Love the blank eyes for Siren Penelope, she may deceive by looking like Penelope, but the eyes never lie, they're unnaturally empty, no iris or pupil at all

No he knows, he's lip reading rn. He's not actually afraid of the water, he just uses it as a pretext for why he's not getting in the water even though he supposedly does want to(as someone enchanted with the siren song would). Edit: they think he's enchanted but he's not(his ears are full of beeswas), he using the opportunity to find a route home.
The knife towards the end is kind of appropriate because is more the sort of weapon he should have used if the siren actually got close to the ship and then got dragged on board, as that seems to he implied by what happens next. The arrow strike makes me think that the siren stays in the water and, when she learns of what happened to the others, she may just decide to go away. Unless the "daughter" was literal and she just got onboard hoping to save her.
Oh I imagined he was just using a bowfishing set-up. Where the arrow is kind of like a harpoon with a line attached so you can drag up whatever you shot.
@@loonelytoon6523 Well, I don't know if this specific method of fishing was common or really done in Ancient Greece, but we do know a few things about this world of Epic: - They have harpoons at least (Storm) - Odysseus is a skilled archer (The Challenge) Even if bow or spear fishing wasn't really done, it isn't much of a stretch to imagine that when thinking of "how do I attack a siren from a distance and reel her in if she doesn't approach the ship?" Odysseus might think "Oh what if I make a harpoon into an arrow and shoot her?" or "what if I tie a rope onto an arrow" or whatever other modification could pretty easily be made to spear the siren and reel her in.
@@libraryoflilylol199 I also thought of that, and probably that's what has canonically happened. I guess it was impossible to replicate that whole dynamic with sounds, so it feels a little like she gets too close to the ship and is snatched. But both versions hold up very well in their own way.

In the start of Different Beast, there's the sound of a quickly drawn bow and a snap as it's released followed by a thump and splash played almost together. So it does sound like a shot was taken to me. There's even a "whoosh" sound with the arrow flying between the shot and hit?

Lashes? Uh...I think is just my art style. When I want to draw visible eyelashes I make some lines, like Penelope's
this may come as a surprise to you but men have eyelashes. Animals do too! They do this neat little trick called keeping the dust out of your eyes.
