I actually like the accent they have. It sounds cute especially when they try to flirt. The "jij bent speciaal" is a great way to say you like someone. Honestly if you know a little Dutch and want to flirt then try it in Dutch. Every Dutchman will appreciate it and if you suck at it at least you will have something to laugh at together

Flirting should imho be a little subtle and whit a wink. Just saying "je bent lekker" sounds to me a bit desperate. "hoe gaat het", "mag ik je iets te drinken aanbieden", "Ik heb je hier vaker gezien, kom je uit de buurt?" is probably more successful. The guy or girl in a bar, who you want to talk to knows probably before you say anything what you are up to because he or she is there most likely for the same reason. Just going to that person and start a conversation is already a clear sign. The only thing that needs to be decide is if you are a good pick.

Just as the word "excited" in English can have a sexual connotation, so can the word "opgewonden". Zenuwachtig might be the closest Dutch word to what the Americans call "excited". Americans tend to use hyperbolic language like "awesome", "excited" etc. which cannot be translated literally without it sounding stupid.

Nooooo I fucking hate the dutch language for flirting or romance omg. If someone says ' lekker ding ' to me I am immediately pissed off and think they are either joking and don't actually think I look good OR I'm just immediately turned off like ' nope have a nice day baaaaaai ' xD Btw saying those things aaaare often seen as sexual harasement because a lot of men randomly do that to women which btw, just cause I'm female doesn't mean I'm into you xD Like the Dutch are very progressive with like Gay marriage and such but holy fuck can the typical 17 - 27 year old still think their only goal in life is to procreate xD But yea sumary: Dutch is not the language to flirt in xD it's cringy

I just said: "I like you" to a Dutch classmate. I'm really shy and words weren't coming. It was embarrassing. He was very nice, but he already had a girlfriend. It was hilarious. I'm a mess. 😖

@@cristina_garcia nothing wrong with this? Sounds like a delight to have a nice, shy girl genuinly saying she likes you.
I am a (Dutch) girl too, btw.
But if you are looking for a dutch translation:
      'Ik vind je leuk.'

@@jessiemagee1760 For most part of boys, my attitude is something to laugh at. Fortunately, he was respectful. Thanks for the Dutch translation. I'm learning Dutch nowadays since I find it a very beautiful language, and I really love Dutch EDM, so I'd like to understand some interviews of DJs in your language. 😉
