Yes, I so much appreciate that your RUclips videos are step by step because I am starting to cook really for the first time and I am so happy that I have been able to make one or two delicious 0lates from following your video step by step. I am overjoyed. Thank you. I look forward to make more delicious plates with the guidance of your videos.
Did you ever get to make the video of the sopa de langosta? I can’t find it on your channel and that’s def a recipe I remember having as a child and really want to try it
Asopao is similar to Gumbo it’s a soupy rice. But not too soupy. My favorite is shrimp. What’s the vinegar for ?I use usually for tenderizing? Love your videos.
Hi sugar!!! So HAPPY for this recipe!!! And yes!!!!! We do appreciate the step by step & so far, I’ve been nailing ur recipes bc of your precise instructions!!! You & your family r going to THRIVE!! God bless!!!
You put the adobo in an oven safe dish and crack the eggs on top, sprinkle some cheese on top and bake about 8 min until the whites are set and yolks still runny. I heard this called "huevos cubanos" but I think the name is different depending where you are from.
Hi freakinrican, from the boogie down Bronx and you have another fan. I would like to know if you’ve done a tutorial on how to make pasteles, especially de yucca. Also, have you made a video of your recipes? I prefer the video than having the book. You need to go to PBS and sell your recipes. I’m excited to make your sofrito and buy your adobo. Thank you, from your fan Ivy.
Quick question for you Chef Derick in 2021 April 29. Which type of dried or fresh Oregano do you use. The Mexican variety or the Mediterranean variety? I know there is a major difference in flavor, and I understand that Puerto Rico tends to use the Mexican variety of Oregano. Is this true? Thank you. I enjoy your videos. Well explained.
I love your cooking so much. But please can you put the video of your Asopao de Camarones again. I made it but l misplaced the recipe. Please add it back on Utube. Thank you Friken Rican

I’m half Cuban and half Puerto RIcan. I have a major complaint!!! Why is it both Cubans and Puerto Rican’s use canned peas for both Arroz con Pollo and Asopao ? Canned peas taste like crap. Why not use frozen peas? Frozen peas are fresher, greener, sweeter and not mushy as long as you add them last. Please everyone stop, stop, using canned peas. Taste a Table Spoon of canned peas by themselves and taste a Tbs of thawed frozen green peas, it’s a huge difference.
What am I missing from my traditional Puerto Rican style sofrito recipe? Here's what I add: - White Onion - Garlic cloves - Cubanelle Peppers - Aji Dulce Peppers - Cilantro bunches - Culantro bunches - A Pinch of Cumin And sometimes I add a red bell pepper. How about you?

My grandmother always added salami or chorizo to asopao, it gives some extra flavor.
That's a great idea. I will give it a try

Here you go thefreakinricanrestaurant.com/grater/
That is why I love watching your video, because you show it step by step! You are awesome! Love you
Eggs with adobo. Ok you got me on that. Never in all my 62 yrs of life have I ever heard anyone use adobo on eggs. Must have a video.
You put the adobo in an oven safe dish and crack the eggs on top, sprinkle some cheese on top and bake about 8 min until the whites are set and yolks still runny. I heard this called "huevos cubanos" but I think the name is different depending where you are from.
Did you cut the tomatoes on the same cutting board as the chicken?
I would’ve put the remaining part of that chicken breast with the bone in the stock because he would give a great flavor. Thanks for sharing.
I totally agree.
You made this so easy" and fast 🙌🇵🇷
How do we get the recipe

I noticed that you put 4 cups of water at the end and you did not put it back to cook is that OK or is it OK to put 4 cups of boiling water ?
Only thing I would change would be to use frozen peas and carrots. Sturdy and more colorful👩🏽🍳🥰
But looks amazing!!!
