Lynyrd Skynyrd is more than just a band ...they're a way of life ..full of honesty , justice , self reliance , and integrity. Their music has and will inspire people to give the best of themselves to their life and the people around them .

Buddy, you hit the nail on the head. We grew up in a way that many Skynnyrd songs where about. It just so happened they where our favorite band. Ronnie's lyrics where from a wisdom way beyond his years. I don't compare which guitar player was the best, Gary just happened to be my favorite, but I loved all of them. I will say they had the best piano player at the time. It was a salt of the earth band playin' to salt of the earth ppl.
R.I.P. Gary 🙏 Lynyrd Skynyrd was and still is a huge part of my life. No other band can ever replace them. Their music is timeless and will always be with us.
None of the Skynyrd guys seem to ever get mentioned in any GOAT lists or even “top bands of the 70s” It’s the never ending shunning of Southerners thing. Ronnie had a timeless, amazing voice. Gaines, Rossington, Collins, King all spectacular guitarists. Glad to see Gary getting some praise here. RIP 🪦
Never thought about it but you’re right they are never included in the best or most important guitarists on any list and you could make a really good argument for any of Skynyrds members to make a greatest of all time list. Ronnie was an incredible lyricist and an amazing frontman he might not have been the most technically proficient singer but his voice is iconic. Allen Collins, Rossington and Gains should be on some guitar greats lists. I wonder if it’s a southern thing them being overlooked or something. Billy Gibbons is on the lists, although he’s not from the Deep South or Old South but Texas is no doubt southern.
I'm 53yo and I grew up in N.C. listening to these guys.i play guitar. And everytime anyone asks me who your favorite guitarist. It's Gary rossington. His technique is insane it looks like he isn't even playing what you hear his picking hand is almost motionless. And the tone he got from that 59 les paul and a peavey amplifier is amazing. I play peavey amps to this day. Gary has meant more to me than he will ever know. He's the reason I play today.
Thanks Gary for keeping the band together so we could all enjoy the music once again, rest in peace brother and now the band is back together in Rock and Roll Heaven. You guys might be gone, but you'll never be forgotten, may Jesus bless all your souls.
The day Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane crashed was one of the saddest of my life. My mom gave me the news one morning as I was waking up and getting ready to go to school. I was so busted up and crying she let me stay home that day... God bless Gary Rossington and RIP to the rest of the LS crew. Legends Live Forever!!!
I was already on my way to school when I heard the news. Still in trouble for sneaking off & going to the concert without permission & on a school night then sneaking in very late. But that day I cried all day at school then when I got home, my mom knew how devastated I was & she talked my dad into lifting my punishment of not being able to go out for the weekends ahead. But I didn't want to go out, just stay home with my Skynyrd albums & stay in my room. My friends came over & we all mourned . Even my mom did caz she loved them too.
I was sitting on the messdeck of a US destroyer getting ready (that day) to go on a Med cruise. In a rarity they had AFRTS radio piped through the ship. Then the news came on....
Yeah, '77 was a big bummer for me and music in general. The LS crash, losing Ronnie, Steve and Cassie, Elvis, and Bing Crosby died thatb year too. Also my older brother Pete, who was everything to me. We loved LS and I still do!
I was 18 yrs old and sitting in front of the tv eating a tv dinner watching the evening local news when Tom Wills announced the shocking news. I couldn't believe it. Not long after I bought the one of the first copies of the Street Survivors album. It was the one with the whole front cover in flames.
Skynyrd was on their way to Baton Rouge when the plane went down. The were adored in our town. We all had our tickets, and we all still do! God bless a southern man, and rest in peace to the greatest rocknroll band ever!
I'm from BR too and had my ticket to the show back then; but I don't have it now. Memory fails, but I must have cashed it in for the refund, never knowing they'd reach such a high level of recognition so many years later. I do, however, have my ticket stub to the Assembly Center when they "resumed" the tour in 1992. I was a grad student at the Manship School. Also saw them at the downtown Civic Center a few years ago and at Sturgis last summer. Visited the memorial near Gillsburg two years ago as well. Very nice.
They honored those ticket at 87 reunion concert. But in MHO you would have to be a damn fool to use it. Gotta be worth something but I would never sell it if I had one and I certainly wouldn't use it for a concert when I could buy a ticket
3-5-2023 A sad day for the Skynyrd family. Lynryd Skynyrd was a huge part of my music growing up in the 1970's. Even though i am a Bass player, i bought my first Les Paul because of Gary, I used to listen to "One More from The Road' at night in my room with the lights turned off and the headphones on. Did this many times. But from "Nuthin Fancy" album "On the Hunt" was the first lead I learnd on my Les Paul. Later in life I was privaliged to meet Gary in Person in a hotel lobby when they were getting ready to get on the bus to go do a show. I told him about the Les Paul thing and he got a laugh out of it. Then I whipped out my copy of the "First and last " album and he signed it with penmanship just like he learned in school, you could read it good. Gary is a champion in the music industry, a down to earth Badass!
@@fivestring65ify Huey Thomason once said he used to like to watch Gary when Ed was in the band. There was a chemistry there. I saw Gary be like that with Ed in 1991. That show smoked!! They were there to PLAY! When Steve came along that type of chemistry was there with Steve and Allen. I met Ed a long time ago. Nice man! As great a player as Huey was it was not the same. He had his style and it defined the Outlaws. Different mindset. I love what he did no issue. Gary took the Kossoff thing, slowed down the vibrato and was the rock of Skynyrd. May he rest in peace!
I did not hear a word about his passing. These guys meant so much to me my entire life. They inspired me to play guitar and learn to sing and play. I remember when the plane crashed and going outside to be alone. My dad came out and asked me why I was crying and I explained what happened it seems like yesterday.
I built him a guitar in 2017 and he called me a few times to discuss the specs. I built a guitar for bandmate Mark "Sparky" Matejka. He was a pleasure to work with. I met him back-stage at a concert in Tampa to give him the guitar and he fixed me up with hats and t-shirts and a few picks. My biggest thrills where when my phone rang, and the caller ID said Gary Rossington. I will never delete his number from my contacts and will cherish the memories of working with him for a brief moment in time.
Gary Rossington reminds me of another "Gary R"---Gary Richrath from REO Speedwagon. Just a humble country boy who sure knows his way around a Gibson! The good Lord has Rossington still alive for a reason
Gary Richrath is a good comparison tho he smiled a lot and expressed himself a lot more but man both of those guys awesome guitarist I would have liked REO a lot more had Kevin Cronin not been such a dick, you get what you play for right?
Gary is great and unfortunately underrated. I saw Gary at the capital theatre in Passaic NJ tour ing as the rossington Collins band. They were unbelievable. 38 special opened for them. They were great as well.
RIP Gary Rossington. If there was every anyone who inspired me to play a guitar it was Gary Rossington of Lynyrd Skynyrd and his burst Les Paul (SG for Freebird). I saw them play in their original line up 4 times, I saw Rossington-Collins play in Fort Worth in the early 80's, then came the first reunion tour concert in Dallas and the many concerts thereafter. This was a band you had to see live, their records kicked butt but the incredible energy they produced could only be felt in person.
Very few guitar players can play with the same passion and feelings that Gary Rossington does. As I sit here trying to think of what I want to say, all I can think of is I’m in awe of his playing.
Louis, neighbors beat up on me via police & psych. social Verker as I would try and play chords on SG & Fender amp in garage in Euclid by the Lake, Ohio. Along with Duane, Gregg, & their band, these folks bring humanity, fairness, drugs-shunning, genius of Van Zant song, and happiness from Allen ( not sure if he spell Alan or Allen ) with Gary .
Gary, your the very best ever. Thank you for all your hard work, dedication and determination to keep Skynyrd music alive and living on forever! I saw you play so many shows and you always gave it your very best! Love you Brother!
You could not ever say enough about the "Great" Gary Rossington. Just think of those wonderful tones , that slide , Wow ! Some older people know , it was Lynyrd Skynrd who put Jacksonville on the world map not the Jaguars. Gary was a legendary player in a legendary band. One of the Greatest Rock n Roll Bands of All Time. Love and Condolences to Gary's family and his greater family the people of Jacksonville , who feel that band is their kinda their own. Jacksonville holds them close. It is sad but they are all gone now.RIP GARY. RIP LYNYRD SKYNRD.
What about Artimus Pyle ??? He ‘s still alive & kicking . He may have not been the first drummer , but he was in the infamous plane crash & survived . They had a parting of the ways , but I believe he still counts here. Just my 2 cents of it . C-ya 👍
I consider Artimus a member of the band of course. But Bob Burns is the founding member on drums. And yes he does count, just not as a founding member.
You’re right, Artimus is thankfully still with us. He’s probably not mentioned as much due to the fact that he wasn’t in the original lineup, but was certainly an important part of the band. Technically, Rickey Medlocke could also be considered a surviving member as he played drums with LS for a short time in the very early 70s, although he never appeared on their major releases. Of course, years later he rejoined Gary in the reunion band as a guitarist, and he’s another extremely talented musician.
When I heard about his passing I instantly felt yet another hole in my soul with that came some pretty heavy tears !!!! Then all the sudden I started to thinking about the reunion going on in heaven and started smiling as I put on Mr breeze !!!! In my opinion Gary is and always was the sound of Lynyrd Skynyrd. I think that name should be laid to rest with him. There's no replacing him or moving on without him. The world couldn't and wouldn't ever forget the music that shaped generations !!!!! Rip Gary I hope to see you on the other side
Rest in Peace Gary Rossington! Thank you for the awesome music. I never met him, but was lucky enough to see him play live a couple times and have been a fan for decades.
A friend of mine had a Les Paul head stock snapped off in a similar fashion. Local guitar guy repaired it the same way -- gluing it back together. I think it's not uncommon with Gibsons. Something about the angle of their head stock makes them vulnerable to breaking off.
You’re right, the headstocks are extremely fragile. Too many folks don’t realize this weakness until it’s too late. Some may be used to tossing around their Fenders, which compared to Gibsons, are built like tanks and are much more forgiving. While it wasn’t mentioned in this video, I read somewhere that Gary’s headstock was repaired not only with glue, but also with a couple of strategically placed screws. those who have examined the guitar over the years say that the repaired headstock was FAR stronger than before the break. (And it certainly didn’t affect his tone negatively.)
Excellent video history! I did 20 years touring/recording out of Nashville and one artist I was with did 2 weeks of shows with Skynyrd and I'd talk to Gary a little bit more as the tour progressed and he warmed up to the point where I felt safe in joking with him and said: "I've probably played some of your songs in cover bands more than you have and I'll never make a fraction of your money". He just smiled and said: "Sorry 'bout ya". 😄
Played in 3 bands in N.C. back from 1983 till around 2002 and if you can't play a Lynyrd Skynyrd tune or two, you aren't going very far in a bar band situation. I always loved it, the jams ,extended versions sometimes till 3 O'clock AM with certain pickers along for the ride! Down the Mtn. the back way to Old Fort N.C...and fun ! I can instantly recognize their music and that's the whole ball of wax right there. Skynrd's legacy is insured. Thanks God for letting them entertain us for a short time.
That dude can play and he can certainly come up with some licks and riffs Allen Collins and Stevie Gaines and Bob Burns and all the rest were such groundbreaking badass heavy rock blues playing musicians how many incredible songs?
Forever Live The Lynyrd Skynyrd Band ! THE Greatest band there ever was and THE Greatest band there ever will be. They are, without a doubt, the pinnacle of rock and roll guitar music. PERIOD !!! Ain’t none better. ✝️✌🏼
@@tedschmidt3288 I like the Allmans. They have a few decent songs. But Skynyrd has a lot of good songs. And better guitar playing to boot. No comparison other than both being considered southern rock genre. But Skynyrd is on a whole other level. It’s not even close. Skynyrd has dozens of good songs. Allmans have but a few. But you are entitled to your opinion....
@@larrymackerethjr.3812 To each his own. The Allman's live album, "at Fillmore East", in my opinion, when it comes to guitar work in blues/rock/jazz is at the the top..with whoever a distant second. Not discounting the rest of the band, but Duane and Dickey laid down some guitar work that no other band with 2+ guitarists have equaled. My opinion ... and probably a few others. I like Skynyrd a lot. I consider them more rock than blues. Another favorite is The Marshall Tucker Band.
Skynyrd has always been one my favorite bands of all time! I loved the story about Bernice and the broken headstock. I had never heard that one before. Another gem RD! Well done brother!
I heard it was fixed with three screws, and the Gibson guitar maker who did the 200(3?) Gary Rossington signature LesPaul alludes to those three screws as well. Not sure the glue claim is fully accurate. Suggest googling for more info.
Very cool story , one I haven't heard before. About 5 years ago I stumbled upon Leon's son in a group chat . He sadly was still searching for some of his dad's guitars . Sure hope he found them .
THE LAST OF THE FOUNDING MEMBERS 😢 Rest easy Gary. Your guitar playing certainly inspired me and anybody else who ever held a guitar in their hands, your legacy left behind through music is absolutely monumental end the world should be ever so grateful. My love and condolences to your family and friends. It’s hard as you get older and you start watching your childhood heroes pass on- if I’m lucky enough to live to a normal old age someday all of the childhood heroes will be gone.….. I guess that’s how you know when it’s your time.
I was there when they brought him into the Emergency Room in McComb MS that terrible evening. The ambulance brought him in on a stretcher, he was wearing his black tee shirt and silver cross. It was amazing that he survived the crash and was still able to carry on. May he rest in great peace!
Thank you for this Rockumentary / Tribute, and to Gary and all the members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, crew and fans. I Love this band, and am saddened by Gary's passing and all of my dearly departed. I grew up listening to and loving Skynyrd's music in the 70's as a teenager. I am 60 now, and will listen / Love 💕 their music for the rest of my life. "It's funny, how someone, you never met, manages to stay with you." - Steve Kilbey
I’m not a guitar player so I’m not sure how to describe what I mean but here goes. Gary’s “crunch/feedback sound” when he really dug down…..is……what makes Lynyrd Skynyrd……just Skynyrd.
I saw the Rossington Collins band on their first tour. It was a magical night. Point Blank was the opening act. Rossington Collins did not do any Skynyrd songs. They left the stage. Returned for an encore. It was a 20+ minute totally instrumental version of Freebird. They didn't need a lead singer on stage. They had 2500 lead singers out front. It was a very emotional experience! Best show i have ever been to! R.I.P. to those in Skynyrd that have passed. You are missed but not forgotten!
This is the 1st I've heard about Gary's Passing. Such a GREAT Talent and he will be missed. Its seems that a lot of Folks have "Forgotten" the Rossington-Collins Band but I'll never Forget them or Lynyrd Skynyrd. Rest in Peace, Gary!
My heart is heavy with the loss of the final member of a band I grew up with! I’ve cried laughed and every emotion in between throughout the years listening to Lynard Skynard . Thanks for the video today!!!
Thank you Lynyrd Skynyrd for all the great music!!! You've been My heroes since 1974 to the greatest rock band ever!!! With all my love May you rest in rock, now you can bet we will keep your music alive fly on proud bird your free at last!!!🎸🎸🎸❣️
Too bad most of you never saw them in their original configuration. Go to the Winterland concerts of them on RUclips. There's two. One with Ed King, one without. I was at the one without Ed King. We were just kids back then. Then there's the Day on The Green concert at the Oakland Coliseum. That was just a few months before the crash. That was back when they could have the Confederate Flag on the stage. In OAKLAND! Nobody lost they're shit. It was a sea of sunburned people, bikinis, and serious amounts of alcohol... The good ole' days... We brought in a igloo cooler of tequila sunrises.A half gallon of tequila, orange juice, and grenadine. No problem back then....It's just Free Bird. Not their entire set like Winterland. I started going to Winterland at fourteen. Yep, our parents dropped us off. That's back when kids could take care of ourselves and the world wasn't as insane.... I pity the kids today. Helpless.
Otis my friend, your taste in music is so much like mine it's scary! Gary Rossington is one of my favorite guitarists of all time, along with Peter Green, both are more melodic and emotional players, rather than doing fretboard gymnastics (although they could to that it isn't "music"). I finally saw Gary R. play live in the 1990's at Portland Meadows, and it was so cool. Not the same as the original band, but the next best thing. I still remember a black guy running around with a Rebel battle flag during the concert - the stars and bars, and that sure wouldn't fly in today's political climate - no? The plane crash was so freaking horrible, one of the few I'm not suspicious about, but STILL........?
Seen them in 1976 Grove stadium and man they were perfect never mist a lick on stage. Think they were the greatest together all them. All I can say is God bless them guys!
Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Bros., Marshall Tucker, Charlie Daniels, Blackfoot, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Molly Hatchet...all of the soundtrack to my life(from when I was 14 til now 63.) Thanks Gary for the music!!!
I’ve got two years on you, but I couldn’t have said it better. There will never be bands like any of them again, and I’m so grateful that we got to experience their music in “real time”.
Man I've always been inspired by Gary and his playing, he has a very distinct sound and knows how to make that Les Paul sing like a bird, like a free bird... Best ALWAYS Gary!
I seen LYNARD SKYNARD a bunch of times 3 time's with Ronnie ,got to meet Gary ,Billy and Leon , Artimus ,they were cool to me ,Gary is in heaven his band is reunited R.I.P
Gary Rossington recently added his signature slide guitar parts on the Artimus Pyle Band's recording of Freebird on APB's upcoming album due out in the fall of this year. Apparently Dolly Parton is singing Freebird with Gary Rossington on slide guitar and Artimus Pyle on drums. The rest of the songs on this upcoming tribute album to Ronnie Van Zant will be sung by a variety of well known singers with Artimus Pyle on drums, Scott Raines on guitar, Jerry Lyda on guitar, Dave Fowler on bass and Brad Durden on keys. APB does an incredible job playing this Skynyrd music with accuracy and intensity and it's really awesome to hear that Gary will be featured on this album!!
That's great news because last I had heard Gary had some beef with Artimus about a few things, which sadden me. Whatever the reasons were, I'm so glad they've been resolved because those guys have been through so much together, from the road days then the crash. Now here they are the last men standing of the greatest band ever !
They are ALL , Freebirds now . Rest in Peace , brothers & sisters . A Great band of it's time , ahead of it's time , & gone too soon , before it's time .
Lynyrd Skynyrd is a legend and one of the godfathers of Southern rock. rest in peace, my brother Gary thanks for teaching me how to play southern rock, and for all the great legendary songs that you wrote that inspired so many people… Keep on rockin.
My absolute all time favorite Skynyrd track. I need you. The slow pace in the wailing dueling guitars taking their time to say what they want to say is exquisite to say the least.
As great a guitarist Gary is , the smartest thing he ever did was give his life to his savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth. See you in heaven soon Gary. John 3:16. SM Lockridge. 2:23
Gary was one of my top 5 favorite guitarists. His solos were all beautiful. His whole persona onstage was classic 70’s. We will miss him. I’m sad he’s gone. Skynyrd was awesome. RIP original street survivor 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
I got to see Skynyrd four months before the crash at the Cape Cod (MA) Colosseum. I've see the band several times in the years since, as well. Gary is always front and center, the band's anchor in many ways, and his playing is as steady as Gibraltar. His solo in "Call Me The Breeze" is stellar and iconic, and one of my favorite solos by any guitarist. Thanks for this tribute documentary to one of the greats. Keep rocking, Gary!
I knew Gary, and the other Gary too. Rossington was common friends with many of us in other acts.. gentle, quiet and genuine. Richrath, was a ball of energy, never ever done playing a date if a single bar, hadda single band.. he would jump in, in a heartbeat! fully immersed in playing guitar. Both parties, both answered their messages, shared the fun and we're true Les Paul endorsers and journeymen. What a body of work.. xxxxm

His phrasing has a lot of feel. He isn't fast, Collins was, but very soulful. I hear Duane in his style and tone.
I agree with that. He look's like he's just pretending to move his hand!

💯%Agree, getting chills thinking about it lol, I feel like I knew each and every one of them. 🎚️✌️🎶🎼
One of the best to ever pick a 6 string... RIP and thank you for your gift of music Sir ☹️!
Allan played a Firebird until around 76 when he acquired the Explorer from Clapton.
Gary May have had health heart issues,, but no one can question his heart,, R.I.P. another guitar legend gone.. never to be duplicated.
I did not hear a word about his passing. These guys meant so much to me my entire life. They inspired me to play guitar and learn to sing and play. I remember when the plane crashed and going outside to be alone. My dad came out and asked me why I was crying and I explained what happened it seems like yesterday.
The bird is free. Thanks for the music Gary! RIP.
Very true gentleman, very true!
You know I think you're right and I can't fight this feeling
Most guitar players and drummers like lead singers have their own unique sound and style, that’s what made them famous.
Both players as well as great writers-
Gary is great and unfortunately underrated. I saw Gary at the capital theatre in Passaic NJ tour ing as the rossington Collins band. They were unbelievable. 38 special opened for them. They were great as well.
I remember that concert well. Was there myself. Place was electric.
A true Southern Rock n Roll Legend and one of the greatest guitar players that ever lived. R.I.P.
I just heard Gary died. So sorry. The best. Guitar player!
I always loved watching him and Allen play. Man they were a great pair. Gary live forever brother!!!
Best Southern Rockband ever, by a country mile! R.I.P. Gary
At least he gave us something to shoot for. It may be unattainable
But lots of fun trying …
Louis, neighbors beat up on me via police & psych. social Verker as I would try and play chords on SG & Fender amp in garage in Euclid by the Lake, Ohio. Along with Duane, Gregg, & their band, these folks bring humanity, fairness, drugs-shunning, genius of Van Zant song,
and happiness from Allen ( not sure if he spell Alan or Allen ) with Gary .
RIP Gary, thank you for all the great music. A big part of my life.
Greatly said ,Gary is one of the most underrated guitarist , I can't imagine a Skynyrd song not being played without Gary.
Rest in peace, all. Thank you Lynyrd Skynyrd, I love your music, it is the soundtrack of America. We couldn't have gotten this far without you!
I miss them, I have tried for years to find somebody as good. Since 77' just never has happened.
...and never will.
Definitely getting the short end on recognition. Truly a “blue collar” guitarist, he just hammers it out and keeps moving.
R.I.P. Garry Rossington 😞😥😦😧😧🙏🙏🙏 My deep respect 🌟
I LOVE THIS! Lynyrd Skynyrd wasn't just and American rock band, they were AMERICA.
Gary, your the very best ever. Thank you for all your hard work, dedication and determination to keep Skynyrd music alive and living on forever! I saw you play so many shows and you always gave it your very best! Love you Brother!
Amen I 👍 agree!
RIP gary we will never forget you or the great lynyrd skynyrd band
great player on many levels - grew up playing to Skynyrd - great albums - rest in peace Gary
Gary made the playing of that guitar look so easy He was a Genius & the pleasure that The band gave us all was cosmic God Bless you All forever 👌👌👌
RIP Gary thanks for all your contributions
An Iconic band that will never be forgotten. RIP ALL
RIP Gary. We miss you already.
Gary Rossington and Allen Collins are two highly underrated guitarists.
RIP Gary. Thanks for the music. You are a legend.
any idea what took him from us?
A true living legend and a one of kind guitarist hope one day he and Alan,Steve, and Ed get the recognition that they truly deserve!!!
Gary is the kindest most humble man you will ever know rip gary you will be missed
I am the biggest fan in France, fan since 1975. Gary, you were a star like the rest of the band
He’s brilliant, I also love his guitar work in the Rossington-Collins band.
Rest In Peace Gary thanks for all the great music life is just to short😢
Gary Rossington, Forever Loved, Forever Missed, Forever Remembered
RIP Gary you were the greatest!!
Rest in Peace Gary. Love from Scotland
Much respect for you Mr. Loggins.
I humbly disagree. Allman Brothers can not be left out of the conversation.
Thanks Ferd...appreciate it!!
Great guitar player in one of the greatest rock bands ever. RIP sir.
RIP Gary , you’ve gone on to rock the heavens with your brothers . Southern Rock will live on forever and Skynyrd will never be forgotten
I was there when they brought him into the Emergency Room in McComb MS that terrible evening. The ambulance brought him in on a stretcher, he was wearing his black tee shirt and silver cross. It was amazing that he survived the crash and was still able to carry on. May he rest in great peace!
To be a fly on the wall in heaven when lynrd skynrd reunites for a jam session..👍👍🇺🇸
I have heard that encore was an awesome thing to witness!! Thanks for sharing!
Some of my finest years was listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd they were Kick-Ass. R i p mister rossington.
Seen them in 1976 Grove stadium and man they were perfect never mist a lick on stage. Think they were the greatest together all them. All I can say is God bless them guys!
God has his favorite band altogether now God bless Lynyrd Skynyrd
Amen
Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Bros., Marshall Tucker, Charlie Daniels, Blackfoot, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Molly Hatchet...all of the soundtrack to my life(from when I was 14 til now 63.) Thanks Gary for the music!!!
I’ve got two years on you, but I couldn’t have said it better. There will never be bands like any of them again, and I’m so grateful that we got to experience their music in “real time”.
Don't forget The Outlaws, too.
Greetings from Switzerland, Europe, the Old World.
I' m a swiss citizen, born and raised ...
And don't forget, 38 Special
The greatest rock and roll band ever!!!!!
Gary has been an anchor for the band every since Survivors, much love and respect brother G
SKYNYRD NATION! Fly High Freebirds, hank You all for the Generation of KICK ASS MUSIC!
Man I've always been inspired by Gary and his playing, he has a very distinct sound and knows how to make that Les Paul sing like a bird, like a free bird... Best ALWAYS Gary!
RIP.....Thank you for so much. Say hello to Ronnie and the boys as well as Duane and Gregg.
I just read about this the other day! Looking forward to hearing some of these tracks! Thanks for sharing!
That is going to be one heck of a album!!!
That's great news because last I had heard Gary had some beef with Artimus about a few things, which sadden me. Whatever the reasons were, I'm so glad they've been resolved because those guys have been through so much together, from the road days then the crash. Now here they are the last men standing of the greatest band ever !
@@stillunbroken62 AMEN Angela!!!
Gary Rossington has never been given proper recognition for how great of a guitar player he is .Never was Allen Ed or Bassis Leon Wilkeson.
The last man standing has now flown to join the rest of the free birds in rock n roll heaven.
RIP Gary Rossington. You were truly one of the greatest.
Gary,Allen,Steve T-For Texas, best guitar battle I've ever seen, Keith Jennings!😮
Love the sound he has on guitar one of a kind in my opinion I NEED YOU has the best guitar sound ive ever heard
Always praying for Gary and Dale! 🙏🎶❤️
Keep rocking, Gary!
its in the Rock hall of fame still.i believe it's the one of his many treasured guitars he talked about just before he passed away. fly high freebirds
He is one of my guitar heros forever.thanks for all the great tunes gary.
Alan's girlfriend came up with the line "If I leave here 2moro"
I knew Gary, and the other Gary too. Rossington was common friends with many of us in other acts.. gentle, quiet and genuine. Richrath, was a ball of energy, never ever done playing a date if a single bar, hadda single band.. he would jump in, in a heartbeat! fully immersed in playing guitar. Both parties, both answered their messages, shared the fun and we're true Les Paul endorsers and journeymen. What a body of work.. xxxxm
I will Always love skynrd!!! They were absolutely badass!!!
