It's not really perspective but bias. Weasel is villainized merely on how he looks. He seen as a monster and not given a chance, so he's automatically presumed to be evil and after the kids when in reality he's there friend trying to save them. And kids are innocent and usually haven't built prejudice or bias towards things yet, which is why they were able to bond with him. What a tragic story, all the more considering Weasel can't speak to say what actually happened.
