If you ever doubt that Troy has brought some Folk magic to this band just listen to this song, a great song done by Toumas but one that Troy elevates to heavenly heights with his contribution to the composition. As a tribute to his elders there is no better song of praise and awe that I have heard!!! How good is this song? So good that when it is time to end your time in the sun this would be the perfect song to exit the stage playing as you depart with those you care for all around you, a sad moment for those turned into a celebration of your time here, there is no better compliment than that. Great reaction as always and happy b'day Bridget hope there are many more to come full of great NW songs to be sung!!!

Yes, a very beautiful song, and Annette sounds beautiful doing it. In addition to a Celtic flavoring the central bridge (with the whistled tune) sounds very much like an excerpt from a 1950's American TV Western theme song. I just can't seem to place which one it reminds me of. Been driving me crazy ever since the album was released!

Glad this connected to your own powerful memories, and how your son is connected to that uncle (the family friend, uncle for him). We rarely see dead persons, nowadays or people dying. Happens so often in the hospitals or elderly people's homes. I remembered my grandmother, when you shared your memories. She died -95, I was in my 20's.
It was a peculiar moment, because It was a pang to me realize she was not there anymore, though the familiar body was. It felt like a vessel, almost like a boat (for trying to find a word for the feeling) that was left after she travelled further. Earthly remains is a good expression, worth lingering with.
She was in the morgue, and we 3rd generation were lead there to see her last time before the funeral would start. From 3 children she had 17 grandchildren, so she was kind of a matriarch, especially when she had been a widow soon since WWII ended.
