tin as an alibi
It's also ICE-E's catchphrase, which kinda adds to the sans is originally from the deltarune universe but escaped somehow, since there's no mention or show of Ice-e anywhere else on undertale.
7 chapters, 7 human souls..determination and justice were already shown, I wouldn't be suprised if we saw another representation of a human soul in the 3rd chapter..or it's secret boss fight
@@The-Red-Fox-Tail Now that you say that, I’m thinking Jevil could be Patience because even though he has been there for a long time, he considered himself being outside and the rest of the world trapped in a cage.
Just realized spamton can turn his hand into phones. The man who speak with hands. P.s. just realized that [Mike] could not be an actual character, but the username of Mr.super here.............
Mike is actually a person who made an ad in 1997 or so that had something with the word “big shot” in it or something, I don’t remember all the details anymore but it was something like that ^^’
Fun fact: Listening closely to the Spamton NEO theme, you can not only hear what sounds similar to Ghost Fight/Dummy!, but you can also hear The World Revolving (and Power of Neo).
@@thedeergod435 Because the body Spamton took is Mettaton's body. Or WAS gonna be Mettaton's body. Spamton referred to the NEO body as someone's hopes and dreams. If you went to Mettaton's house in Chapter 2, you can talk to him and understand that he gave up on his dreams of being famous.
One thing about the line when spamton asks "can anyone here me? help." he follows it up by saying "I didn't hear anything, but it sounded like they were talking about you." It could be that was in fact Kris calling for help, and the "you" he mentions is in fact us the player.
Honestly I don’t think it’s Kris, I think it’s Dess saying that since in the game’s code she says something similar about not knowing where she is and if anyone can help her
There's this theory that Spamton's NEO form is basically Hapstablook's drawing of mettaton EX (maybe EX NEO). Swatch said something about the Spamton NEO suit being a robot who was the embodiment of a Lightner's dream (Possibly Haps). In the end the NEO robot was nothing but a doodle in what's possibly a digital art app in the computer lab, possibly forgotten or unsaved
@@drawingdragon that would be actually really funny Like when Jevil mentioned the queen and everyone was speculating she was this evil mastermind when in reality she's just preventing potassium deficiency
Reading Spamton dialogue and fighting him actually gave me goosebump. His appearance look like a joke character but he's the scariest enemy I have seen so far
Spamton neo is a homage to the fact that you never actually “Fought” metaton neo and Toby made this referencing that, that’s what I like about him personally.(edit: didn’t even know this comment got this many likes, this just made my day, thanks guys!)
Also- someone discovered a glitch for spamton Neo’s boss fight, making it super easy to beat spamton Neo. And Toby, instead of patching it and making it unusable, made it a trigger for hard mode. Friggin amazing.
I figured out something: I believe the mike part is from a Big Shot soda commercial in (you guessed it) 1997, this could be a lore thing or just a joke.
I don't think this has any particular deeper meaning (although, anything is possible when it comes to Toby's games) beyond the fact that Spamton is the personification of Spam Emails, and thus it could be assumed that he's just referring to, well, spam that Kris got and potentially fell for at one point or another.
@@frog1405 that could be the case, very true. Yet again, spamtom in his first encounter with kris calls them "kid". However, when you hand spamtom the EmptyDisk, he has a dialogue "now Kris don't be greedy" or something like that.
@@user-sf1uc7ft1t true, but I will say, the whole calling someone "Kid" thing is a very common thing, and does fit with Spamton's whole vibe, if that makes sense. Could be that he knew Kris's name but just didn't use it at first. Idk.
The more I hear this deltarune theories and easter eggs, the more I want to play the rest of the game. Toby is doing really good. Hopefully It doesnt take 3 years to make the next chapter-- Also Mike keep it up! You are *[BIG SHOT]*
Toby had trouble making Deltarune chapter 2 because he was searching for a good game engine and other people to help him. He also planned on releasing the chapters all together so since Chapter 2 is out it means he has everything ready so expect Chapter 3 sooner than 3 years.
@@JackUtopia-qn8oz no. There was lots of factors that caused the delay. looking for game engine, corona, looking for people to work on the game, wrist problems. He's also 30% done with chapter 3. We should get the full game by 6 years.
Fun fact: you don’t actually need the hacker guy, you can literally just go to the switch and interact with it to fight the secret boss, I mean, that’s how I did it
Wanted to say the same thing. I was absolutely flabbergasted I came across the switch, despite only getting one blue checkmark. That's when I stopped the game and looked it up on RUclips
So, i get BIG SHOT featuring leitmofits from Jevil's theme and MTT NEO's theme, but why does it have parts of Ghost Fight/Dummy? Is it referenced solely because Mettation is related to Napstablook? Or is there another reason? Seems like a random addition, but this is Toby Fox we're talking about.
@@Duskool i don't know but there is something simillar in Undertale with Spider Dance. It has "Ghost Fight" and/or "Dummy!" in it. What does Muffet have to do with the ghosts?
Spamtom is probably one of the most tragic characters in DeltaTale. Poor dude just wanted to be free, his battle isn’t done in rage or malice but desperation after realizing not even his powered up form can grant him freedom. Even when granted his freedom by Kris and the gang, it’s bittersweet as his body proceeds to shut down after being freed from the wires, killing him.
Game theory: The next chapter will be related to television, where we will meet Mike in some way or another. Because there is no way the tv would just show static for no reason at the middle of the night.
I was so proud of myself when I got keygen for 1 kromer. After buying other stuff for 30 or so each I was happy, only to realize it’s all not just shit, but outright harmful
S poison is objectively terrible as it harms you unless you use to revive someone (or on Noelle in the overworld but that's unused). Frayed Bowtie is pretty good, it increases magic and is one of few attack increasing armor pieces. Broken Sword straight up does nothing.
22:40 (just to clarify) spamton doesn't fade from existence, he just becomes the glasses, if you have a full inventory he will comment about how you filled your inventory with "half priced salami"
I just realized that Spamtons NEO body is hidden in another operating system, because keygens, or key generators, can be used for free access to an operating system. (Which is, by the way, illegal.)
If people try to google up keygens to access the next few deltarune chapters for free, their results will only be spamton high on cocaine, it was all a secret plan so that people couldn’t cheat their way to get the next few chapters for free
Interesting that Kris shows more emotions in this chapter. It used to just be people pointing out Kris's facial expression. But after spamton neo, Kris shows a lot of fear, and then happiness because of his friends. I wonder if, because Jevil and Spamton didn't have that comfort, they ended up going crazy and losing it. Edit: I know Kris isn't actually referred as he/she, but rather them/they. It's just a habit a lot of us get because there's so many characters here. But thanks to the replies, i remembered that the Knight is also referred to as they/them, one of a few direct links to Kris.
Did anyone else notice the line “the air cackles with freedom” during the spamton neo fight? Another Jevil connection, anyone? Also I freaking love this guy. The musics great, the sprites awesome, love his dialogue and those lyrics in the background. I love it. Also I swear I can hear a bit of of mad dummy in there, so he may be a puppet, interestingly enough. The strings in his sprite support it.
I have a theory (that i stole) that the Shadow crystals might be parts of Gaster. Gaster was split accros time and space, as confirmed by the G. Follower holding a piece of him, this piece being a "chunk" of him, with other chuncks possibly being Mystery_Man, "redacted" from room 272, Mike, the Man who gives you the Egg and the Shadow crystals. The shawdow crystals are nigh Invisible and, when examined in game, allow you to see outside of the dark world's dimension (The computer lab in the case of Cyber City), witch are trates that fit with Gaster (Split throughout dimensions, have a tendency to disappear). My bet is that the crystals "embed" themselfs into the superbosses via their own will or influence from other parts of Gaster, like with Spamton and Mike. The only thing i can think of that makes me wounder is how Seam knows how to make them more powerful, or how he knows about them in the first place. He was close freinds with Jevil, but I think Sean may have had a "talk" with part of the doctor as well.
well you see there’s a thing in the files called a “pure crystal” and it’s description says “The shadow purified by the cat” so it’s likely that Seam purifies the shadow crystals (P.S: if you go to Malius there’s a recipe that needs the pure crystal)
I have a theory about the mysterious phone calls Spamton got that made him the way he is. Spamton was said to have gotten his success from the phone calls and he often talked on the phone and his business was booming at that point. When the phone calls stopped however, that's when it started to go downhill. His successful business because pretty much nothing and he became forgotten. When the one guy went to visit him and heard the garbage noise and stuff and it was exactly the Gaster noises from Undertale. While Gaster hasn't appeared in Deltarune physically yet, there's only the phone audio, which is both referred to by the player and others as garbage noise. Gaster seems to resemble a lot of qualities of the Devil, especially because of the constant connection with the number 666 in many ways, (like speeding up the bunker audio by 666%, giving you garbage noise) which is one thing. However, another characteristic of the Devil is also promising success, riches or whatever in exchange for something, but the consequences for that are often at the cost of something greater. His wealth and success diminished, along with his sanity, only until his last moments he briefly gained lucidity in his speech before his end. So Gaster could be a Devil-esque type of character after what happened to him in Undertale. If the trend with the number 6 has any significance, I bet Deltarune Chapter 6 might bring to light if all this is Gaster's doing or some other entity we have yet to see.
Maybe the person we see behind the weird door isn't Gaster? And is actually Mike and the actual Gaster is someone else. Imagine if the real Gaster just barges in a future chapter and we are all proven wrong about who he is
I feel like the game has a connection to flowey. The static, the smile, and the fact that he distorts reality. But whats more interesting is when you interact with asriel's computer at the beginning of chapter 2 and the string of text it provides. "The final boss is a guy with rainbow wings. It's a shame this game never saw the light of day."
i really love how Deltarune has these dark tones, things that are left up to speculation but you have enough info to gather some sources and create theories upon. especially with Mike narrating and explaining makes it better!
Maybe. It may be revealed that us, “the player” is the real final villain in chapter 7. If so, I’d feel pretty guilty. I wanted to just play a fun game, not be taken on an emotional, existential roller coaster. But then again.. it is another game by Toby Fox. His games aren’t what they seem on the surface.
@@garrettviewegh677 us the player being the puppet master is one possiblity yes. Although I have something a little more Far-fetched in mind. But yes it is toby so who knows
I have a pretty outlandish theory that ties the original undertale into this. Chara destroyed the original undertale World in the Genocide ending. So what if they moved onto another, to destroy it as well because Chara is Chara, which is still in the same universe. This explains why the characters and mechanics are the same but in a different way and why Chris looks like Chara and their Controller has the characteristical knife and the DETERMINATION needed to open Fountains. Also it seems like not every lightner has the DETERMINATION needed to open fountains, meaning Chara in the player has the strongest DETERMINATION seen so far. And where have we seen that before?
I think Spamton might also have some connections to Jevil from the first chapter. They were both hidden bosses that were driven crazy by a mysterious man. (spoilers below) Also, you can battle this guy at the end of the SnowGrave run. That's the run where you push Noelle into freezing every single enemy.
Spamton mentions a [Clown Around Town]. It's possible he meant Jevil, but it's hard to see how these two would ever interact, as Jevil was mostly living in the castle
@@cooldakota9695 true, and you can hear the world revolving in spamton neo's theme also with power of NEO and the mad dummy's theme, i understand power of neo, but idk why mad dummy's theme is there
Theory about Mike: there’s a TV in undertale, appearing cursed on a cursed character: Flowey. Normal route Flowey has a TV with spazzing faces. What if that face was mike?
Spamton as a character is actually a reference to 1997's soda called "Big Shot" by Mike Ditka, however I believe that this Mike that Spamton talks about is not only a reference to the Big Shot but may also be a character in future chapters too.
4:52 the hacker is a nice hint but technically unlocking his assistance is not necessary for any of this to work. Very nice to include that though. I think a lot of people missed the hover-over hint. I only noticed that on my second playthrough
For those struggling with Spamtom Neo's fight. Keep charging a [BIG SHOT] and press enter, you can shoot endless charged shots. It helps a lot in the heart and face dodging phases (the face specially bc if you destroy the face in the first time it appears, the second time it appears won't attack)
I actually have a pretty interesting theory who spamton is. In undertale you can get the wrong number song and the guy who calls you say hello can i speak to G. What if the G actually stands for Spamton G like a nickname for him. Maybe the guy who calls you in the wrong number song is trying to reach Spamton. This would also explain the whole phone thing with spamton. I might be wrong tho
To be honest this theory i made doesn't make 100% sense since Undertale came out before deltarune and i'm pretty sure spamton didn't exist back when Undertale was made
the G could also stand for Gaster cuz chapter 2 was not made when undertale was made (i think) so your theory might not be that, but what would the g in spamton even mean too if mine is wrong?
I seem to remember there being a dumpster near the hidden Gaster room that, when examined, mentions that there appears to be a pillow inside of it. It's interesting that he would get a phone call that's just garbage noise on the other end, and then find himself sleeping outside of the area where you might first encounter Gaster.
In reference to Mike... "Don't believe everything you see on TV." With it seeming like the next chapter will end up taking place in TV-based world considering the ending of chapter 2, it seems like it's a reference to the next boss, whether it be main or secret. Jevil did end up referencing the Queen when he was fought in chapter 1 after all.
Honestly, I feel terrible for Spamton. He's been turned psychotic by Gaster (presumably), and at rock bottom. He's desperate to escape both his insanity and the mundane life he lives, but while it's mostly his aggressive, manic side we see, his true self rarely comes out. He's depressed, lonely, possibly scared, and pleading for help. Spamton wants freedom. He wants to be loved. He worships an audience that isn't even there. He hallucinates people dragging his things away, reliving the trauma of being evicted, and begs them to stop. He's been abandoned and betrayed by all of his friends and his business partner. He projects his self loathing onto Kris by calling them slime. This poor guy literally went insane from constant abandonment and betrayal, losing literally everything by force, realizing that he's always essentially a slave to someone else, that he'll never have freedom, he'll never be his own person. He calls out to his [Mama] before he dies, for Christ's sake. He has no friends, no home, no big possessions, no success, no freedom. Even his mind was stolen from him. Poor dude.
What if this mysterious Mike(assuming Mike is the one on the phone Spamton was talking too.) is a dormant Titan? According to Ralsei, if too many fountains spring up, the Titans will rise and both worlds of light and dark would fall to them. What if this is one of them trying to manipulate events to cause The Roaring?
Mikes probably the boss of chapter 3. He said about his old friend, “Don’t believe anything you see on TV. That guys a criminal! A criminal I say!” If the TV puts him in a good light, and the next world is TV themed, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that mike is the CH3 boss (especially since jevil foreshadowed the queen)
@@jeffchee4714 but Asriel’s alive in this reality. He’s mentioned numerous times to be studying at university. So it can’t be flowey…can it? Could Flowey and Asriel really be separate entities this time around? Omega Flowey does have a tv for a head…
I’m not completely sold that the Roaring is a real thing. Seemingly the only one who knows about it is Ralsei. And somethin very weird is goin on with Ralsei. Appearing in the other dark world somehow, not turning to stone, seemingly having knowledge of the light world. There’s definitely something odd about Ralsei, that I don’t trust.
Did anyone else notice that when talking to Spamton in his shop, there seems to be some kind of “normal voice” or suppressed personality trying to break out? It’s when his eyes turn to b&w tv fuzz, and he says odd things about someone called Mike
@@evagarcia865 actually Mike would be the main boss for ch.3, similar to how Queen was foreshadowed by Jevil. I believe the others would be the same too: a secret boss saying the name of the main antagonist of the next chapter.
Theroy: "Mike" may be a former player that's done multiple runs, seemingly he got bored with the only limited amounts of things to do, so he somehow managed to get into the game and corrupt a game character to see what it's like.
What if Mike is one of the human souls we see in Undertale, but a the Deltarune version, leading to the soul getting corrupted and becoming chapter 3’s boss?
I love how spamton neo’s theme is mixed in with a load of other songs from Deltarune and Undertale, like Power Of Neo, the mad dummy battle theme, spamton’s original theme, the world revolving It just proves how well thought out everything is by Toby
From the yellow soul that can shoot bullets and the enemy's soul, to the (specifically, new and impressive form) robot body to the wings, to the hints of MTT NEO's battle music underlying this battle music, to the similar asperations of wanting to ascend, and even the phone... Why does this scream Mettaton to me? I do like the weird way he talks though
Mike might’ve been what Seam was to Jevil: a dynamic duo in their own world until one of them comes across the Knight and loses it, forcing the other to shut them away.
What I noticed is it seems like Spamton also has some sort of connection with Mettaton. The body he takes in the secret boss is very reminiscent of Mettaton Neo’s design in Undertale and is even called Spamton Neo. He also references another form he can take called Spamton EX, yet again, a reference to one of Mettaton’s forms, Mettaton EX. His boss theme also has hints of Mettaton Neo’s theme as well as some hints of Jevil’s theme. It all seems way too coincidental and if it were just to be a funny little non from toby, I feel like he would have made the characters directly talk about it more. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of evidence to make a solid theory, but what I think is that since Gaster is connected to both Undertale and Deltarune, could he have also brought things with him from Undertale, or whatever other weird alternate timelines there are. It would explain the robot suit just being there with no purpose, why Gaster would tell Spamton about it, and hint as to what Gaster’s over all plan actually is. Both Jevil and Spamton are secret bosses and they both have come into contact with him, so if this trend keeps up, we may seem more secret bosses with references to other Undertale characters we know and love.
talk to seam with the crystal. he tells you the form the darkner possessed was very conected tot he lightner world, and that must mean the body they took was very beloved by the lightner that owned it. wich implies it could have been a toy alphies made, or a design she made in the computer lab, and it got left there. seeing as she also made mettaton ex in undertale's timeline
@@AGO339 also talk to Swatch after fighting Neo and he'll further explain that Mettaton-ghost designed the body he wanted on a computer, but it got to the basement because there was never a way for him to make that dream real. Apparently in Undertale, it was also implied that Mettaton had a role in his final design, despite Alphys building it for him.
Spamton just wanted freedom and was reminded on the laws of Tobey's world. Nobody in Undertale is free and happy endings are ultra difficult to find/achieve
Yeah we need ro reverse time in order to get good end in undertale and even in that humans and monsters are likely to have more wars and perhaps underground was the safest option in order to not get enxtint by humans for monsters.
I like the detail on how spamtons glasses are the same as catty and braty's eye colors (catty's = pink; braty's = yellow), it's quite a coincidence on how in undertale they both sell stuff that they find in the trash as well.
wow that pacifist ending to the fight was so strong. it was literally art, to see spamton getting so excited and then it cutting to him lying on the ground, i can describe it. its somewhat similar to that one art piece- can't help myself by sun yuan and peng yu? or something idk anyway my point was that was really powerful

Man right now I feel like deltarune has so many mysterious characters I personally think the knight is as mysterious or even more mysterious than gaster
There are three people who might be the knight: 1. Asriel (this one is very weak in my opinion Due to lack of evidence) 2.kris (the most likely one Due to him opening all of this fountins at the end of each chapter) 3.gaster (sean said that the knight made jevil this way so but the evidence all point to gaster making jevil crazy and thats the case then gaster=knight) Sorry if my english was a bit Weird

Okay so I've always said "Man the music has so many leitmotifs, I love it" but oh my god the connection of Jevil and Spamton is getting even bigger. He has a pixelated and crisp voice speaking in his theme and there are leitmotifs of The World Revolving in it and the Dummy!/Ghost Fight (undertale) part has still kinda got me stumped. It also has a very similar opening to THE POWER OF NEO (undertale) with the loud hit sound and him being called Spamton *NEO* in said boss fight- Aghh this is just amazing
I just wanna say when I gave the empty drive to Spamton so that he could download his code onto it, right after it finished my game crashed and it really added to the creepyness lmao i genuinely thought it was supposed to happen
I just love how everyone is referencing Mike in these videos, and that the probability of the next world being a television world is high, but noone seems to think about Mike Teavee from Charlie and the chocolate factory (who got himself inside tv).
This fight becomes a bit more of a cakewalk once you learn the Big Shot exploit that turns all of your shots into a machine gun without having to charge it. If anyone is curious as to how to do that, you have to charge, and then alternate between Enter and Z. Next thing you know, Big Shot Machine Gun
I can’t tell if Spamton is looking upward when his face enlarges (or while in the shop) during battle or if those are “eyebrows” so his expression is nervous 😅
I like to think the Spamton you talk to after he hangs on those vines is the real spamton and not the glitchy weird salesman gaster made him, free of the delusions Gaster has perforated his mind with and actually helps the player for a final thank you of truly freeing him
That has nothing to do with gaster, frankly I’m tired of everyone just linking everything unexplained to gaster and saying that they’re contributing to helping solve undertale/deltarune
its kinda cool how they implemented everything in the cyberworld as an equivalent to real computer-related stuff like spamton in the light world is probably just the personification of adware that sends emails advertising random crap to you. judging by the fact that he's not working properly (all his links are blocked by the computer), its fair to say its an outdated spam program. its even possible that 1997, the year spamton is obsessed about, could be the date he was written, and he is obsessed about his past, because that's when the program was new and not blocked by the computer, which made the darkworld spamton into a succesful salesman. spamton faded into obscurity, because he became outdated. his lightworld self had became an obsolete spam program, unable to even display hyperlinks properly, which translated into darkworld spamton loosing his salesman position and becoming obsolete
I think this Mike person will be the next boss that we face, as when we fought against Jeveil; he references the Queen who happens to the chapter 2 boss.
honestly spamton's one of my all time favorite game characters, i can tell a lot of work was put into his design, theme, and 2 fights hes also amazing theoretic lore material for people to speculate on and overall has a lot going for him
Spamton’s lines about 1997, Mike, and being a “big shot” is probably a reference to an ad from 1997 promoting a drink called “Big Shot.” Mike was the man in the ad.
SPOILERS!! I believe that kris is actually being controlled by the knight because in the “genocide” route and make noelle freeze everyone if you go to the hospital and go outside with noelle, she says “a voice telling me what to do a voice unlike kris’s it was terrifying” and talks about how they’ve been acting differently.
@@anastasia_852 that’s what I thought but that’s when I found out about the dialogue noelle says I feel like it’s still a possibility kris could be the knight
the voice is the player. this chapter widens the gap between kris and us. Kris is their own character, we sometimes control him, he sometimes controls himself. So when the "voice" tells noelle what to do in the snowgrave route, shes scared of only that voice, the one we make. The one kris makes when we are controlling him. Also im pretty sure kris (not us, not the soul, not the player) is the knight. We know he made the 2nd and 3rd fountain, idk bout the first. And his appearance in the dark world is that of a knight's
It’s interesting how the attacks of each character in the game reflect their character. In jevils fight he leaves you very little openings and to little time to dodge really adding to the madness of the theme, it’s very fast paced while spamtons attacks are like his name suggests “spam” he throws all manner of bullish!t at you and hopes you get hit and with the theme playing in the background with his voice and motifs in the theme it’s just an overload of information.
"Influenced while watching TV to open the third fountain" ... My friend, I believe that is Kris 'without' the influence. Before the heart became part of his life, he was a very troubled soul.
The phone also looks very similar to the one you see in the pacifist run in undertail when you defeat Asgore and Flowey you the first time.

He asked if anyone could hear him during the fight too? I thought that was just at the shop. The furniture thing I just saw as a joke.
The furniture thing is likely due to the day he was to be evicted from the room he had in the queens mansion they took the furniture away.
Seriously, “Smells like rotting glass” sounds like he is having an existential crisis while having a bad trip.
From*
The “Spamton turns to the audience” is a reference to Mettaton from Undertale.
The plan is to seal Angel's heaven. Seal player's world from the game. And Ralsei could be one of the charecters who has anything to do with it.

I think that Gaster is the one who says, "can someone hear me." Also during the boss fight Spamton has phones for hands,
the line "Beware the man who speaks in hands" basically hints to Gaster speaking to him on the phone.
and all the side bosses involve people realizing the truth about there world and trying to seek freedom just like what happend to gaster to make him what he is now basically jevil and spamton were people on the verge of becoming full gaster followers but gaster stopped helping them at some point spamton when he became petty and arrogant with his sucess and jevil when he fell to total insanity.
this means we might have a acutal gaster follower npc boss in future chapters
Now the question is this mysterious person another malicious force or is the roaring knight?

Notice how occasionally Spamton's eyes become static? That looks exactly like the tv-static on the television when Kris opens the portal, which further supports the theory that Mike is in the televison. Since this chapter is about the internet, the next one might be related to television and this "Mike"...
Spamton somehow knows about the Light World and about something that is Holding him and everyone else back. The Item you get from him also reflects that as you can "see the library" when looking through it
Is the next chapter just gonna be persona 4? I mean, no complains here
Character is just a news reporter character that is literally a microphone.
The 'Mike' person seems to be the colored eyes, since the static eyes are when we see the real Spamton asking for help.
Who the hell is mike.
There seems to be a pattern of optional bosses telling you about the antagonist of the next world. On defeating Jevil using No Mercy, he mentions Queen. Now we have Spamton mentioning Mike.

@@miaruuu8375 Yeah, kinda like a talkshow host, that's what I meant
There are some hints about it being in the church, for example Noelle's Dad says he can visit the hospital tomorrow when Noelle asks him.
I guess it was Chara
Thank you yes and how Kris acts right after the boss fight I really think it got to him the whole puppet thing
The favouritism is because he's a fluffy boy

WTF THATS MAKE SENSE

@Name in progress Ooh, yeah, didn't think about that
also the music for the fight is similar to Mettaton Neo in the genocide route
Nice theory
I think that in the end of chapter 1 he actually went to open the second dark fountain where chapter 2 takes place, but yeah its totally in character that he would go eat the pie too
oh my goodness, this is just depressing
Not really, it might mean a totally diferent thing: that we are merely controlling Kris's own soul, and that sometimes Kris get possessed by something and so he is forced to rip out his own soul. I don't think anything has been so different from the fact that we merely control the main character and make them choose options, just like how we control Frisk in Undertale.
I’m pretty sure in chapter one he ripped out his [HeartShapedObject] then opened the dark fountain of chapter two, eating the pie and leaving the knife in the tin as an alibi

There has to be some upcoming reason for collecting the shadow crystals.
Probably a super duper secret boss at the end of chapter 7 if you collect all. or not, Toby is good at subverting expectations.
He was close freinds with Jevil, but I think Sean may have had a "talk" with part of the doctor as well.
well you see there’s a thing in the files called a “pure crystal” and it’s description says “The shadow purified by the cat” so it’s likely that Seam purifies the shadow crystals

@@burntoutidiot4669 how do you know mike is one of the pieces
If the trend with the number 6 has any significance, I bet Deltarune Chapter 6 might bring to light if all this is Gaster's doing or some other entity we have yet to see.
the 3/4 of the story is always the climax, chapter 6 is probably going to reveal most of the lore before slowing and ending at chapter 7

Best theory yet
Maybe the person we see behind the weird door isn't Gaster? And is actually Mike and the actual Gaster is someone else. Imagine if the real Gaster just barges in a future chapter and we are all proven wrong about who he is

The knight is most likely just kris
There are three people who might be the knight:
1. Asriel (this one is very weak in my opinion Due to lack of evidence)
2.kris (the most likely one Due to him opening all of this fountins at the end of each chapter)
3.gaster (sean said that the knight made jevil this way so but the evidence all point to gaster making jevil crazy and thats the case then gaster=knight)
Sorry if my english was a bit Weird
Gaster isn't mysterious, we just don't know ANYTHING about him.

Next thing you know, Spamton gets angry at you.
@@wildberrysherbert3803 missed me by a day, he did ;^)
I can’t tell if Spamton is looking upward when his face enlarges (or while in the shop) during battle or if those are “eyebrows” so his expression is nervous 😅
I like to think the Spamton you talk to after he hangs on those vines is the real spamton and not the glitchy weird salesman gaster made him, free of the delusions Gaster has perforated his mind with and actually helps the player for a final thank you of truly freeing him
Notice this line of dialogue:
Spamton beg to the audience.
Spamton prays to the audience.
...
There is no audience.
GASTER
"Spamton asks the audience to stop taking the furniture out of the room."
Another good one.
It's a reference to mettaton
What does that have to do with gaster
@@personexisting123 yeah
That has nothing to do with gaster, frankly I’m tired of everyone just linking everything unexplained to gaster and saying that they’re contributing to helping solve undertale/deltarune
I unlocked Spamtom Neo after the snowgrave route. Now I have to defeat him alone as Kris.
its kinda cool how they implemented everything in the cyberworld as an equivalent to real computer-related stuff
like spamton in the light world is probably just the personification of adware that sends emails advertising random crap to you. judging by the fact that he's not working properly (all his links are blocked by the computer), its fair to say its an outdated spam program. its even possible that 1997, the year spamton is obsessed about, could be the date he was written, and he is obsessed about his past, because that's when the program was new and not blocked by the computer, which made the darkworld spamton into a succesful salesman.
spamton faded into obscurity, because he became outdated. his lightworld self had became an obsolete spam program, unable to even display hyperlinks properly, which translated into darkworld spamton loosing his salesman position and becoming obsolete
I think this Mike person will be the next boss that we face, as when we fought against Jeveil; he references the Queen who happens to the chapter 2 boss.
honestly spamton's one of my all time favorite game characters, i can tell a lot of work was put into his design, theme, and 2 fights
hes also amazing theoretic lore material for people to speculate on and overall has a lot going for him
Spamton’s lines about 1997, Mike, and being a “big shot” is probably a reference to an ad from 1997 promoting a drink called “Big Shot.” Mike was the man in the ad.
someone make a sprite of spamton drinking big shot soda
SPOILERS!!
I believe that kris is actually being controlled by the knight because in the “genocide” route and make noelle freeze everyone if you go to the hospital and go outside with noelle, she says “a voice telling me what to do a voice unlike kris’s it was terrifying” and talks about how they’ve been acting differently.
Maybe they ARE the Knight
@@anastasia_852 that’s what I thought but that’s when I found out about the dialogue noelle says I feel like it’s still a possibility kris could be the knight
I think that the "voice unlike Kris" is the player
After all,the player is the one who chooses to go throught the Snowgrave Route
the voice is the player. this chapter widens the gap between kris and us.
Also when you are battling Spamton at the end of the genocide route it goes “Kris called for Ralsei/Susie” but then “YOU whispered Noelles name”
That just shows how much care was put in this game. Toby did a amazing job on undertale, then he one-upped himself with deltarune.
"Influenced while watching TV to open the third fountain" ... My friend, I believe that is Kris 'without' the influence. Before the heart became part of his life, he was a very troubled soul.
