I’m a black man . I can’t wait to attempt to recreate this nutritious recipe. I live in Houston and a bowl of this deliciousness cost 15 bucks at restaurants. Thanks for sharing ma’am. God bless.
I make this soup regularly. I love it! It’s the best I love that you share scripture too- thank you for the Word and thank you for this recipe! God bless you Mari ❤️
My daughters in-laws are Puerto Rican and Love to cook soups. I LOVE THEM!!! AND CAN'T get enough. Learning how to make myself so I always have this on had. So Healthy too and cures all colds and flues too !!
@@mariscookingpr I made it yesterday, changes: chicken sausage instead of ham, with black beans, carrots, potatoes, olives And rice! I thought it might come out thicker less brothy, like the daughter's in-laws. What am I missing? Maybe I could use a little more rice, hmmm, maybe it's just right after looking at the video again. Lol
@@patdaniel9921 In my recipe, apart from rice, I also had yuca (cassava), which is incredibly starchy and thickens the broth. Hmmmmm. Next time, try adding about 2 tbsps more of rice or a little less water. See if that helps! Also, if possible, try making the recipe exactly like the video, then you can adjust to your liking after you’ve tried it. 🙏🏽
Just made this, it’s delicious! My puerto rican neighbor will not share her recipe and my son has been asking for me to make it and this came out be so yummy!
Are you serious that they won’t share their recipe? I’m Puerto Rican and I feel embarrassed that they wouldn’t share their recipe. How stupid and selfish of them.,
I’ve made this twice now. Actually pretty easy. I sautéed the meat in the prep pot, threw in fried ham, did the rice on the side, used sweet potatoes?! Good stuff and thank you. Been doing your other recipes also.
A friend just came back to DE from Puerto Rico and raved about this soup. He knows I love to cook so I looked up and found YOU! This recipe does look delicious and I will be making it in the near future. Thank You for sharing.
I truly enjoyed your video Mari, and it comes at a perfect time. My new neighbors are from Puerto Rico, and Joaquin is a retired college professor, and his wife is currently teaching at a nearby highschool. Joaquin just came home from the hospital last night and so I'm going to make your recipe today and take it over to them. I just got in from buying all fresh ingredients plus fresh baked sweet bread. I'm going to make a large pot so they have leftovers. Thank you for sharing all the details! I couldn't find fresh corn so I bought frozen, but I know they will be so thankful that they won't even notice...lol
@@mariscookingpr I also forgot to mention that I love, love, love the scripture that you added, and believe that with all my heart! Thank you so much. God does care for us!

Thank you for your recipes…👍👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Mari, I made this recipe for my family tonight and it was an absolute hit. Exactly how an asopao should be. Thank you for sharing. Can’t wait to see more of your videos.
Thanks for posting. Your video played after another variation of this recipe that I was making with spaghetti noodles instead of rice. I didn't realize that sauteing some diced ham could be included, and really like that idea. But, I have to keep my soup kosher for a Jewish guest this time around. Although, you could use frozen jackfruit as pretty good pork substitute to get around the kosher dilemma.
This looks amazing i have Puerto Rican roots. The only thing I’m curious about is putting ham in a asopao. But other than that I’m making this today thank you ❤️
@@mariscookingpr I am a gringo from Oklahoma. I'm married to an Island girl from Puerto Rico. She has introduced me to Caribbean cuisine and since I am retired I do all the cooking. Thank you for your Bible verses. I opened my Bible and read a lot because of you. God is so loving. I made this recipe. It was soooo good.😅

If I’m using jasmine rice what would be the water to rice ratio? Your recipe looks delicious would love to make this for my family.❤
It would be the same as long grain rice! About 3 cups of water!
Great recipe.Gonna mKe it.😁
If I use fresh yuca, do I put it in at the same time as the frozen one or at the end like potatoes? TIA!
@@kristaember great question! Put it at the same time as the frozen one. Frozen and raw will cook about the same

Thank you, Jani! I’m so glad you’re here! Let me know how it turns out. 🥰
What if I add noodles? When should I so I don’t over boil them?
I say near the end, until they’re done! Cook time will depend on the thickness of the noodles.
I can’t wait to make this! Thank you for sharing this beautiful recipe!!! Can we have a seafood version? 🥹🥺💗💗💗💗
You’re very welcome!! And that is such a great idea! 🍤
What brand rice do you use?
“Arroz Rico”!
Good job
Thank you!
Delicious
Did you add the rice already cooked ? ❤
No, I added the rice raw 😊
love eating this 😋
Can you share full recipe ..I'm only seeing ingredients list
The instructional video goes hand in hand with the ingredient list.
Made it for the 6th time! All in one pot.
Love that! 🥹
Yummy
My water absorbs the rice and started burning any suggestions?
That's a tricky one, but I'd make sure it's on low heat and perhaps a little less rice next time!
Esta noche yo cocino!
🥳🙏🏽
I accidentally added the whole packet of sazon.. it looks slightly darker than yours … is it okay or should I take out some of the water
Once you add the rice, it’ll lighten up! No worries! ☺️
Hii could I do this with boneless chicken breast?? Btw this looks DELICIOUS 💞
Thank you so much, Jesenia!! And yes you can! I like using bone-in breast if I use chicken breast, but boneless chicken breast will work well too. ☺️
