- What You Need To Know Before Receiving Your Shipping Container Delivery
If you have recently purchased or rented a shipping container, it is important to watch this video to familiarize yourself with the process.
This video will cover what we need to know from you, what you need to do prior to your sea can delivery, and how it works when we get there.
The Container Guy has two different systems for delivering shipping containers. We have deck trucks and trucks with tilt trailers. Make sure you understand what kind of truck is coming to you for your delivery so you have enough room on your site.
For a 20’ shipping container delivery to run smoothly, you will need at least 65’ of straight-line clearance for the truck to drop the container on site.
For a 40’ container delivery, you need at minimum 110’ of room for the truck to drop the sea can in place.
Foundation is extremely important when it comes to hosting a shipping container. You will need a level ground so the frame of the container doors don’t twist and cause future problems.
We also highly recommend placing 6” treated wood blocks beneath the four corners of the container so it sits above the ground. If the container sits too close to the ground, moisture can eventually seep through the floor and cause condensation and floor rot.
The Container Guy is a company based in Western Canada that sells, rents & modifies shipping containers. We have locations in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba. Check out our website to find the closest location near you!

So this is how they deliver the container? wow, i got mine yesterday from Wuwi Shipping Container it was pretty cheap and in good form, i didn't get the chance to see how they drop it since i woke up late and my dad was the one who received the delivery. Thanks for this!
I was just watching out of curiosity, but I am so impressed by the video and how it presented your company. I would hire you guys based on this video
Nice to know how to deliver a container. Thank you!
That helps me visualize the delivery process but my 20ft containers will need to be dropped on stacks of cement cap blocks that are spaced appropriately. The land slopes both downward and to the back. So I created stacks of blocks of different heights so that the tops of the block stacks are level with each other, but then I have several delivery issues to contend with:
1. The front stacks have to be moved aside so the truck can back up over their locations and drop the back corners of the containers onto my rear block stacks.
2. Since the truck will be flat on the uneven ground but the block stacks are leveled to each other, one of the rear container legs will rest on a stack while the adjacent leg will still be several inches above its assigned stack.
3. As the truck pulls forward and the container gradually slides off, eventually the container will tilt onto the second rear block stack and one of the front legs will lift off of the truck bed.
4. When the container is almost at the end of the tilt bed, I will need to put the two front block stacks back into their assigned locations. Then the truck will need to drop the front end of the container onto the front block stacks. Again, the two front block stacks are level with each other, but the ground between them isn't. So, one container leg will contact its stack before the other one.
I'm thinking that I'll need to attach some cables to the rear of the shipping container to keep it from moving off of the rear block stacks as the truck moves forward, as for awhile only one rear leg will actually be on its block stack and I'm worried that there won't be enough surface friction to keep the container in place as the truck moves forward. (If it slides forward even a few inches it would either fall off the stack or topple the stack and land on the ground. In either case I would have a failed delivery placement and I have nothing that would allow me to recover from that.)
Anybody have experience with delivering a 20ft container on uneven ground onto leveled stacks of concrete cap blocks? (Note: the block stacks are glued & cemented together to make piers that are resting on small leveled beds of compacted gravel.)
Wonderfully explained very clier. Thank you.
Glad we could help!
Mind please make a video on how to buy a container direct from a shipping company instead of through a slimey dealer?
I live near Seattle/Tacoma, WA, USA. Tons of containers. Prices should be cheap. They're not.
I would love to see you do a prevention theft video on shipping containers , the time it would take to break in one,(even secure like lock boxes)👤 TOOLS thieves could use,(like angle grinders) ways to place shipping containers on property . Just all the protective steps🏆 on protecting your shipping container in a video. I'm a fan!😁🤝❤ Thanks.
We do have those videos in the works. Hopefully we can do them eventually, but it is super cold here in Saskatchewan, so it may be a little while before we can post them!
Delivery, pick up and transport container to nearest port for overseas move
Looks like that container was set directly on the gravel without the blocks at the four corners you mentioned in the video ?
I'm thinking about getting a 20' container. My worry is the place I want to put it is up a dirt drive way that's maybe 10% incline. I am sure I will need to put down gravel. But I need to figure this out before buying one.
This was a really well done video
Thanks for watching!
Nice video.
Do you recommend preparing the ground in some way for container delivery? In my case, the spot is currently just grass, and the west side is about 6 inches lower than the east where the container might go. I'll like the container to be closer to level than that.
Have you considered checking out the M1022A1 Mobilizer.
The US Military uses these units, there is a European country up northwest that designed these for quick and efficient movement around dock yards. I believe they have licensed a US company to build these as well for the military. There are several RUclips videos on this system. Just search M1022 mobilizer.
Overkill. I don't see any commercial application for those outside of the military.
@@TheContainerGuyTV I am still trying to source the company here in the EU that makes these units, have a 20 foot ISO military comms shack that I would love to transport with the ease of adding the wheel system to it and towing it to whatever site it is needed. As a Ham Radio operator having the ability to transport this unit at moments notice would be nice.
I personally like the High cube 40 foot containers for use as second homes or summer homes. Off grid with solar power they make great, quick turn around retreats. Keep up your innovations for these containers!
Can you use rollback style tow truck to deliver them?
How do you handle delivery to a home on a busy boulevard street?
Truck would have to back into the yard.
Go fast. Make the cars go around.
What's the price on a use container, trying to ship items to the islands
I'm exploring the domestic shipping options of the container from west to east coast. Never done it before. Not sure where to start. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
Cool, so have a neighbor with a skid steer😂
How did you move the container to align it with your garage? I need one delivered then rolled into a barn and aligned as well!
And how they're lifted and placed in someone's backyard
How do people not living in the western part of Canada purchase a container? Let's say eastern Canada, is there a way that would be feasible to purchase one or more containers?
Hay man, I'm in ca wanting y to help order combination of 20 and 40 ft containers for storage location I'm preparing to rent. Ty
I want one bro but, I live way out in New Mexico. Las Cruces, to be exact. Does 4 thousand dollars for a 20 footer sound right?
P.S. I like Pizza.
Prices are changing all the time on shipping containers in Saskatchewan, so can't say for sure how much a container in New Mexico would be. Might need to talk to a dealership near you. Thanks for the comment!
P.S. I love Pizza, too!
@@TheContainerGuyTV Thank you.
Where are you located?
How much
How much for 40 foot double door 9.6 high
Do you ship to the Carribean ?
How much does a 20’ weigh?
how do you get your container on the train to move it across the country? who do you call?
Which country? Train isn't easy. Likely better to hire a flat decking company if it's just 1 unit.
Hy
On this video what is the height of that truck with the container
I'd have to measure.. around 12.5 to 13 feet
@@TheContainerGuyTV alright thanks
40475 one way used
how do you help a customer with 2 containers that they'd want stacked; cantilevered. specifically, the 40 would be on the bottom then a 20 stacked on top but hanging over quite a bit perhaps a lil less than half way to create a dry space in the rain for people and possibly a vehicle?
Weld 50' long W12@40 I-beams on top of the 40' then put the 20' on the beams.
And make sure it's anchored down to a foundation or it will 100% tip over in high winds.
